Underrated but best coach who match vibe with you😢😂❤
Thanks for your kind words! I'm doing my best to be my best 🙏🙏🙏
tq
Lol, I play volleyball for a loooong time as a hobby, I was always bad at setting, but as soon as you said "burger hands" I stood up and tried and I was like "aaaaaaah! Now I get it!" So excited to try during practice next week. The feeling is waaaaay better than before. Thank you so much!!!
I will say, that point about having your index fingers and thumbs being the same distance was a great point and feel it's often not mentioned. It's a great way to keep things consistent and an easy marker for hand positioning. Plus you can feel your muscles feel off once you start rotating and changing the finger distances.
Yeah it's often forgotten by even very high level players.
I had played volleyball for some time but quit due to feeling a little burnt out. Then we have some volleyball in the high school i had just started, and i tried it again. Absolutely loved it.
Out of everything I did that day, nothing beat that feeling i got when i did a backwards set and my teammate scored on it
Canon event 🙏
you had your moment (haikyuu reference)
As someone who just got recommended to be a setter by my friend, im really grateful! Im still a beginner, but i might have the skill to be a setter, and this helps me a lot with that. Thanks!
i've been playing a casual league volleyball for a few seasons, never really played before otherwise. after watching this video, my team said i basically became a completely different player over night, made a huge difference. thanks for explaining in such a clear and entertaining way. love your vibe man
Great tutorial! Love the burger hands and missile lock on explanation
So happy it helps! I love using imagery and story telling, it defs helps me 😊🙏
With the first tip my set Immediately become better with just burger hands my set dont spin that much anymore thank you this video is on so easy to learn
Artie you are a great coach/mentor! A coaching opportunity has popped up for myself so I’m rewatching all your vids to prepare
Fantastic! Hope my coaching vids can help 🙏
I must say that you are the best coach ever 👍.Please don't change
this was so much help, ive been trying to set for ages, i can pass and serve perfectly but setting was my weakness!! ive watched countless videos on how to properly set and none has helped me as much as this video did. the first tip was a tip i’ve never heard before and immediately improved my setting. thank you so much!❤
Choo choo! Thank you... tomorrow will be the next training session. I will: hop onto the train like a spring and eat my burger there while targeting the ball 😊
i've been playing volleyball for 3 years and still don't know how to become a setter but this video help a lot
Thank you coach
This is helping me SO MUCH! I’ve never been a setter before and my coach put me as one for this season so I’m trying to do as best as I can
So happy it helps! Good luck this season!
Just something to be careful with the back set. I feel like doing the 'backstroke' movement is an easy way of getting into the back set as a beginner but a dangerous habit to maintain overtime. I've been taught that staying neutral is key. Either way good video!
Thank you for another video, coach! Best coach EVER!!
Wow, thank you!🙏🙏🙏
Thank you. This is very helpful!❤I am a bad setter and i have been playing volleyball for years! I always get double when setting. I will apply these tomorrow!
I've played volleyball for years and I'm still super bad at setting, so thank u for the video I'll put it on practice
Thank you Coach! Your wacky names on how to do a set helped me out tremendously. Tryouts are in January, and I really suck at setting. My sets would always be low, and having the part where the ball should hit your head aided me so much. Subbed!
I'm glad my wacky names are helping! Don't forget to be kind to yourself. You don't suck, you're learning. ☺️
The swimming analogy really helped I did swim team for about 3 years
Really fundamental material for begginers. Very cool video)
Glad you liked it! Thanks for your feedback.
Bestest explanation available must watch 😃
Thank you for this, I started playing volleyball a year ago and joined a club and made it to a team a couple months ago. I got the setter position (I’m on the younger side) and I wanted to see what I can do to improve! Thx!
Hope it helps 😊
I love this vid coach, could you please consider doing one for spike approach that is similar in format and complexity?
Started volleyball about a year ago and learnt 2-step approach to keep things simple but now I struggle learning the 4-step approach you showed in previous vids.
Love your work!
Thanks 😊Hmmm Im not sure what else I could cover when it comes to approach that I havent already in the 4 step vid. let me think on it 😁
I love you Coach Artie! You've helped me so much for the short amount of time I've been playing volleyball. Keep it up!
Glad to hear it! Give yourself credit though. I only give the info, you put it into work

Thank you now I can set
THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED, THANK UUU
Happy I could help 😊🙏
i know this will help me a lot im a 5'8 setter thanks coach!!!
No problem!! Happy the vid helps ,😊🙏
This really helped me with setting and it's really entertaining watching this video, you make everything childish like and it's fun
I take that as a massive compliment! I try my best to make it as simple as possible!
Good tips 100% will work
finger contact point max n uniform
ball on forehead consistent
spring body
perpendicular body to net
Love the tone and energy here. :) Was gonna say to add footwork, net leg in front etc and boom there it was. Nice.
Aye! Massive compliment thanks!! ☺️🙏
@@coachartie In our club we have been discussing the differences between the European approach to setting technique and the Americas and Asia and Australia. Really interesting. Seems to me the European way is a bit harder to learn, due to much more thumb impulse and less arms, while the "giant hamburger" seems to be more accessible, especially when entering the sport and/or moving back and forth between beach and indoor. What's your take on that?
That's a really interesting idea on setting. I'm going to be honest I've never even considered it being taught differently depending on location but it makes sense.
What a cool idea.
I guess I made this video with me breaking down my understanding of setting into simple imagery.
Would this video be considered an Australian way of teaching? Or another way? I'm so curious 🤔
@@coachartie Yeah, in Europe we have this thumb-flick that provides some more energy to cover more distance. It's quite hard to learn and often results in spinning balls and ref calls. After you master it (I don't), it's awesome. In our club we have a colleague player (and coach) joining us for the next months, providing sooo much more perspective and food for thought. I hope we manage to combine the best of two worlds and encourage our players to adapt what works best for them individually.
nice advices, nice mood, nice coach
Thank you! 😃 Appreciate your words 😌
OMGG, GREAT TIPSSSS, Thanks coach!. You can a make a video about the block? I have some difficulties with the block
He should definitely do one about blocking!
Great suggestion! 🙏
Love u sir, respect
Appreciate your support
I'm Brazilian and my English is basic, but the video is so well explained that I understood the explanation perfectly and I'm going to put it into practice. Thank you for the tips🏐💟
That's a massive compliment thank you. I'm glad the vid has helped 😁
I loved it ty coach
Woot woot!
Awesome video, very much enjoyed it 😊

Thank you!!
Hope it helps 😊
Hello coach i hope you are doing good i wanted to ask what i should do if my shoulder hurts when i spike and thanks for these videos ❤
Do You warm up your shoulders before playing?
yes thank you very much coach artie you deserve a sub with noti
Thanks for the sub! 🙏🙏🙏
@@coachartie thanks to this video i learned how to set and i won my first vball tourney
Thanks for this. Could you do tips for: learning how to aim the set better? I follow all these cues but sometimes I put in far too much power, and my accuracy is unreliable. Also I can't tell where the ball is going to go when I back set, sometimes it goes into the net, sometimes way past the court.
Also with jump serving am I supposed to just use spiking footwork once I've learned how to throw it consistently?
For starters try and be square to the net. When setting either forwards or backwards, your shoulder are 90 degress to the net and the ball should travel parallel to the net. Everything else is a shit ton of practice. Theres no other secret to aiming, than what coach artie said and 10 000 repetitions of the same. Try and see how the ball feels, if you set badly. Were you under the ball and where did your hands touch the ball? Noticing that and practicing consistently will make you a great setter with time
Ok thanks. I feel my sets getting more consistent so I think im doing it technically right, just need more practice as you said since I have only some rec hours per week and no practice gym space.
Do you have any advice for spiking timing tho? Im 6'5 and can easily reach above the net, but I find myself often too early and under the ball even though i wait for setter contact.
I also struggle to hit down and get on top of the ball even though I know i should be contacting the top, not the side of it@@oniichan242
Awesome video man :)
Glad you enjoyed it😊🙏
Not me thinking 'oh I can trick the blockers with my back set form and set forward' right before he shows why it won't work 💀
Hahaha we all go through it!
Very nice video. I just have one question: How would you set the back row in this case?
Good question! In there.will have to be an adjustment in the angle.of you set or the power distribution between hands. I think of it more of a throw with my hand claser to the net. I know it's not the best explanation 🤣 I'll try make a vid on it in the future
Hope that make sense 🙏😊
Best coach
I do my best to be my best 🙏🙏🙏
tq so much..very helpful video
Happy to hear that 😊🙏
You said we would not have enough power in our forearms but I do archery and HEMA style sword fighting both of those HEAVILY rely on your forearms
hella good video
Glad you enjoyed 😊🙏
hoo hoo this is setter's video😁😁😁
Nice I’ll remember the burger hands
🍔🙌
Thanks coach ❤️
Glad I could help ☺️🙏
Thanks Artie , Have a nice day .
My day was nice!!! Thanks for your support 😊🙏
*sees him setting w one hand* me: " omg, u can set w one hand??? Insaneee! "
him: " Dont do one hand sets. Don't copy me. "
me: " oh. "
nice video🌞
Thank you 😁🙏
Boss thank you❤❤❤
Hope it helps 🙏
great video :3
But ive got a question, is there any benefit to jump when setting? Like- ive done a few times just out of fun and i think its easier to just boop the ball over the net at second contact as a setter as a surprise attacl sometimes, but is it something worth to learn consistently?
Jump settings best weapon is giving you the oppotunity as a setter to spike or dump the ball. Mostly when your front court though
Consider myself subscribed 👍
Woot Woot 🙌🙏
Love your content. When setting, what should my target and height be for an effective set?
Setting an effective ball really deopends on who your setting. Biggest goal as a setter should be setting in and off the net to give your spikers as many options as possible.
Great video
Thanks. Hope it helped 😁🙏
Thanks for the video sir
Hope it helps 😊
I'm not the best player at voley, but I play alot in my neighborhood and sometimes on small competitions, sometimes me and some friends play on public a public park that has a volleyball ball section and how is a public park there are a lot of kids, and some parentes have contacted me to teach their kids voley because they like it a lot, now I'm watching to learn stuff again 😅
Hope I can help!!! Love how you got into the game!!! 🙏
Helped me
So happy!
I never liked volleyball until about two months ago, when I realized that playing in a team is one of the best things out there. I've been practising frequently since then, and I just recently decided I wanted to be setter, an ambitious goal. Your video will definitely be a big help with my practice, and I can't wait to try the tips shown in this guide tomorrow!
Wow! Love your journey!!! Good luck on your journey! Hope the vid helps 😊
I love this guy vibe
I love your support 😊🙏
Nice video coach! Just a query for you :
I've been setting for quite some time now so I can set correctly 80% of the times my sets are accurate and the rest 20% are manageable ,
I have analysed and got some feedback and came to the conclusion that my negative points are:.
I can't see the position of the blockers while setting ( you know the thing that you know where the blockers are with your quick side eye)
2 I can't jump set on bad passes
3 what to do when all of my attackers are getting shut down?
Great analysis of your strengths and weaknesses. In my mind when Im coaching a setter, knowing where the blockers are is a minor objective and not as important as people think. I think as long as you can get a consistent set to your spikers they need to put in the work!
When all your attackers are getting shut down its easy to try and rely on your best spiker, but if every ball is going to them you get predictable as a setter. Stay strong and keep your options open.
Hope this help 😊
I always had tons of inconsistency with my sets😂, sometimes my sets were perfect for the opponents haha, and now i still do
😂😂 yeeeep I've defs been there before. Giving the blockers perfect sets 😂🙏
Is it possible to keep points "Missle Launcher Lock On" and "Consistent Contact Point" in cases that ball is not passed well (and coming nicely from above)?
Me and my frieds are playing mostly for fun with really messy passes sometimes.
I am not sure how hard i should stick to these rules if pass is low, out of the place and looks it hard to set. Should i still try set while sticking to consistent contact point, or it is better to make sure that i will be able to set somehow instead trying to do it in good way, and try nice sets with better passes?
My main philosophy is you get better at what you practice. If you practice great technique on bad passes, you'll get better at setting those bad passes.
I recomend trying your best to follow the keys, but I also understand in some cases its a bit unreasonable to expect that.
But yeah, do you best!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you sir
🙏🙏🙏
he aquí en ingles Thanks for the video, the truth is I'm not a very good setter but I am the setter of a volleyball team and although I'm not that good this video helped me because I didn't take into account several important points that you said such as the very funny and important hamburger hands
good

are you able to get all 10 fingers on the ball when you set, or do you just manage to get 8 or less
Usually it’s the first 3 fingers. Thumb pointer and middle finger
❤❤
🙏🙏🙏
How do you do a serve with a top spin without it just going on your side of the court??
can you show us some setting training
W video
🙏🙏🙏
what is the correct ball contanct while setting?
I’m so FRICKING nervous I’m in fifth grade and I’m PLAYING WITH eight grade today IDK HOW TO EVEN SET OR SPIKE
just curious how tall is that net, and how tall are you?
