    Wow! Yours is the first video I've seen that covers Vision Pro accessibility well. Thanks for showing the setting to ignore eye movement. As a card-carrying member of the Nystagmus club, I always enable the similar settings on iPhone and iPad. I think it's called something about attention on the other devices.

    Great video, I wanna play with one now. I also learn thanks to this video I can increase the max level for the zoom, I had no idea I could do that.

    Can you make a video showing us how this device can help someone who is visually impaired or blind as a mobility aid and what it could do to be an assistive technology in the real world? It would be nice to know if you could use this to cross streets or find things in a store or on public transit to read the markers or on buses and trains or find the bus stop sign and know if your pathway is clear or not etc? If there was a version that could let you know if there is a green light or if there are steps or a big crack in the sidewalk that would help me because I am legally blind and I use a power chair.

      This is not currently possible: the Apple Vision Pro blocks all pixel-level camera access by third-party apps, so no talking OCR, object recognition or sensory substitution for blind users.

    Wow! VoiceOver seems incredibly clunky on Vision Pro. I'm sure after a while of use it would become more intuitive, but it'd be great if they would integrate gestures like trackpad commander for macOS. Thank you for sharing this Sam!

    Hi, can the magnifier been used to zoom not only windows, but surroundings too? Just like Inspire from Iris Vision. Thank you!

  • @sizzlevat8289
    @sizzlevat8289 10 місяців тому +3

    Please demo zooming when you have several apps open and the keyboard showing. Do they all zoom together like it would on a monitor? If not, does the zoomed window overlap the others or push them away?

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  10 місяців тому

      No, de zoom effect only affects the window you're either looking at or currently interacting with. Also, the zoom only extends within the edges, or boundaries, of the window. So, if you had windows stacked on top of each other overlapping, the zoom wouldn't cover a lower window up anymore than the upper window already does. Hopefully that makes sense

    I have to agree, this product is for somebody who has useful vision. What I’m curious about is I have two prosthetic eyes, so how would that affect the functionality with the eye tracking and such? Also, my other question is, would it be feasible or usable to use this with one hand, as in my situation, I only have one usable hand? 15:24

    One thing I’ve been genuinely curious about regarding voiceover on the Vision Pro is that I saw in the simulator it does include braille screen input. I’m very curious as to how that works on the Vision Pro, and if perhaps it might be easier easier to type in braille then it would be to type on this quirky little keyboard that floats out in the ether?

    Thanks for doing this video on accessibility features of the vision pro. Most VR headsets have limited accessibility options so Apple deserves a little credit for not ignoring the disabled. Its to bad the device can not be used as a regular accessible device cause the price point would otherwise be reasonable as compared to other devices. Also, i do not think Bigscreen Beyond comes with any accessible features but it may work wth the accessibility features with your computer

    I think blind people don't see the power of this device yet. for me this is going to be a game changer in just a few years from now and it will going to kill all those other very expensive goggles that are from orcam or the like.
    besides all of that i think this is going to be a true game changer for deaf people who use sign language since this can really learn sign language and interpret it back to them and to the hearing people

    • @seeingwithsound
      @seeingwithsound 9 місяців тому

      Yes, technically the potential is great. A lot will depend on Apple lifting their policy of blocking camera view access for third-party apps. No computer vision apps can be used at present.

    1 question, what on earth is go back gesture? Like on IPhone you would do that crazy 2 finger z, what to do on Vision Pro?
    I wouldn't mind having this gesture thing for my Iphone, where it just sits somewhere and I controle it with my gestures.
    And that magnification feature seems amazing. I am guessing you can also do that for real world? Like not the app window or the vertual environment, but zoom in on things which the vision pro cameras are actually seeing outside? Like a very nice CC TV VR/AR hybrid?

    My wife who has retinal degeneration tried it today. Was a major disappointment - the pass-through AR was simply not bright enough to be of much help when using it as a visual aid in anything other than an extremely bright environment - even in the store itself which was fairly well lit the pass-through was much dimmer and in dim light it would likely be useless her. The demo person didn't seem to be aware of any adjustment that would compensate for this. We'd be very grateful If anyone could inform us of any known tweaks for this.

    Although this was somewhat informative , you kind of put the cart before the horse. I guess I would like to know first and foremost possible uses for the Apple vision, pro for the blind in ways, that it will enhance what we already do. In other words, what’s the reason to even buy one in the first place in the low vision community. can I use it as wearable magnification goggles to see my environment? Can I use it as a video Magnifier for reading? Or is it simply just an aid to watch TV so far I have not seen a reason why a low vision person would consider purchasing Apple Vision Pro

      @@theblindlife yes but, you should ALWAYS start at the beginning and NOT assume your viewers are tech savvy. You are not keeping in mind ALL viewer levels. You and I had this discussion concerning your video on gimbals. Making sure everyone is on the same page at the start is most important. I , personally, am seeing this as a trend on your channel and I am getting so frustrated that I am considering unsubscribing. Yes I know to be sure not to let the door hit my butt on the way out, but I need to find content providers that actually care that EVERYONE understands what is going on from word one. That seems to happen less and less on this channel. You have gotten too in love with technospeak to be of use to me.

    My opinion on this product as a visually impaired person. Apple Vision Pro is a predominantly product for people with average or normal vision as its name says. Although it can be somewhat customize up to certain way to be used by visually impaired people is more than clear that , at least for the time being, we are not part of the target community for this product. That combined with the fact that is extremely expensive and with limited amount of applications, even for the sighted people, it makes very difficult to recommend the Vision Pro, at least right now.

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  9 місяців тому +2

      Some aspects of android are better than Apple, and vice versa. Android is much better at customizing the user interface for low vision. Changing the size of on screen elements, better options for large widgets, even a better magnifier. Apple is an easier operating system to use for people who are new to smart phones. Apple also does the screen reader better.

I only see in one eye and the left eye has legally blind vision. I wasnt really able to see everything clearly on the screen and had to look all over to find text that was too small for me. I also felt like I was looking thru a tunnel. Perhaps the inserts make the FOV worse I already have limited field of view. This device made me feel worse. Maybe the next model will work for me.
