Having heard this song plenty of times but never seeing the music video, I have to say I am thoroughly impressed for a lot of reasons, but I want to focus on what hit me the hardest: It's a perfect nostalgic time capsule of what neighborhoods inside the USA actually looked like in the 2000s; All the different CRT TVs and digital devices the stills cut to; the home video footage of everyday activities; the vibrant COLORS; but also around the 1:22 mark it also has a montage of what the average home would have playing on TV at the time; satirizing Pro Wrestling, workout videos, reruns of Bob Ross, black-and-white Movies, reruns of tv shows from the 50s through the 80s, Infomercials, Cooking shows; etc and so forth. As someone who did suffer abuse from a woman this song was a sort of comfort knowing that I was not alone. It made me feel like I could get better since I was not alone. Truly a masterpiece

Tally hall songs are definitely the best but can we talk about their music videos? It's one of the most interesting concepts and aesthetic that gives alot more to their songs
Tally Hall. It burns me to know that these guys are so underrated, wish they were up there. But to be fair, maybe them being on this level of popularity makes them so special?
@@stinkystinkypoopystinkypeepee erm,, explain this then!!1! 2:30 🤨☝☝ /j nah but in all seriousness, sucks that they've technically broken up, guess we'll just wait and see
This is their greatest song and an absolute masterpiece of whatever you call this genre. It is so difficult to make a piece like this where each is so unique and yet every part is catchy. It is sophistication and catchiness all in one. It is a unicorn of a song. It captures the emotion and the fun alike of youth. It is nostalgic and upbeat at the same time. This whole album was absolute perfection. 10/10. May be my favorite album of all time and this is the greatest song on the album. May posterity put laurel upon laurel on this band's reputation.
Yeah this band is great. I'm kinda sad I found out about them so late and that so few people know about them Some of the songs are just really funny and weird (like Two Wuv, Mucka Blucka, and Banana Man) and some are interestingly artistic and beautiful (like Spring and a Storm and Taken for a Ride) but they're all so great Good band 11/10 always recommend
@@ilovejson thank you for not being mad that i didnt know who it was. i might be addicted to their music but i still dont know who each of them are lol
"Looking through glass eyes, give it a few tries! Nothing goes right in its time." From that, along with the video's aesthetic, I'd say they're implying the timeless nature of the television, and how it gives you such interesting views of life. By peering through the glass of the screen, you're seeing the world in new ways, through different people and eras... it's a cool message.
this is my favorite one by a long shot, gives a feeling of ease as all the shots are beautifully articulated, just an amazing video to accompany with charming vocals and beats to nod your head to
I remember listening to you guys all the time in 5th through 6th grade when I was going through a very tough and very painfully awkward time and never telling anybody about you because I was afraid they’d think I was weird. Now everybody’s talking about Hawaii Part 2 and “introducing” me to the band and I can’t tell them I’ve already known about you for years without sounding like a pretentious asshole or seeming like a gate keeper. Kind of hurts, but I’m glad you’re at least beginning to get the recognition you deserve, even if it means you’ll never again be that secret little gem me and lots of other people found years ago.
I feel that so much I accidentally shared a song by tallyhall on some bluetooth speakers and now my siblings know all of the flipping songs I would be really proud of tally hall if they went big, but i want them to stay my little gem as much as possible, as long as possible. when artists go big, and ive watched it happen, it just feels basic and not well fun to listen to Fvcking love tallyhall, and i hope they get back together The hiatus is too long, brother
me too. But I heard a rumor saying that the band is currently on a long hiatus or they broke up. Who knows? I will wait to see if the band gets back together from the hiatus or they did actually broke up but they didn't told anyone because, their last video was 4 years ago. Tally Hall is one of my least favorite bands out there.
Sometimes I feel weird liking this band so much. They have that flavor of teen pop mixed with some first-time love tunes, but then they have that TMBG randowesomemeness that puts them in a category of few peers and makes me remember the more wholesome days of my youth, inspiring me to relive those days of yesteryear vitality vicariously in my encroaching "aged" years. About to turn 30 and this band makes me feel like a fumbling pubescent geek again. Genius!
Oh tally hall...we won't let time forget about you...we're all still here. Waiting for you to return...take your time...we'll wait till you're ready to come back
They were pretty up and coming, this song actually got a lot of exposure around the time of release, however after their (still ongoing) hiatus they vanished into obscurity before they could make it big. Though they are getting a resurgence and they may be releasing a third album in the near future! Fingers crossed!!
+Small Blue Flowers Sorta, they're on hiatus which means on hold or something like that, But I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen for around 6-8 years...

Good day that is my name

But first I need to introduce my what and introduce my when
Let us sing! (Ahh, ahh ahh)
Its name I like to call it likes to say it's nothing (it's nothing)
It lives and breathes and it insists that it insists that it is something (it's something)
It never liked to speak or run or walk or sleep or eat (oh-ee oh-ee oh)
It even thought that everybody tried to thought to take its seat
Looking through glass eyes
Give it a few tries
Nothing goes right in its time
Kill all its bad dreams
Wonder 'bout no things
Circles and spirals in mind
But we know that this song is not about a no or yes or why
What's really truly what I say is that about a little sigh
So come along I think I'm done I think we're done yes this is done
What's truly that I think about it and it thinks about a ton
Let us sing! (Ahh, ahh ahh)
Looking through glass eyes
Giving a few tries
Nothing goes right in its time

This is their greatest song and an absolute masterpiece of whatever you call this genre. It is so difficult to make a piece like this where each is so unique and yet every part is catchy. It is sophistication and catchiness all in one. It is a unicorn of a song. It captures the emotion and the fun alike of youth. It is nostalgic and upbeat at the same time. This whole album was absolute perfection. 10/10. May be my favorite album of all time and this is the greatest song on the album. May posterity put laurel upon laurel on this band's reputation.

From that, along with the video's aesthetic, I'd say they're implying the timeless nature of the television, and how it gives you such interesting views of life. By peering through the glass of the screen, you're seeing the world in new ways, through different people and eras... it's a cool message.

Yo that's sick.
How was the performance received
this is my favorite one by a long shot, gives a feeling of ease as all the shots are beautifully articulated, just an amazing video to accompany with charming vocals and beats to nod your head to
I remember listening to you guys all the time in 5th through 6th grade when I was going through a very tough and very painfully awkward time and never telling anybody about you because I was afraid they’d think I was weird.
Same here :P

Sometimes I feel weird liking this band so much. They have that flavor of teen pop mixed with some first-time love tunes, but then they have that TMBG randowesomemeness that puts them in a category of few peers and makes me remember the more wholesome days of my youth, inspiring me to relive those days of yesteryear vitality vicariously in my encroaching

They were pretty up and coming, this song actually got a lot of exposure around the time of release, however after their (still ongoing) hiatus they vanished into obscurity before they could make it big.
