Beautiful plays from both players! I hope Dark will never leave the pro play scene (SC or otherwise). He has such a unique gameplay, its allways a pleasure to watch. Of course, by our dearest WinterSC commentator, its all the better.
I feel bad for Astrea. Poor guy just wants to play a normal game of SC2 and Dark just laughs. And then when he does go alright fine I can be weird too Dark just laughs.
This was a meme game for Dark that just shows the differences in skill level between the top 5 players over the rest. He would not even think about doing this builds with Hero or Maxpax :)
Ehhhh... Honestly, he'd probably go for those builds against anyone, and probably already has. Then again, he wouldn't be thinking about it, he'd just do it on instinct. Which makes you technically correct (the best kind of correct!).
@@fenixiliusstrife1253 Ah yes, the classic "I spotted a pro player mistake, beating them is clearly trivial" response. Tell us more about how a professional player isn't a difficult opponent. :)
It's not a 4 corners Bingo win unless you complete a Hatchery/Nexus/Command Center in the opponent's main base location. I don't know if it HAS to be right next to the minerals or if a Planetary Fortress rush adjacent to their base counts.
I mean talking about Astrea's phoenix reluctance - Because he built such an overwhelming ground army and delayed phoenixes so long, Dark was utterly commited to Mutas, he couldn't contest with the ground army any other way - he could remax and it just wasnt enough, one semi decisive fight and it was just over And then Dark's following spire the next game was a precaution rather than a timing, nothing he could be doing stops the roach rush
That first game is EXACTLY why Dark is the final boss, not Serral. Despite Serral being the better player. Dark is such a menace and im here for all of it!
Phoenix isn't designed to be a core army unit, they're anti-air air units and mineral line harrass/ground support. Astrea made the huge mistakes of making too many phoenix and waiting too long when he did have that many. That's not a bad mark on the phoenix, that's a bad mark on the player. Well, maybe it wasn't a mistake, just a case of bad info - the prior game Dark had gone mass muta, maybe Astrea was thinking he'd do it again, and also figured that if he didn't he'd just use the phoenix to destroy Dark's economy. Aaaannnd then he sees about 5 billion zerglings and roaches headed his way. Cue Morgan Freeman "it was at this moment, that he knew, he f***ed up".
We're back, gentlemen And today we're once again reminded that Vipers are still overtuned, particularly against Protoss, and no one wants to talk about it. :)
Dark made a huge mistake. I am a previously rank 1 Protoss Master and zerg wins this everytime if he expands and takes pressure off once the protoss over cannons his natural.
A way to get past knowing Dark will pound people like Astrea in a best of series... While interesting us in the peanut gallery with legitimate upsets... to admit the exciting action is in the upset... no one does this, so you'd have to break from typical formats... imagine you could crawl through series every week without regard whether other SC2 UA-camrs hit a game... because you picked out a game where you just showed off how underdogs owned the top ten pros in a game... Okay being real... if there was an exciting upset that was exciting... but because all the SC2 UA-camrs insist on casting all the games the series when they wanted to showcase a game or two from it... they're bored, we're bored, but admit it's professionally expected to cover the matches in their series no one cared about.... But what if one of you broke from the mold and just went, "hey... here's three games, from series where you knew who'd win after they faced each other five times... but watch these three individual games of how lesser players were fun and scrappy." And then you did that every few days... You have to understand to see the exciting thing you advertise in one of the matches meaning you'll show a 6 out of 7 match... and we don't know which game had the exceptional thing you brought us into your title when when you have to cover the rest of their blaise games....
The protoss response to this which is considered "pro play". 1. Never scout any of the map, not even 10 feet outside of your own base. 2. Build 12 cannons, give up main base without a fight. 3. Make colossus and stalkers and A move in to the zerg base. 4. Got outmicroed, time to make 2 disruptors which actually defend against 20 lurkers. Only make 2 disruptors, never make any more than that. 5. At 16 minutes, realize im fighting only hydra, time to make storm. 6. It's 20 minutes in, I have 50 probes, the zerg is at my doorstep. Time to go mass carrier, but first ill use all my chrono on rushing out a mothership. This is why no protoss ever wins. Only low IQ people play protoss, and blizzard knows this, and they have made it IMPOSSIBLY EASY FOR THEM TO WIN. Yet still no protoss ever wins. Astrea displayed platinum league play here. In wings of liberty, or even HOTS, Astrea would be in high plat/low diamond.
That might be a little too harsh, but only a little. Astrea is absolutely world-class as far as Protoss go. Even Zerg players have been saying that Protoss needs buffed, and they've been saying it for a while, but there's only so much buffing you can do before it just becomes straight up hand holding. Your point is correct though: Protoss have the absolute best scout in the game (Observers), there's no excuse for not scouting the hidden base, especially when you see the zerg on 3-base yet they have an outrageous amount of lurkers and hydras, that should be setting all kinds of alarm bells off. I would mostly chalk that up to panic. Dark has that effect on people - he almost NEVER plays a standard game, he's always got something totally out of left field going on, that's what makes his games so much darned fun to watch. The 12 cannons, A-move before critical mass, not microing, missing storm, building carriers only WELL after the lurkers were dealt with... all of that looks to my relatively untrained eye as if Astrea got completely bushwhacked by the spine rush and just never recovered his mental. That said... it's very telling that as soon as a game isn't just a normal macro to late game, Protoss really seem to struggle in general, not just Astrea. I have absolutely no idea what you would change to "fix" that, Protoss late game units are absurdly strong, there's no good reason why Protoss players should be struggling except that they're just used to normal, build up, get deathball, A-move to victory. That's just low-IQ, like you said.
Most pro-players would realise that Dark is making more units than he should afford, if it was a normal game, as Winter said. When game is thrown into chaos by first a cheese (proxy hatch) into a follow up (overlord drops) it's very hard to judge what position you are in. That's for one. Secondly, the best scouting offensively goes to terrans with a scan, defensively to zerg, due to creep. Protoss has probably the worst scouting and detection from all races, and their best is oracle, not observer. Thridly, protoss end game units are very powerfull, but have a direct counters. For zerg all you need is viper and good micro, for terrans you have thors and liberators. Or you can just micro vikings.
There is no buff or balance change for the protoss brain. Blizzard has given them easy quickcasting on their high templar, an auto attack so you can f2 A move, shield batteries and overcharge, rebuffed skytoss, heavily nerfed terran against protoss... and yet nothing has changed. @@Solon64
"Astrea plummets to a 10 worker lead then expands to his main base"
That right there is a good game.
Boy I'm betting Astrea is gonna be pissed when he sees that replay later XD
17:13 that Immortal died so quickly that it retained its momentum from the Viper yoink when it hit the ground.
The pause just before and then the delivery of "Dark with the classic 'go fucken kill him' strat." was too good XD
loved it jajajaja
The most surprising strategy Dark will ever play, is a standard one.
"A massive mutarisk" did not go by unonoticed XD

5:20 The slow overlord baneling drop certainly is something to behold
*Slowerlord 😀
or Sloverlord?
Hatchery owners association. Im dead lol

Hearthstone is looking really weird these days.
better though
I never played it. Does it even have a competitive scene these days?

How hard is it to beat someone that doesn't scout the whole corner of a map all game? You kind of deserve to lose if you do that. Very rookie move.
Lol, you clearly haven't seen many Dark games. He's done shit like this against literally everyone.

Dark, I knew it but I still thought I'd get a sip of beer first before bursting out laughing !
That moment of recognition over the overlord drops is golden
The queen RP is honestly my favorite part of your casting style
Those shield batteries on the highground in game two are awesome.
It's not a 4 corners Bingo win unless you complete a Hatchery/Nexus/Command Center in the opponent's main base location. I don't know if it HAS to be right next to the minerals or if a Planetary Fortress rush adjacent to their base counts.
Dark's "classic strategy" at the end 😅
These guys and Scarlett just seem to have so much fun.
This is actually a scarlettesque game come to think of it!
I mean talking about Astrea's phoenix reluctance - Because he built such an overwhelming ground army and delayed phoenixes so long, Dark was utterly commited to Mutas, he couldn't contest with the ground army any other way - he could remax and it just wasnt enough, one semi decisive fight and it was just over

Great video, as per usual!
I don't know why your cast vids always have the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic soundtrack on a loop, but I approve.
why do I love the Karen Queen voice so much? Is there something wrong with me?
I dont know, I love it too xD
Oh a sneaky little rearrangement for our viewing pleasure. I dont mind, it was worth it.
" 4 corners, bingo strategy" lol 💀
Danke!
Hey Winter! Just wanted to say once again that I really enjoy your commenting. Love the jokes, the memes and the credibility of your casting. Thanks!
Mr Zergachov got me cant lie😂😂😂
"The closer we are to danger, the farther we are from harm. It's the least they will expect."
what a fun game! already starts off so interactive
Becoming somewhat of an astrea fan, he does some things very well. Let's hope he keeps improving, especially in the P lategame.
this game got me sitting on the edge of my chair, You are a good caster
"Wait. He's got nothing. I don't need mutas".
Astrea scouts the the hatch outside his natural, "eh I've seen better"
What a series. Great cast Winter!
The hatchery owners association 🤣🤣🤣
Dark is a wild child
"Under-panicked" with 12 cannons.
very nice first game - at the last game i almost startet crying seeing the Protoss-forces heavily outnumbered, surrounded and drowned 8(
I was really hoping game 1 would've gone on just a little longer, just for Astrea to scout that base half mined out and gg on the spot. Ah well.
Thank You

Literally sat by the computer with a homemade pizza on a plate and BOOM 46 seconds ago
I remember an actual Bronze League Hero game in which a zerg did slowvie bane drops into a mineral line.

Dark is my favourite player to watch cause he’s so interesting in his play style….
Dark brutally taking advantage of collossus ADHD.
How I like to start my Sunday. Ribs on the smoker. Cooking breakfast and a video from winter. Gonna be a good day.
Astrea just counter himself.

Winter on fire. Great one

Agree
I serious feel Protoss should build their PYLON all over the map like Zerg creeps
some love from Europe👑🖤
I don't why but this series made me remember "HAS." does anyone know what happened to him?
You know its gonna be good games to watch if Dark is one of the players xD
Dark games unmatched
omg the first game was so so good and enjoyable to watch
Queen HOAs lol.

This video has 24 thousand views in the last 12 hours... That's amazing.

slowerlord drops :D
Liked and subscribed for HOA Karen Queen
Phonix needs redone, no way a Air unit can't attack ground, it should be like StarCraft I, it just do low damage to ground
