    Travis, I’ve been doing judo for over 20 years and even as a black belt your videos have helped me tremendously. This in particular is something I struggle with most when competing. Thank you for all the advice and tips massively grateful for your expertise

    Thank you Travis, I’ve been doing Judo for just over a year and a half, the most frustrating thing is consistently not ‘being able to close the distance’. Going to definitely try this and some of your other stuff once clubs are finally open again (UK)

    Nice, kind of like a “reverse” wrist in turn manipulation, but not attacking the wrist per se but the whole arm,

    Travis Stevens the fucking GOAT. Been training for like four years and hadn't found a good answer to the stiff-arm until I came across this.

    A cocky Judoka in Simi Valley dojo stiffed armed me, and asked me to solve that situation. I am a Black Belt in Japanese Jiu Jitsu. I thought of an Atemi Waza to his throat and followed by a nasty lock, but that would make me a really bad guy. So, I didn't do that. I played dumb.

    That mostly a strength move. Most judo grip breaks are. It’s just about overpowering the fingers

    I got stiff armed by two guys tonight... I am still crying inside. I couldn't do anything ( my brain just shut down ).
    Afterwards, I thought of the solution of circling around ( like for a sasae ), which is "Tai sabaki" maybe ? In training after the randoris it worked like a charm, but I wonder if I can pull it off next time.
    I will try to use Travis's awesome advises too in combination. Something HAS to work.
    I mean, stiff arms... I just refuse to use force against force. What is even the point ? But I kind of hate myself for not being able to beat stiff opponents.

    So when it is the double collar you just do one then the other?

  • @matthewoneill5354
    @matthewoneill5354 3 роки тому

    If you're pushing with that right shoulder could you be vulnerable to a sasai or hiza on that side if he uses your pushing motion in his favour? If he decides, as you push, to pull you onto his left foot using the collar grip? Genuine question not nit picking or trying to be smart....

    При победе одного насилия над другим остаётся победившее насилие и точно так же, как и прежнее, вызывает против себя новое насилие, и так без конца.

    I trained with a skinny guy much taller than me that always stiff arms, his gi is too big because he is skinny so even if I can grab him, it slides over his head and comes off.

    How much sleep should I get per night and still be able to recover from practice, is 5 to 6 hours enough?

    • @TravisStevensgrappling
      @TravisStevensgrappling  3 роки тому +1

      Everyone is different it's really hard to say. I would just keep a journal and track how you feel during training sessions and how much sleep you get and then look at the results.
