The ONLY reason Nepo kids become successful is because people (aka us) go and watch their movies. People here blast nepo kids but would still go and watch their movies time and time again.

There can be directors like Nolan because he himself started of as indie filmmaker. He has the vision for any type of genre and plus he focuses on what stories he would like to tell. Nolan or Cameron don't do stuff keeping audience or business of box office in mind. There are directors with that same passion in India too but their films don't have to be like Nolan's because everyone has their own ideas.
Alia Bhatt isn't versatile. She can't adapt accents properly due to which her gestures become mediocre. Fatima, Radhika Madan, Tripti and Sanya are versatile. Only BALATRONS will find Alia versatile. I've watched Udta Punjab due to Shahid and Bebo and Gangubai trailer due to SLB there only I've realised how overrated and extremely lucky Alia is.
The real big problem is lack of good scripts . Otherwise superstars like SRK, Prabhas , Salman Khan etc would definitely go with better scripts as they know their names would lure people to the theaters and good script definitely brings a lot of people to the theater .
The problem with movies like Laapata Ladies and 12th fail is that they are not promoted more.. Arey bhai agar aapke content main dum hai, toh jyaada promote karona...I'm an avid viewer of Bollywood movies but I got to know about these 2 movies only after they got released on OTT and praises started to flow like crazy...I even searched the actor's interviews during the time of release, but there were very few interviews of that time...Even the actors of Laapata Ladies got more limelight only after it released on Netflix and Netflix even carried out interviews and other promotional videos of the cast to promote the movie even further....In the same way, Producers should highly market and promote these type of movies if they were critically acclaimed and has the potential...
I think it's audience who can make difference audience should go and watch quality content like lapata ladies 12thfail rather than mass commercial movies like yodha bhool bhulaiyaa with no story then only we can make small budget movies a massive hit and appreciate real true talent

Sau baat ki ek baat....mai 350 rupees theatre mein entertainment k hi dunga. For movies like lapata ladies and rom coms I am paying to Netflix and Amazon prime where I can watch at my convenience with friends and family members. No hate to the art type films but can't afford every film.

Why is Indian audience always glaze Nolan like there are lots of better directors than him.
Viewers are to be blamed as well. They will go to halls for average/below average films. They make those movies superhit. But they wont show support for content driven films.
If big budget masala movies continue to fail miserably, then production houses will be forced to promote content driven movies.

Sorry to say, but movies don't give us that feeling they used to anymore. I have lost interest in movies, bollywood, or Hollywood - it's mostly bad these days. Somehow, I feel that magic is gone from the movies. Yes, nepotism is a big part of it. They don't serve the story. They don't contribute anything good to the craft. Most of them feel entitled to work and stardom because their parents made a place in the industry. It's treated like a throne that they are supposed to take over after their parents. The magic is gone.
