I have been rotating azoxy and propi every 14 days and still have developed some localized patch type disease that I need to identify in the low spots where water can accumulate. I recently added 3336F to the rotation. What I gather from the Grass Factor video you linked is that I should spray them all together every 28 days and not worry about rotation? Planning to buy the turf management textbook to help with disease identification.
That's what I took away from the conversation as well. Another thing, if you can, your best bet is to identify the disease you have to the best of your ability and look up the fungicides that are best for it. Now, some of those are exorbitantly expensive and not practical, but maybe you find you have something that azoxy and prop are best for or Armada is best for or eagle and prop or whatever.
@@JasonSeiberlich I am due to apply azoxy today. I think I will go ahead and add the propi to the mix and see what happens. Already mowing at 3/16. IDK if raising HOC from there will help much. Might try that too.
@1turboflush only reason I would caution that is prop is also a plant growth regulator. So you could possibly cause yourself some problems with over regulation. If you have the 3336 available, could add that.
@@JasonSeiberlich That is something I haven't considered. I am due for PGR based on GDD now as well. If I add propi to my azoxy today, I might delay my PGR app for a bit to see what happens.
Hi Jason, really enjoying digging into your videos. You’ve done a great job here and as I get into turf management, I’m 100% staying here to devour your content - Quick question on plant growth regulators in golf greens: Are there other benefits to using these growth regulators other than the grass growing slower? If I don’t mind cutting regularly and don’t use them, am I missing out on other benefits to my green?
Ok I’m a moron. I paused the video right before you went into the other benefits. New rule: Finish video before asking content creator stupid questions. My bad man.
Have not combined. Only rotate because the label says no more than 4 apps per year. Next year will be azoxy and prop (together) in the low disease pressure months and then armada and mefonoxem in June, July, August.
It is a turfgrass Management textbook. Written by AJ Turgeon and JE Kaminski. Really helped me a lot. The super sciency stuff I largely skimmed because I'm not smart enough to understand it. But there was a ton of information in there on refining cultural practices.
Can confirm bentgrass is more susceptible to disease. Dollar spot and anthracnose. I dont have much time on the golf course, but enough to see dollar spot pressure on most of our fairways. Greens are much stronger to resistence. My guess is due to the religious daily mowing, and a much better topdressed playing surface. We also cycle the classes of fungicides but the dollar spot still shows up.
Long time viewer. It's honestly kind of sad watching you get close with TGF guys. They bring nothing but hate and negativity to the lawn space. They sit behind a computer and criticize non-stop instead of going into a lawn and showing us things. The discord they are part of is also out of control. Nothing good will come from surrounding yourself with that kind of negativity. Good luck.
There should be negativity around a lot of what is said on UA-cam because it's wrong. As you've seen, I have not been negative toward any creator, but I have tried to be very intentional about what is truly required to maintain a nice yard and try my best to steer people away from wasting their money on products that are either not doing anything for you or are wildly more expensive than the same products available in other spaces. Everything you've heard from me for the last two years has been rooted in conversations I've had with the people in that discord or from resources they've referred me to. "In conversations I've had with people smarter than me" is something I say all the time. They are the people smarter than me.
Further, I have a 6000 square foot golf practice facility that I can use and maintain within a reasonable budget and time frame and reduced my spending on lawn care on the normal parts of my yard by 75%. So, to this point, a lot of good has come from surrounding myself with that kind of "negativity."
@@JasonSeiberlich I agree with you that there is misinformation on UA-cam, but there are professional ways of doing things, especially from the "professionals". The way they carry themselves and personally attack people is unfortunate. I really wish they would call out a piece of information and show us how to properly do it with results in the lawn. But they instead berate and personally attack people on a podcast.
That's fair. I originally had that opinion as well. But, I literally pointed to a 30-45 minute segment of them doing exactly what you just said you wished they did. You're under no obligation to change your opinion. Just trying to provide my thoughts in response to your initial comment.
@@JasonSeiberlich You pointed me to a podcast. Personally, I want to see them in a lawn showing us the difference. Talking in a bedroom only carries so much weight for me. I'm an old man - much older than you Jason. I always told my son to surround himself with people that he would want to emulate in himself. You have your own opinions as well. Thanks the dialogue.
Excellent video. For reference, I mow at .75” and apply .25 oz / 1000 every 225-250 GDD.
Excellent.
Awesome content. Thanks!
Love the videos. Where are you located?

Yup. Hard to go wrong using your eyes.

Do you combine and rotate Armada with any other fungicide?

Excellent video…. Do you apply fungicide every 14-28 days continuously during your entire growing season? Do you use a foliar or soil spray nozzle?
Foliar and probably more like 28-35.
What was the text book Demay recommended for disease identification?

Are you applying PGR during July and August or only in spring and fall?
All year. It can help with both hear and draught stress.

Maybe a little. But often if I'm seeing disease pressure in the bent it's in the rest of my yard too
👍
