hey coach, i've been usually passing and setting mainly with my thumb and index, but i see in this video that more of middle finger gets involved and the strength mainly comes from the index. Would this be the same for both setting and overhand passing? If possible, could you make a video on this explaining in a little more detail please?
As a setter, this was a great video for me, thanks! Love each point. That court seems awesome, indoor and next to a venue for eating and stuff. Would love to visit that place one day.
It would be interesting to hear the Joe’s experience playing with high level players from different countries and whether their background affects their playing style (ie. do players from country A tend to be more physical/hard hitting while players from country B more technical? Do setters from some countries tend to prefer certain tempos/play styles?) . It would give a good flavour of how volleyball is coached and developed in different areas of the world
I would love if the out of system channel did this more often and did tips and trick videos they are both very good players and good coaches.Good Work Coach Donny 👍🏽👍🏽
I used to think that he plays differently in games than in his tutorials. From this video I realise I was wrong, he always goes back to the neutral position, never doing something unnecessary always doing what he taught us. Really inspiring man, keep up the great work :)
Great Video! It's funny. I'm from germany and watched these guys at the Playoffs of german 1st Bundesliga and i also watch your Videos all the time to get bettet at Volleyball myself. For me the perfekt colaboration. 👍👍👍
I’m 13, 6,1 and I’m still projected to keep growing but i really respect smaller players on the court. Not sure if I’ll grow to be 6,4 or 6,5 or only grow an inch or two. But there is so much more respect for shorter players on the court that defy the odds and play positions that don’t usually align with their height.
I'm 16 years and I'm a setter, I know Im not tall 180cm, but I do gym, it helps my vertical (33 inches) and blocking height. I have a strong jump serve but suck receiving 💀💀💀
4:03 could you focus on those small tips for next video? the camera was kinda shaky so i couldn't even make out exactly which those 'two fingers' were, but i'd assume he means his index fingers?
I'm trying to figure out how to not have your thumbs as the main players in a set!? To me the thumbs are every bit as important to a good set as any of the other fingers!
i believe forcing the middle means that if a ball isn’t the most substantial to be able to set middle, for example an out of system ball, the setter will still set to the middle anyways
As a setter, I was always taught to be facing the 1 zone, even when stepping off the net for a pass. Coach, I notice that you are facing away from the net and then turning at the last second towards the 1 zone to set. You really want to almost side-step/cross-step (if far enough away) to the pass, while maintaining facing the direction of the 1 zone. You can't see the opposing team's middle blocker if your back is to the net.
Hey Coah, very helpful video! When is the quick setting video coming out? I can really relate to you as an older player (39 this June) with some knee pain. I will be a first time setter in our upcoming local league so I need some quick setting pointers as I'm not in the condition to spike yet.
I'm pretty new to volleyball so I don't really know the correct wording, but sometimes when I'm receiving a serve it'll be too high to dig so I try to set instead, but then it will just kinda roll/bounce off my fingers and go backwards, why is that happening? And is there anything I can do to stop it?
always fun seeing the tourney life through the vlogs! do ya'll still also have the vnl/vbtv discount codes? I don't remember which video I saw you guys mentioning it on...

Do you have or know any training programs near Reading PA because i play for a homeschool team but the coaches don’t have much volleyball experience and i fell like there showing us the same thing and we’re not learning anything more advanced or more in depth.
Hello coach Donny, yesterday at one of the try out for a team I wanted to play setter but the coach put on the opposite but i really wanted to show case that i have the potential and the skills to be a setter which is my main position so i wanna know how do I tell him because I’ve already said so without looking too stubborn that i want to play setter
@@tixz. I think its possible but you will have to train harder than those who have played from a younger age. If you are tall as well that increases odds.
how tall are you? my coach started volleyball at 17, 2.05m and ended up playing professionally in the german bundesliga for a few seasons. easiest way to 'catch up' is being tall and playing middle, since it's the least technical position. if you're willing and able to put in the work, in descending order of technical difficulty it's middle -> opposite -> outside -> libero -> setter
Hi, I am not here to give negative comment. It would habe been good that the "pro" player correct your setting technique. Your elbow are much to wide from each other, which will lead to not accurate contact of the ball with your finger which lead to lost of precision.
the “pro” player didn’t really need to because his technique is correct :) while elbows being too far out is bad, his are at the right spot and as you saw in the video led to accurate sets almost every time

Hey Coach, thank you for the great video and advices. I'm a young setter and would like to ask where the pop sound comes from. keep up the great work!
Great video! Thanks! Question - whats forcing middle eight or late 11:30 mean?
i believe forcing the middle means that if a ball isn’t the most substantial to be able to set middle, for example an out of system ball, the setter will still set to the middle anyways
Is there a way for an adult to join a practice squad or a team to learn more in-depth volleyball? Like a dojo but for volleyball
Coach Donny is so good
wow thanks!

Why Joe is not joining NT? I would love to see him set NT hitter and wear red, white, and blue. I saw Gage wore the uniform but Joe has not.
Thanks for these videos
Coach Donny: Can you do a video on how to do shoot sets to outside hitter please?
shouldn't the touch be more silent and soft? i'm asking because i work a lot on that
can u talk about the positions and roles they play
