      Everyone is saying this will be a nightmare due to thermal issues. It seems like Intel purposely did this move to so "tech-reviewers" can say how fast it is, but it's basically useless power as the thermal issues will eat away battery and long-term reliability.

    Quite an informative review, I am looking forward to the performance of Intel's 12 Generation laptop chips in a thinner chassis, in particular the Dell XPS 15 and 17 inch models. I would like to see what thermal cooling solution Dell implements with the higher specification 12th Generation chips, hopefully, they do not rely on aggressive thermal throttling.

    • @emissarygw2264
      @emissarygw2264 2 роки тому +3

      They do aggressively limit TGP to both CPU and GPU. IMO this is a better tradeoff for most people compared to the older 9560 where they just let it run at max power until it hits a brick wall and throttles down to 10% clock speeds and the whole system starts to stutter. On the other hand, I was able to stop the throttling on my 9560 by a combination of cutting holes in the bottom shielding, getting a laptop cooling pad, and buying a portable AC to bring the room temperature down. So I guess technically I have the 'best of both worlds' 🤣 (edit: although yes, I'd rather they just give it adequate cooling in the first place)

The LCD, lots of backlight bleeding wasn’t great too and the GTX 880M decided to fry itself and with no compatible 880Ms to replace it with.
