Unfortunately, reactions to Wild Woody’s “Treasure Caves,” The Zoo Race’s “Love the Lord Your God,” and Kingdom Hearts’ “Simple and Clean” had to be trimmed or fully cut due to copyright!
I don’t own the rights to any of the songs in the video.
You gotta listen to the Resident Evil Directors Cut basement theme. That is peak garbage. The true abyss
for context the directors cut has the bad version of the basement theme the other versions are usually the better versions
For more context, the person who composed that one was at the time considered to be a very talented deaf composer. Years later, it turns out he could hear all along.
Resident Evil Survivor Mr. X Lab theme is another peak garbage song from an iconic franchise
@@lorenzosandoval7328 although the music is great the trumpet is bad😂😂😂
@@lorenzosandoval7328 bless you, never heard it, it is garbage, its great thanks
Fun fact about Psycho Soldier. That was actually the first vocal theme ever recorded for a video game. So even though it's not the best sounding it is historical. Also the remixes of that song over the year are certified bangers.
The Smash Bros Ultimate version is sooooo good!
That is interesting! I love learning trivia about OSTs. Also I like your Edgeworth pfp
@jonathand.4088 The Ultimate version is the only other time the song was dubbed into english to my knowledge and whst a redemption.
@battleapple I'm glad you enjoyed the trivia and thank you, the edgeworth PFP has kind of become my staple.
@@jonathand.4088 Both the English and Japanese smash ultimate versions of Psycho Soldier are bangers! There are more versions of the song out there that are very good as well.
Buck Bumble theme is a legit BANGER. The music genre is Speed Garage if anyone is curious :>
Buck Bumble being on here is a crime. I havw to assume it's ironic.
It's my first time I've heard music from the game. I remember seeing ads for it as a kid.
Anyone who seriously dislikes Buck Bumble theme has bad taste and lacks joy
Without even watching, I'm gonna assume CrazyBus is on here. Lol
Edit: I'm genuinely shocked CrazyBus isn't on here. That's as iconic as worst music in gaming gets.
It's barely music, just like how crazy bus is barely a game
@@n_worderit was still "composed" but yeah I agree
@@VelvetAuraI thought it was just randomized notes being played
It's probably later in the playlist.
I figured it out. The playlist is based on CONEY's stream, and he said Crazy Bus was banned
*burning men's soul start playing*
"There's nothing wrong with this"
I had the biggest grin on my face there. The long lead up to the vocals on that song is diabolical.
ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL I TELL YOU!
The one from Sonic Chronicles is actually reusing an older Sonic song from Sonic 3D Blast (Diamond Dust Zone Act 1), except it actually sounded good on that game (you should give that one a listen!)
I think there might have been misinterpretations for what "bad music" is in the context of video games. Cause some songs are just repetitive on purpose, or composed for very specific scenarios/scenes, so they accomplish what they did.
And then there are horrible ear scratching "songs" which could be considered objectively bad.
And theres also the ones here just for the silly af lyrics like the persona trinity one, which honestly just for that should be heard, cause its funny.
I guess that in the case of songs specific to scenarios, the songs aren't good in terms of "I wouldn't listen to this in my free time" and, well, yeah, it wasn't made for that
I’m glad Sonic Eraser is one of the first ones you covered because that’s instantly what came to my mind haha
Sonic Chronicles HAD a full soundtrack made for it, but because of the sheer incompetence of Sega and Bioware (shocking for 2008, Bioware was on top of their game at that time) they couldn't get the rights to USE it in the game. So everything you hear in it was done extremely last-minute.
That’s wild.
The top of Bioware's game wasn't exactly very high though was it. All their games are fucking boring.
On top of that, they just took a bunch of fan-made MIDIs from the late 90s and threw them in the game with no optimization.
"It's not too bad"
*moments later*
[ AAAAGH AAAAAGH ]
"Ooookay"
Recognized the song as soon as you put it on I was ready
Oh I just realized, this is the playlist for CONEY's "worst video game music" tier list
Fire emblem three houses on here is a straight crime
I mean I kinda get Shambala in that it makes no sense on Three Houses soundtrack but it isn't bad.
I didn't play 3 Houses, but I did play Engage and most of the past games. I find it unusual to have dubstep in a Fire Emblem game, but this ain't bad. If you asked me what game it was from, Fire Emblem wouldn't even come to mind.
It’s just dated “dubstep baaad”
@@marche800
It's the part of the game where you fight underground space alien mole people who use magical mechs in their Tron techno fortress, and the goal of the map is to stop their orbital satellite that fires modern-day nuclear weapons. Being out of place is the _perfect_ thing for it. If it blended in, it would have failed.
@@UltimateCerberus
Refer to the comment I just left. It makes perfect sense in context because the map is also left-field.
In what world does Kingdom Hearts belong on a list like this, let alone Simple and Clean
They probably just wanted to extend the video length by adding another song but forgot it was supposed to be a video about bad music or something idk
Why the fuck is Crazy Chocobo song on here?!
People don't like it for some reason, so they just think it's bad? But I think they're crazy (no pun intended). It's composed really well and it's a fun song.
And other song submissions have songs made for goofy scenarios. Dunno who submitted them but I don't think they understand what bad vg music is. There are choices that are objectively bad, and some that are subjective I guess, like the dubstep one. I'm sure dubstep enjoyers love that song, but sonic chronicles sounds like ass no matter who you ask
It sounds SO different from what I'd expect from a Chocobo theme, I get why it's here.
@@TopCape Not if you ask me. Music is entirely subjective, and depends on expectations of the listener.
@@genyakozlov1316 Yeah, and those expectations are different depending on how you're listening. For instance, in the context of the game the song comes from, a weird or silly song might fit the circumstances and, therefore, your expectations. The way you first experience the song can shape your whole idea of it. Even time can do this: a song you've heard long ago and didn't think much of now means something more to you. Subjectivity is volatile.
Now, look up crazy bus' menu theme. It's objectively bad, probably done on purpose tbh. Sucks in-game, sucks out of it. Sucks no matter what situation your in. It's dissonant random tones that make your ears bleed. THAT'S what I mean
13:57 the thing about this god forsaken track is that it's tied to a video that you have to rewatch so.. SO MANY TIMES throughout the chapter it's in... over.. and over... and over.. and we getit the ds can play cool videos but why.. WHY CAPCOM WHY
OOHHHHHH RIGHT! It’s all coming back to me. That song gets real old real fast…
I actually like the game Psycho Soldier a lot. Give a listen to the original song that was released on cassette. It's very catchy in all of its 80's wonder!
Who's the crackhead that suggested to put Xenoblade music in there? That's one of the only JRPG series that I'd say SURPASSES Persona in soundtrack quality.
the three houses one is great i think actually, may be ill fitting of a fire emblem game but it makes the weirdo cult enemies even weirder
GIRLLLLL THE PAYDAY ONE GOT ME LAUGHING WHEN THE GUY SCREAMED
CHECK IT I'M IN THE HOUSE LIKE CARPET
Whaaat? The FFXIII-2 Chocobo theme is GREAT! I also love the New LA track from Xenoblade X, yall are nuts
When I saw Persona 4 on the thumbnail I WAS SHOCKED
Until you heard that in P4D had some absolute bangers like Specialists, then something like the hot garbage remix like Shadow World
Putting any song from FE3H on this list is crazy.
Oh my god, the FL Studio thing sent me 😂 Anyone who's dabbled in it has made a pos and been soooo into it cause its YOUR pos!
22:17 I’ve heard worse versions of the National Anthem at live sporting events.
Lmao
Street Fighter soundtracks are amazing and are absolutely worth checking out... Street Fighter 1 however is the complete opposite
Honestly all i learned from this list is some people cant tell the difference between subjective and objective bad music a lot of the time LOL like the silly music like the death metal chocobo song and stuff like clearly its just meant to be A little silly but its not composed badly , or the persona song is giving bars written by a white man but again, not the worst thing i ever heard.
Sonic chronicles and that ballz game is just genuine ass but thats because not only are the sound fonts are bad but theyre actually badly composed and earsore so that makes sense for it to be here LOL
I just cant stand fe3h being on here, dubstep isnt my fave either but like the context of the story and who the theme is meant for, i swear it makes total sense and honestly it elevated the chapter for me. Actual war crime that its here.
Oh my goodness. This playlist is from CONEY's worst video game music tier list video
Sonic has some of the best soundtracks in video game history, and that’s facts…
…but everyone flops every now and then
Xenoblade X’s soundtrack is amazing. NLA’s (main city) theme is the only exception really. Even the Barracks theme that’s inside the city, which has a same vibe as NLA’s night theme, sounds great simply because it doesn’t use those weird vocals. I dunno what Sawano was thinking with that XD
maybe some of these songs are on this list because they are from games that usually have great soundtracks. Like the Xenoblade and Persona songs.
Although I really like both Xenoblade songs which are in the list and absolutely don’t get their placement.
anything from sonic chronicles dark brotherhood is bad dont let it fool you
That fire emblem track makes me want to chug a gallon of Monster
The Xenoblade X song made me die laughing. It’s just a normal song with a rap beat but instead of actual rap it’s just some guy going “uh uh yeah yeah yeah yeah” and sounding like he was punched in the balls. And then we get a vaguely Arabic sounding guitar for some reason. And then it goes rock with the uh uh guy in the back.
WHY IS SIMPLE AND CLEAN IN THERE BROOO
Respect for the Buck Bumble love
you should make a video like this for the yotube channel "siivagunner" i wont spoil to much its a crazy rabbit hole
Whoever made this video of bad vgm just has bad tastes, it seems. Like only about 3 or 4 were in the "yeah thats kinda bad" category while everything else was either around "it's ok.." to "I'm confused" range. Also how dare they try to disrespect Hikaru Utada like that. Maybe if I check out the whole video myself or wait for your next part of this, they might redeem themselves but so far it's not looking good for them lol.
Edit: oh it's a playlist of "bad vgm". I thought it was a video. Looking through the list I knew some of the tracks on there would be on there lmao! But I noticed there was like creepy/scary music that's supposed to be unsettling to listen to just there on the list as "awful" music; when you know, its supposed to make you feel uncomfortable 😂. I won't be too harsh on the person though. If they find the music to be personally bad to them, that's ok. I'm just confused why it's a public list. Maybe to steer up discussion or discourse.
I swear people only put the Xenoblade songs here because they hate Xenoblade. The Xenoblade X song is specifically a variant of a different song that is much more high energy
this channel should get more recognition
Surprised there isn't some Drakengard 1 in here
Both of the spiderman songs sound like a thing Yuno Miles would use... 💀
I wish Yuno were still around to use those as beats 😥
the english version of psycho soldier is super low quality, but the japanese one is too.... it just has a better singer. the best version of psycho soldier imo is from kof '94 arrange soundtrack. i'd say its one of the best tracks SNK has made in their giant catalog.
Re: The Double Dribble national anthem, now I understand why the national anthem at CPAC 2022 (or was it 21?) was what it was: she was clearly doing a cover of this version of it!
The soundtrack for 1942 sounded like a hearing test. And Mumble Blues is what would happen if Animal from the Muppets started scatting.
That song from Dementia: Armed and Delirious is entirely in line with the rest of the game. It's an absolute wacko game. Any notion you have of what is proper game design goes completely out of the window in that game.
I recommend watching Game Dungeon's two-part episode on it.
If anything, that song is the sanest part of the game.
Lavender town music 😂
The muv-luv track is definitely Ricky Martin. The XIII-2 track is not my favorite from the OST, the singing and it's melody is really goofy, but the guitar sections playing the chocobo theme song SLAPS.
I haven't listened to all the video yet, but Megaman II for the Gameboy's ost is very harshly high pitched, but I like a fair amount of how it turns out because of it, understand how it's controversial though.
What's that "woohoo" in the Spiderman one, I can't even😂😂😂😂😂
if you do a part 2 we need Sonic Spinball Options Menu and the cover of the Can-Can from Just Dance... either 2020 or 2021
Fun fact: cover musician GaMetal once made a metal cover of the 1942 soundtrack's first track as an April Fool's joke... Then after 14 seconds it turned into an original(I think?) track which genuinely slaps
I swear to God, if the Crazy Bus theme is in here, I will be very upset. That is one of the greatest masterpieces in musical history, not just video game music.
The funny thing about burning men's soul is that the rap in the music was just sampled from a cd sample from the early 2000s witch is why it has this funny lyrics, and the flow is kinda off, I suggest seeing a video about samples in videogames, it is very interesting aspect of gaming music, specially in games like Sonic CD or street fighter 3.
That dementia one is just the classic funny parody of louis, i can't hate it for what it's doing. Might not be great music, but it's great at trying to not be great music.
Buck Bumble isn’t bad it is 🔥 it literally goes so hard these people have no taste
7:22 the famous one 😂
Funny that Xenoblade 2 is on there because that's generally considered one of the best game soundtracks overall lol
The Buck Bumble theme sounds like it could've easily been snuck into a Jet Set Radio soundtrack
Edit: I had tears in my eyes when the thought in my head was "The song from Ballz is very close to being penis music"
I was like "Psycho Soldier? What's that?", then I heard the vocals! If you get the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection for the Switch, it's on there! Fun fact: THAT was the very first game (arcade or home console) to have music with live vocals. Sometimes the first isn't always the best, but there ya go!
I played 1942, but I can't say I remember that song. Maybe I didn't get very far in it.
I completely understood why "New LA Night" made it. After awhile you get used to the "incomplete" sounding rap/rock song due to the lack of lyrics, but I certainly do HOPE that when Monolithsoft remasters the game for Switch/future Nintendo consoles, a more complete sounding version is provided. Xenoblade Chronicles X is very much a transitional kind of game where different versions of a song plays between day and night. Night versions are usually more chill and simple compared to the day versions (until you reach a certain area of the game).
There was this one worst video game music compilation video I remember listening to over a decade ago that had this one song from Imperium (an SNES title) that was so bad, I was like laughing in disbelief; it's the 2nd boss theme. I can't find the video anymore, but hopefully there will be a playlist somewhere with that song in it, and I'd love to see your reaction!
"Crazy Chocobo" is arguably the most "un-Chocobo" sounding song I've heard in the Final Fantasy series. I wager it was just this way to complement the overall aesthetic of the game or something, but Chocobo themes are usually playful, funny and/or easy on the ears.
"i've never heard dubstep in a video game"
*sonic forces has entered the chat*
I had a feeling that the Spiderman funhouse music would be there. Definitely a questionable soundtrack.
We should be telling her about actually bad music in the comments and make that list look like mozart
In my opinion, Sagat's theme from Street Fighter 1 is pure SOVL. I love how discordant it sounds.
Im very glad i haven't found a crash twinsanity or crash tag team racing in any of these videos yet because all it takes is for it to randomly pop up in the wrong person's video and all the gatekeeping we've done would be for nothing 😔
At the time it was released people (especially journalists) hated the soundtrack for Marvel vs Capcom 2 but now it's one of the most beloved in all fighters
Sonic Chronicles being here is completely valid. There are like 2 songs in the whole game I actually think are good but they’re comprised heavy due to having to be put on a DS and the composers/developers probably didn’t even realize before making the music.
That's not a commercial release Sonic game. SegaSonic Bros is though.
some of these really seem to be included because of them being weird/silly, but like you said, a lot of them make sense in the context of the game. a few of these were truly something else though lol
Whoever put Simple and Clean has either no taste or no sensitivity for sound anymore
I feel like this selection was just more "meme-y" or out of context songs, there are waaay worse OSTs out there
honestly buck bumble theme gets stuck in my head more than you might think
The cat in the background is such a good detail
Awesome video! I would watch a part two of this.
11:44 GEET OUUT meme ( the feeling is the same )
This is so true for the Muv Luv one.
Quick - we need a diversion dance
7:18 You should react to the soundtrack of Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis version), so you can hear the original and good version of this song, Diamond Dust Zone.
I certainly recommend it because 3D Blast is one of the best Genesis soundtracks.
Who put that tune from XC2 in the worst video game music? I loved that track in the fun parts of the game, what gives? People are too depressing man, they want every game to be super serious... Don't get it....
Same, I love that tune and it is used well in game.
Just haters who wanted Xeno 2 on some sort of worst list, because "boobs bad yo" or some other stupid reason.
Burning Men’s Soul was clearly written by someone who was not exactly a native English speaker. Even at the time of Persona 3 there was writing problems with lyrics. Believe it or not it turns out Lotus Juice rewrote the script for Mass Destruction in under 15 minutes. That video proof is on UA-cam.
I actually found out afterwards that the rap came from a sample pack album called Climax 9 RAPsody and I think a handful of games sampled different tracks from the album. Super random and bizarre!
I 100% agree with you in all that you said about this music
The entire SF6 soundtrack should be here haha
Yeah, the Japanese Psycho Soldier theme is easily better. But I highly reccomend giving the King of Fighters ‘94 version of the theme a listen! The arranged version specifically.
New fan of your channel. I'm teach middle/high school orchestra, play professionally and compose. Coolest gigs I've had was Video Games Live and Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess. Anyways, would you possibly react to anime soundtracks? I'm sure you know about Cowboy Bebop.
I'm really glad you liked Shadow World De De Mouse haha-- I discovered it having never heard the original version of the song and after listening to it a few times mostly out of a sort of contrarian spite, it's become something I LOVE putting on to just "audio crowdsurf" a bit, the piano and the lilting tempos and sort of harsh treble-y mix and everything are so weirdly relaxing once you have the twists and turns the song takes all memorized
Ooh, there's a really good rendition of blue badger, gyakuten kenji orchestra mini album - blue badger march. That's actually great.
When I saw Persona 4 on the thumbnail I thought _who dared_ but a Dancing remix? Yeah I can live with that, most of those are inferior to their original version imo. Of course there are exceptions, bust most of the time they feel a bit… off
Wild Hearts has an interesting problem i say: the music is too epic. Or, rather, it's basically all epic, for fighting things. The final boss theme doesn't quite hit as hard when you also hear equally or perhaps more impressive inspirational sweeping violins for the water squirrel fight in the coast biome. It's important to have music that suits those lower-grandeur fights.
I started buying games in 1980. There were a lot of games with no music at all.
That's the worst game music.
Imagine being eaten by a grue to silence. Those were the days.
Music is art.
Art is supposed to feel something.
It doesn’t need to be "good" or "in your liking" necessarily to be able to feel something.
The worst thing any piece of media can be is soulless or without any message.
I am a firm believer that sometimes, you’re supposed to feel other emotions that just "simple joy".
Btw: Buck Bumble in that list ayo?!
Art is supposed to be good and beautiful or have appeal
Bad art having merit is a subeversive idea and usually used for money laundering
The Rabbids: Party of Legends song is actually called Chiwawa by Wanko ni Mero Mero, this song is more known to be in the just dance games and actually has lyrics (even though its kinda whatever the lyrics)
If anything that second persona theme just has the backing instruments a bit too loud in the mix, the bass was a bit intense in my ears, but another mix of it to just quiet them down a bit would be fine by me.
OK, 1942 for NES was terrible. I am so happy I played that game on our Commodore 64. Much better! :)
The only reason I could think "A Nopon's Life" is on this list, is probably from the people who never opened the volume settings for the game (which many content creators don't), and played through with the music being loud as all hell (this track is especially loud if you kept it on default settings).
That was my favorite Kingdom Hearts games. I played that before. You're very gorgeous my friend! You're my favorite sweetie!
I see you like Utada. Have you heard her first album as Cubic U called Precious when she was like 12-13? That one is underrated.
I would suggest YUI if you've never heard about her. Great Jpop artist leaning somewhar more into the Rock side of things.
10:22 Major Spongebob lost episode walk cycle vibes.
Let’s go both Xenoblade songs beat the allegations. That’s my series 💪🏽 If those are the worst songs in those games you know the soundtrack is good
Please listen to one or two songs from the Drakengard 1 OST, they're not bad..... just a very aquired taste. Seeing your reaction to them would be brilliant.
PLEASE go listen to the Smash version of the Psycho Soldier theme! I like the original too, but what they were able to do to the song with modern instrumentation and a good mic is awesome!
