Dry Brined Chicken Quarters (legs and thighs) smoked on a Pit Barrel Smoker using The Grill Dads Rub

- In this new video, Ron smokes some chicken quarters in a Pit Barrel smoker. This type of cooker is very easy to use and creates some incredibly tasty meats. There are a number of different ways to cook in these barrels and Ron opted to hang the meat so that the smoke and heat would completely surround it and fully develop the flavor.

Oh yeah, perfect timing!! Just set up my Hunsaker and will do my first cook this weekend. Making 2 of your recipes. This one for sure and the Mississippi Pot Roast. Gonna be some good eats next week!!!
Very nice! I can’t wait to see. Cook the Mississippi roast at a lower temp than I did. I think 275° would be good.
@@CptnRon302 Duly noted!☺
So, did you ever make it?
@@FOGOcharcoal OMG! Yes I did and it was FANTABULOUS!!🥰 I did use a flour/potato starch batter and the Hunsaker gets hot enough to 'air fry' the chicken, but with a smoked flavor. Yummy for my tummy. My Mississippi Pot Roast was so scrumptious!! 🤗 I really appreciate your channel and your cooking style.
Great video! The chicken looks great! I just had my Fogo delivered today! Whew!!!
Hey Kathy, that’s so great! Tag me if you post about it so I’m sure not to miss anything!
Thanks Kathy, enjoy!
Another awesome video Uncle Ron!!!!
You Jer, thanks so much my man
The PBC is always a great choice to smoke food on. I’ve had one for about 2 1/2 year and haven’t used my egg or offset smoker in over a year. I will use them in the future, but just realize the other day it had been that long since I used my other smokers. I gotta try those dry brines!
I have to say, the food turned out unreal and it was easy as heck to use. I can understand why you like it so much!
Yes sir, we really enjoyed using it. It’s really easy snd produces such great food!
Great video. Love my PBC. Need to dust it off and use it again.
Thank you sir! I won’t lie, I had to dust this one off but it won’t get that way again!
Love those close up slow shots!! Awesome video!
Hey Sylvia, Thank you, I really appreciate the input!
Was looking for a way to cook my leg quarters in my Pitt Barrel cooker yesterday and this was the first video I viewed. Perfect KISS (keep it simple silly) guide. I saw how you hung them & heard your guesstimated time, that was all I needed to do my own thing. PERFECT fall off the bone, juicy deliciousness! Thanks for sharing.
You just made my day Josephine, thanks so much, I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
Katelynn is gorgeous!!! Best part of the video that’s for sure!!
Thank you, she is very dear to me.
Felicidades muy buen video.
Sebastián te queremos. Espero verte antes que se acabe el año en un nuevo vídeo.
Gracias Luis!
Let go and ley God
Solid cook. Looks wonderful. Thank you for sharing. :-D
Hey Sean, thanks, that means a lot!
Those look delicious! My PBC puts out fantastic food! Great stuff!
Thanks! I was really impressed with the results, we really ate well that night!
The barrel reminds me a lot of the Orion Cooker I had years ago.
Do you use it much or just sticking to the Egg?
I picked up a PBC on a garage sale site for $40. It needed some TLC and was missing the rebar and hooks. I got lucky and saved a little cash, but after cooking on it, I would pay every penny they ask brand new! It's just a awesome awesome smoker/grill.
Stumbled across your channel looking for a little inspiration for some leg quarters today. Great video and family.. Thanks for the help 😀
Yes sir, they are great cookers! Thanks for the kind words. BTW, I love a good garage sale find.
Loved the video! What temp are you running the PBC at?
Hey Bryan, I’m not sure what the temp was. They’re designed to burn between 275-300°. There’s not much adjustment to these babies.
@@CptnRon302 I have done some research on the Pit Barrel and I am seeing that actual ranges run from 275 to 335. That is a much bigger range than I like, and not know the actual temp isn't something I feel comfortable with, unless there were a gauge on the cooker. I was just wondering. Love your videos brother.
@@bmoorhead I was concerned about that as well but it seems to cook really evenly. That may be the first time I’ve ever cooked on a smoker/grill with no temp gauge
Love this video!!!!
Thanks so much my friend, we really appreciate it!
The first is called bada-bing, and the second should be bada-bam.
BOOM!!! There it is, I love the way you think!
👌🔥👌🔥👌🔥
Thanks man, I’m glad you liked it!
