For me musically this was one of the better ones that stayed within the vibe of the original. The opening bars with that clean tone is what I’d like to hear in a cover. Vocally even with good singers I haven’t found anyone that can give it a vibe close to what Prince did. I’m not sure we’ll ever see that kind of voice given with attitude in mainstream music. I wondered why this song was so hard to cover until I saw his popular live version of it in Milan. It’s something special. I don’t know enough about music to put it into words.
The bar is very high. To cover Prince is not easy at all especially Purple Rain. This cover musically is very good but vocally is more of a challenge. To do a good cover you have to be musically accurate but vocally just do your own thing and respect the song.

I agree Nelson, Prince's voice is everything as we all know, the guitar work is the cherry on top. Nobody gets close.
