It looks great. I remember Brad Renfro from "Tom & Huck", it's a shame that he died so young. He will always be remembered for his talent as an actor!
The best part of this movie is when Ian McKellen's character pounds his staff on the floor and shouts "You shall not pass!"
um... dude, I'm pretty sure that was a different movie.. did you fell asleep while watching apt pupil?
scyllaandcharybdis That's the point
LMFAO!
"Down in the basement, what's goin' on/ its a Apt Pupil, there's a kid and a Nazi down there!" - Ray Parker Jr.
Yeah jordan peele 🤣
Gotta thank Key & Peele for introducing me to this.
That’s how obscure this movie is that all of were introduced to it from a comedy skit
@@blazayblazay8888 yep
I loved the book. I fell in love with Todd and his slow mutation into that unspeakable monster was horrifying. It really got it's point across.
great Stephen King book for sure.
"he wanted to know everything.even the gooshy parts"
a highly disturbing story from Stephen King. great performances from both Ian McKellen and the late Brad Renfro! this is Brad Renfro's best work ever for me. to bad he died young
I do believe in the existence of evil. This movie was made by Bryan Singer . That's enough proof
Lol
@@kingmoctezuma21 wel Bryan singer is the same guy who made x men 1 and 2 I dijdntbrely knowcabut bryans acthion until looked up onto the I internet and was like wait tiny who made x men rsted boys gives this moves tagline the existence of evil a totally unitintinosl meaning
RIP Brad...miss you already
Sir Ian McKellen is an awesome actor! Renfro was a rising star, too.
I read this Stephen king short story a couple years ago. It was wild. Never knew it was turned into a movie. The only reason I hestate to watch it is because Brian Singer directed it.
Whud you do durin' the wuar?
wow this movie is a masterpiece, criminally underrated
Finished this book. LOVED IT
This movie is worth watching. i just watched it tonight and i can't seem to get it outta my head. u have to watch it
Miss Brad :'((((
Reading this again after I don't know how long. Forgot how good it was. Haven't seen the film in even longer. I remember that while it was an ok adaption, they watered down a lot of stuff.
the book was honestly more disturbing than his other stories
I agree-this was his best work, after that teh shawshank redemption, than the green mile,I never finished the stand,I am getting back to it.
Great performances from everyone involved in a gripping film.
Looks like a creepy yet interesting movie, so I'm gonna watch it.
Brad Renfro was soooo Hot when he was a Teen!!! Cant believe he is dead..im soo sad, he was a very talented Actor...
I've never read the book but I know the story and it sound great. Movie looks good as well, I didn't know Ian Mckellen played in this one, now I'm definitely going to see the movie, he's one of my favorite actors
brad renfro - RIP :-(
RIP, Brad. This was one of your best roles. 'What I'm doing is nothing compared to what the Israelis will do to you once they get a hold of you. Now MARCH!'
Esse. Filme é. Muito Bom! !
apt pupil is the best book Ive ever read from Stephen King
Reading different seasons. Just starting this!!
The movie takes place over one summer while the book takes place over four years.
Gah the book was great. It was so strong. Especially that marching scene when Dussander gets so absorbed
Love this film. It's so meaningfull- I think family guy did a skit on it recently and called the episode "German guy"
I remember when they showed this trailer in theaters, in front of halloween h20, I think it was, or maybe Urban Legend. Some guy said "they're trying to make it look scary" at 1:56. I was amused.
I saw this trailer in front of Godzilla.
I loved the story, just ordered movie off ebay, hope it dosn't disapoint :)
1:15 omg! Return of the living dead 1985 was zombie awesome!!
This was a great short story. Love the trailer but never saw the movie. I'm going to remedy that.
Brad,you're the best .
Was the movie good? Because, I just finished the novella from Different Seasons and it was disturbing yet, excellent. I heard there were 50% critics that liked this movie and the percent loathes it.
each story is so much better at describing emotions
I was thinking absolutely the same thing!!
Yes, thank you. I'm not crazy for wondering that. Again thank you.
Great performances by Mckellan and Renfro in an intelligently made thriller by Bryan Singer.
the film is amazing
i like the end of the book ....the man creates someone like him....it shows how can people became bad without even knowing
I didn't think the book/story was going to be much when I read it (I got Different Seasons so I could read The Body), but wow. Absolutely WOW. I haven't seen this yet, but hopefully soon... although I would have preferred if Todd was a kid at the beginning.
A waaay underated movie. This is a movie with some very deep themes involving evil and dualism and homeroticism.
I read the Novella last year and it was really good. Kinda graphic. But I want to see the movie! The trailer for it seems good.
Just get Different Seasons by Stephen King. It's the third story in there. The first two are Shawshank Redemption and the Body (Stand by Me). The last was never made into a movie but is called the Breathing Method.
what rating is this. can anyone tell me please. thanks
Creepy concept, considering it uses real history and real people. These stories, Misery, the ones with normal people being evil always scared me more than It
Wow.
Just finished the novella....I'm speechless
can anyone tell me what rating this is please. thanks.
I just have one question.... How did it FEEL.. boy? How did it FEEL.
Am I the only one who see the irony in this, that in this movie Ian Mckellen plays a nazi war criminal. And years later in the X-men movies he plays Magneto who's not only a holocaust survivor but also lost his parents in Auschwitz. And Apt Pupil is also directed by Bryan Singer who also directed the first two X-men movies. This can't be a coincidence, can it?
just finished reading this chapter..
Ths thing that struck me in this movie is how the kid got the SS uniform for the old man - even if it was a movie costumers version it would of been bloody expensive!
In the book it’s said he just got a knock off version for $80
Jeez this trailer's narration is cheesey, really undermines the whole film.
Actually it's the second. Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption (Hope Springs Eternal), Apt Pupil (Summer Of Corruption), The Body (Fall From Innocence), The Breathing Method (A Winter's Tale)
Interesting, but to be fair; I never heard of "The Keep" until now. I don't get why I haven't heard of it?
Just finished to reading its novel. Movies seems like okay.
This man played a Nazi and a Holocaust survivor, that's tough.
has anyone seen this movie or read the book? Is it any good. Cuz if it is i would love to read it
This movie is more relevant now.
DodgerFan1988 no it’s not.
good movie...
@FabianMemo i've read the book more than once; i expected the movie to end the same way
@ConConShareef No need to swear, just a little correction -.-
We just finished this in my English class today very creepy and uneasy movie!
@ConConShareef You mean short story?
I'm reading the book right now
i love the movie!!! and i wann read the book
I saw the movie years ago it seemed to be pretty good to me but it all depends on your point of veiw.
Ahhh
Is this "Movie Trailer Man", or Pablo Francisco?
the movie still kicks ass, regardless
any going to upload this id like to see it.
im never gonna talk 2 ian mackellen lol
@scrambleeggjunky35 In the book it starts with todd being 13
@JakeCadaverous I just finished it today. A great story by Stephen King, no doubt about that.
movie was fairly right with the book except for few things
Dussander - Killed cats, dogs, then homeless, Suicide by pills before being offcialy discovered
Todd - after being bugged for change by a homeless, Todd killed the person, didn't stop with just one (don't think he was ever officialy discovered). At end shot French several times with a gun his dad gave him, then went off, shot several people before being taken down
Other than those it was pretty good
To be honest, evil will never allow you to look back and understand what the "real" evil is, was, or ever could, should or wanted to be. Evil wants nothing but your unwavering support...
One thing i did not get - why did he kill the homeless guy?
I've just finished the book and not watched the film yet. But in the book it's because when he kills people /animals it stops the bad dreams for a while
The novella (I haven't seen the film) was fascinating and chilling. It explores a concept that may be true; that just learning about evil taints a person. Perhaps it's all the more reason to shield our children for as long as possible from discovering what horrors are perpetrated every day in some places in our world. There are some things that even now I wish I just didn't know about.
The way the movie poster is(both faces half covered like a shadow of one another) i expected the movie to end with the "apt pupil" being elected as president with his inner desire to rebuild the Reich.
this was a Stephen King book, the movie is pretty intense to.
@thereddeath1100 Me too like 5 minutes ago!
Interesting, didn't know that.
Pablo Francisco doing the invoice.
What is it with King and cats? There's one in this movie, one in Pet Sematary, and a shit load in Sleepwalkers.
2:19 right there when you see his eyes turn white you're looking at the devil! To say that Nazis were evil is like saying grass is green. I rented this movie a couple of times and I was left kind of disappointed because this had a whole lot of potential.
To suggest a release from Criterion: suggestions@criterion.com
Rob Schneider is.. a stapler.
good movie. talk about karma at the very end when he's in the hospital bed when one of his victims is right there
Key and Peele brought me here.
funny how magneto played the very thing he hates years before he was "magneto"
Don't give him the RING!!!
good film ;-)
the book was good but disturbing i have yet to see the film have heard it is not too good though as my brother saw it on tv a year or two ago
@japanesesweet I didnt see any link to homosexuality in this book, but that would have been an interesting slant
king is a king.
I agree. The book so much more violent compared to the movie... I think they wanted to make a more 'teaching-valuable' end. The book's story is a little psychopathic.
@MrSeanMeldrum Great ending imo.
Okay?
