Used to watch my uncle work on old flat v6s and flat 6s. He'd always dump Marvels Mystery oil down the Cylinders and fill the intake/exhaust(with exhaust manifolds off and holes partially plugged) and just let it sit for a day or so before he hand cranked it and emptied it out and replaced all the oil. Always amazed me at how little effort it took to get those old engines running again.
You shouldn't replace original Ford letters to match a replacement letter. Having the replacement stand out is honest restoration, and it tells the story of the vehicle.
Marvel mystery oil in fuel and oil on initial start and 30 wt in crankcase don't forget fan hub oil top off and distributor oil Marvel mystery oil in cylinders is best .... and change oil filter cartridge and oil .... before start Our machine shop works on many of these engines good video
It's come a long way from sitting on the farm piled with junk. I remember seeing a rebuilder's tag on the driver's side cylinder head. If you can get it loosened up, it should hopefully not be worn out inside!
Thanks for this video. Been thinking about getting a vintage Ford of this era. Looks like a lot of work to to get the flathead working. Would it be possible to swap it for a more modern ohv?
