  • Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
    - a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
    - a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
    - a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door and the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated
    - a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
    A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
    Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

    I love how in the comments people are mad that a chinese car got a better score than their favourite european cars. This car is very safe and you can’t deny that.
    edit: to the people who are saying the rollover from the side crash is really unsafe and shouldn’t deserve 96%

    Acabo de tener un accidente con el lynk & co.. Coche trasero un coche que no prendo y se estampó a unos 80km.. El coche un Renault scenic quedo casi totalmente destrozado.. Menos mal no hubo heridos. Nosotros dentro dentro del vehículo estamos bien con algunos traumatismos dados por el movimiento del coche y el choque en cuestión. Pero en consecuencia el Lynk&co resistió muy bien y absorvio bastante bien el coche. Pudimos seguir con nuestra ruta dirección un garaje. El otro coche quedó como lentamente destroza lo la parte delantera. Constato que el Lynk&co absorbe muy bien el choque trasero y efectivamente freno automáticamente.

    Euro NCAP does not perform small overlap tests for perhaps good reason. But the result is that car makers like this 'cheap out' by fitting curtain airbags that don't extend far enough forward. Just look at the puny little things. They don't fill in the gap between the front airbag and the corner of the dashboard. This bad news in a small overlap crash. You can bet that this car will get better curtain airbags if it goes through the IIHS tests in the US. So they'll get a safer version of the same car. It's just like Latin America getting less safe versions of cars Europeans drive. Is this the car maker's fault or NCAP's fault, or both? Where else has Link & Co saved money, apart from on somebody to choose a good name?

    • @EuroNCAP_forsafercars
      @EuroNCAP_forsafercars  2 роки тому +1

      Euro NCAP looks at the safety performance of vehicles in a crash test, it is not part of our remit to consider specific elements of a car’s structure.
      The strength of the car structure is assured by other parts of the car rather than the roof (like the A, B and C pillars, door beams, sills, seam or spot welded door and window apertures and the floor structure) and the legislative type approval sets minimum standards for this (these type approval requirements define whether a car can be sold or not).
      In a roll-over, wearing seat belts is the best way of controlling occupant ejection, provided that roof pillars are doing the job.

    Can you believe it? This car, which is claimed to be safe and of uniform global manufacturing standards, has taken a differentiated approach when it comes to actual production. The model sold in China was recently found to have been treated with a reduction in steel strength, which does not match the strength advertised earlier, and one guesses that this was done to reduce production costs, which is a serious fraud! And it cannot be ruled out that the vehicles used for testing are not of the same steel strength as the actual vehicles sold! NCAP should have taken anonymous purchases for secondary spot checks!

      Maybe the result is 96% for the sensors, but visual for me is far from that. The center of gravity is to high, in both frontal and side impact the car jumped like it was empty box, even rolled... Again, I can see the structure of the car is good, even if the side pole was a little bit too deep into the drivers seat, that's why i wouldn't feel safe in it, not 96%.
