      Well what do you do if your the producers? Fire Ariana to stick it to her risk the show getting cancelled with many other people out of work?? Or ride it out, maybe hope she comes back which was probably slim.. Jennette should have taken a page from Arianna and did the movies she turned down to be a team player..

      @@rhey81 Like I said before, you have no idea what you’re talking about. Shows will almost always forbid any outside work and breaking the rules will result in being fired. Sam and Cat had two costars and the producers gave preferential treatment to only one of them.
      If Jeanette had decided to do the movies then she would have lost the show. And would have faced a lawsuit. Also, many movies fall through so she could have ended up with nothing. It’s a huge risk.
      The producers should have either applied the same rules to Ariana or let both of them do outside work as long as it didn’t interfere too much with the show.

      Well to be fair and put it in perspective I’m sure before filming she had that in her contract so I would think it wasn’t out of random preference but well communicated/ negotiated between Ariana, the producers and her lawyers which gave her the flexibility. If janette was perusing other things as a nick alumni herself and a good lawyer and went to the producers first I’m sure she would’ve gotten the same. If anything the premise of the show would’ve then involved more than just those two memorable nick characters so everyone could dip on an episode and it would still feel full but without a heads up how’s that as possible.

      @@BbGun-lw5vi both nick and Disney love making celebs into double threats though. It gives their stars more celebrity that is great publicity. The show was about Sam and cat the producers probably came to her after the popular show that’s a lot of leverage. During negotiations. They wouldn’t just do it out of the kindness of their heart lawyers probably fought hard for her from the very beginning to be allowed that flexibility . It’s always about applying for it it’s not just given. Remember for her role she was contractually expected to dye her hair more than monthly or weekly until they agreed on the red wig n she had damage for years. It’s all about what’s in the contract and pulling on your leverage at the end of the day.

      @@happywings15 Oh, I know that. It’s all under contract. I agree with you that they didn’t give preferential treatment to Ariana because they liked her. It’s always business for them. And Ariana showed incredible promise with her voice. It’s no surprise at all that she got better negotiation terms than Jeanette.
      But this feels incredibly unfair at 20 years old. And my point to Rhey was that it’s a complicated issue and you can face serious repercussions for not upholding contract terms.

Additionally, Ariana was brought on as a last minute choice bc they were afraid Sam as a character couldn’t pull it off alone. Ariana had more potential in singing than acting in reality - not necessarily a bad actress but very clearly a better singer - and her success could bring the show more attention. The preferential treatment is in the idea that using Ariana’s success off the show could help the show’s success. This was before she really was so focused on her music career altough she had already been working on an album since 2011. So i think if Dan asked her at the time where her main priority and job would be music (March 2013) then she would most likely have said no.

    • @poppinc8145
      @poppinc8145 Рік тому +21

      Jennette and Ariana were both on the show. Jennette didn't drag Ariana to be on it. She originally didn't even know that they would have her working with Ariana. It is absolutely Ariana's fault for missing commitments. Jennette also explained that Ariana got passes for missing shows, while she didn't. What does that mean? It means that Jennette and the crew members got ready, spent time and money to come to set, only to not have Ariana show up. Not only is that annoying but those very episodes then need to be recorded later on, which means they have to spend more money and time to come to set to record them.
      The story about Ariana playing charades at Tom Hanks' house also shows that she missed shows for her personal vanity and selfishness. That wasn't a business commitment (I hope not, yikes), Ariana did that because she had little concern for her castmates and staff and knew that she could get away with it without any recourse. That's narcissistic behavior.

    I'm glad some of the comments here demonstrate an understanding between jealousy and anger over unfair (or preferential) treatment. I don't think jealous is the right word to describe what Jeannette felt towards Arianna. Maybe she was a little green with envy over Ari's success but it sounds like Ari was given preferential treatment, whereas Jeannette was not afforded the same opportunities. If someone or something blocks your chances to succeed, I'd be angry too and I'd probably look at my colleague and wonder why they get to succeed. Sometimes we forget that not everyone in the same role or industry gets the same treatment or opportunities. Hollywood is full of favoritism. It's not an equal opportunity employer. It's all about connections and who they like.

I think a reason so is because this "preferential" treatment is unfortunately even in the most basic non-Hollywood jobs! It's almost expected in the entertainment industry, but the fact that it is literally everywhere among employment speaks volumes of how people act and behave, you would think that these things on a non-Hollywood scale would be dealt with more fairness and they are usually not.

    I’m not trying to be judgemental but just worried I hope Jeanette is okay the vibe I got is that she isn’t okay mentally, emotionally and physically…. I hope she doesn’t fall to drugs or consumes a lot of alcohol…
    To me her appearance has changed and so I just hope she’s okay!!!

    I could just tell as the show went on The tone of her voice she was tired of a lot of things and fed up but she definitely made the show better❤️

    I hope people start to help Jeanette see that it was not really jealousy what she felt. She was being forced to work while seeing a co worker given a lot of slack. I would be furious too. I would be so hurt and confused. Jeanette deserved and deserves so much more. I love her and respect her more and more.

    It's only understandable that she felt the way she did. She was suffering, and she saw her co-star basically get better treatment and success than her. She must have felt really isolated and left behind, and didn't want to keep exposing herself to the person who was unintentionally triggering that pain.
