IMO a good change to barricades is to make them so that they don’t start recharging until it breaks. I think this would cut down a lot on the spam and back to back placement.
That's what happens with Icefall Mantle. It feels kinda clunky, not saying it wouldn't work as a direct nerf. But it's essentially another cool down nerf.
If titans barricades gets nerfed to the ground, they should get some type of movement that doesn’t cost class ability, something similar to icarus dash or blink.
I think a couple of cool things they could do is just take away damage and add an effect, like blind, scorch, volatile, slow etc for their respective subclass, or add like a weakspot similar to what the cabal phalanx have, so you can disbale it temporarily, this would stop the camping.
What I would like to see is old faster barricade cooldown. BUT, they take more damage, so you can easily break them without multiple mags. And then they will deal 0 damage. So there will potentially be a lot of them, but they are also easily removable, and not dangerous
They need to do absolutely zero damage going through. let's also not forget that they SLOW you as you pass through them. WTH is a defensive wall able to be offensive?!?!
@@Awake_wlI think that’s honestly the best solution. The transparency, cool down, and health are all in a good spot. If they didn’t do damage to players they couldn’t be used to buff bubble protection, or penalize players for barely touching them. If they only slowed players they’re still acting as an effective barrier and allowing peaking without danger which is fine for the ability.
I believe nothing should be nerfed into the ground because that would be a waste of either an item or a subclass. Even if it's annoying, it's in the game and should have some viability but not absurd.
As a Titan main, I agree with the barricade needing a slight nerf, but I would like to see us getting more exotics like Ophidians that enhances our movement/handling.
Moving synthos to basically give threat detector instead of requiring 3+ people within 15m to activate the handling bonus I think would be sick, maybe give lion rampants a sprint+slide boost or make it so you can ads as well tbh. Still wouldn't be as solid as ttd in the air but would work
Not many people will agree with me here but I think they should change what the barricade is as a whole. They should make it a “damage resistance wall” where you and your enemies can shoot through the barricade but the titan will take something like 75% damage resistance from any weapons or hitscan abilities coming through the barricade. I also think any projectile abilities or weapons should be blocked by the barricade. So rockets, glaives, some supers and what not will not go through it. This would solve the issue where you can just place a barricade and get a res in trials. As long as you do a little damage, they can’t get the res. Obviously this is a long shot for Bungie standards as they would probably see it as “too much work”. They would also need to rework the shoot through barricade exotic arms. Maybe they can make the barricade/wall bigger while giving a damage buff when you shoot through it (PvE maybe a 15% buff and a 7% buff in PvP).
Yeah I think a major change like this would be best but I just don’t see them doing it, I feel like they just like to change numbers when it comes to balancing which makes sense I guess but is a bit disappointing sometimes
I know most people don’t want to change their load outs but auto rifles with anti barrier and get rid of barricades pretty quick. Especially if your whole team is using ammit that shits gone quick
As a hunter main, I'm really tired of seeing titans everywhere. Arc/void being the worst offenders (solar and stasis being near non-existent and strand just kind of existing as an occasional annoyance), Antaeus Wards near-constantly, sometimes Peacekeepers, almost always clipping through barricades with snipers, the running barricade-shield that can eat goldie shots/snipers/anything until it breaks, the varying overshields they have access to. They've just been a source of frustration for many seasons for me at this point and I agree: I don't think just tagging on more time to the cooldown fixes much... But I really don't know what they can do to bring them in-line.
I totally agree that titan stacking is a balance issue. I can't help but feel like it wouldn't of been such a prevalent issue if it wasn't for the secret barricade buff also known as the airborne effectiveness system being in the game in it's current state. To get decent airborne gunplay on primaries, which in my opinion is consistently being able to hit headshots(which is about 60 AE I find), you have to either run certain subclasses, sacrifice consistency on the ground, kill chaining potential, or exotics(usually 2 of these 3 things are required to pass the 60 mark). The example I typically use to show this point is Austringer, as it's the first 140 hand cannon introduced post AE-system(partly because I like hand cannons, and also hand cannons were one of the best airborne guns pre AE), I can sacrifice richochet rounds for extended mag, sacrifice backup mag for icarus grip, and sacrifice something like eye of the storm or snapshot sights for enhanced air assault, and it still only gets to 50; granted 50 is probably good enough if you are extremely top level at aiming, until the second shot because haha accuracy cone go brr. Any decent player can easily beat a body shot ttk on almost any weapon archetype if they're grounded. Even with heat rises, unless you're running strafe glide(which btw when you do you are really slow without heat rises to the point it's only slightly faster than sprinting), icarus dashing to safety is somewhat slow compared to like a slide, and even if you run phoniex dive, you're sacrificing rift for safety while using heat rises. Even with fragment based AE, so little reward for the sacrifice/commitment. I hope next season we get AE mods similar to how targetting mods works, where it's element based and 1 mod is like 15, 2 mods 20, and 3 mods 30, that alone would make the AE system feel a lot more easy to build into, and in my opinion would actually start to feel like a buildcraftable system instead of just sacrifice everything for headshots in air.
Maybe just remove the damage they give. None of the other class abilities do damage either. Cover and info is still so strong. Barricading point will still be a thing, but now you can at least push them if they’re hiding behind it much easier
@@XxSylasxXhowever warlocks need to use a aspect or fragment slot for tthat so maybe just make it so titans need to sacrifice something for the damage from them
@@XxSylasxXthat requires a lot of timing, and it takes a lot of practice to get that timing nailed down. Whereas Titans can just stand behind their barricade and wait.
I like the nuanced take on barrier issues; appreciate how you always try to consider all sides of an issue! One thing I've been thinking about is how strong uncharged melees are in this game compared to most other FPS, say Overwatch for instance. Good OW players will melee any chance they can for free damage, but it's never a free kill. In Destiny, if your opponent messes up, half the time you can just double melee for a free kill. In other games having someone at melee range can actually make it harder to kill them; if their movement is super evasive it can be hard to line up point blank shots. I feel like a lot of players (especially Titans) in Destiny just try to get into melee range and hope they win the lunge lottery. I think this benefits Titans way more than other classes considering the fragments and exotics they have on offer, and this might be one of the reasons barricades are so oppressive to play against. If they made melees do less damage and/or maybe lowered lunge range, I think Titans would be a little less oppressive to play against. That said I'm a Titan main that usually runs Thrusters; I'm not actually that good at barricade usage.
Yeah I think another issue is the melee registration is so bad and titans benefit the most from it by far, I personally think the best way to fix a lot of issues would be to limit one class per team (1 hunter 1 warlock 1 titan) but like they’d never do that and the more casual side of the community would probably lose their minds lol
I think the problem might be expanded to « Anything that helps control territory » and especially in game modes like Trials that pushes you to play Zones now. Warlock’s basic well in fine, but Bubble, Radiance or titan barricade are all too powerful in this meta. When a titan puts a Buble on Zone, round is basically done. It can even 1v3 if the titan is not too dumb. Which other super does that ? The barricade should be used defensively (or offensively in a way that it gives informations) and it would already be enough in fact. Either take away the damage done OR maybe it could reduce the amount of damage people take behind the barricade instead of stopping every bullet, so that a sniper or a close shotgun could put the titan behind the barricade very low. If one is taking free greedy informations staying behind it without even doing anything (Low risk/High reward) then we should be able to sanction them. They removed the emotes in competitive plays so I believe taking free information is important to Bungie, and barricades provides way more than just that.
Yeah the gamemode being zone based and revive based just makes the barricades and supers worse, I also think well/bubble need a longer charge time for sure
I'm getting back into pvp after a few years away. Sweet channel. It's nice to see It's not Hunters at the top of pvp, but triple.stacks of a class have always been the problem. They need to buff the other classes to make them better than titan. Although nothing could be better than a bubble 😀 OG Void Titan FTW
Triple titans barriers are a problem (half health or no damage sounds good to me) but I have more of a problem with bubble (and well) cooldown which is a free round win in trials. Titans are also meta because of resil. As a hunter main I feel like resilience at the high levels affecting ttk is unfair. I'm OK with resilience affecting ease of use but I really am leaning toward everyone having the same amount of health in pvp. Examples of unfair situations is forerunner cannot 3 tap at 10 resilience, fang of ir yut with precision instrument takes another bullet at 10 resil, 120 hand cannons with kill clip can't 2 tap 10 resil, etc. High resil is the meta in pvp along with max recovery which is easy for titans and warlocks because they can ignore mobility. Resil is even more important in checkmate which sucks because I really like playing it except for the resil check.
I'd like to see the barricade work like sage's wall from Valorant where it starts at low HP and slowly builds up to full strength over a few seconds. Also remove the damage component of them please :)
I would suggest making Barricades a solid object that cannot be passed through. Give back the old cooldowns. Still gathers information, no damage to players, still defensive, and no more clunky/weird melee, grenade, or shotgun shenanigans from passing/playing around barricades.
I get it I think you are talking about 3 stacking Titan in Trial. And I think class restriction is a good solution here. I would suggest to have a Trial limitation that you need 3 different class in a team,. that should encourage more thought on team combination and no need to nerf Titan to the ground which make everybody happy.
Alright, let the hate games begin! I'm sure I'll receive death treats over this... 1. Say goodbye to any damage inflicted on the enemy player - it's a flat 0%. Just imagine if Warlocks' rifts treated foes the same way... 2. When it comes to barricades, neither Titans nor enemies should be able to walk right through them. After all, it's a wall; it should act like one. 3. Considering its low cooldown and lengthy duration, it might be time to reduce the barricade's stay time. 4. Trials dominion gives them an advantage. Which as the premier PvP reward mode, they intrinsically have an advantage, perhaps their Sheild is weakened on zones idk

How about make barricades only visually transparent from enemy side and make walking through the barricade like "Middle of barricade->sides of barricade=more damage->less damage"?
I had the same thought about barriers doing more damage the closer you were to the center. If the game had more precise movement I think it'd be less of an issue, but so many of the maps have floor geometry that nudges your movement just enough to accidentally clip a barricade you almost made it past, or a teammate bumps you, etc. It'd be a lot less frustrating if just slightly touching the side only did 25% (or whatever) damage.
IMO barricades should be easier to break and have a longer animation to place. Everyone hates the animations in this game so I think a longer animation sticking the titan out from behind cover longer would maybe help. I also think if they made it to where it HAS to be placed in the open like you cant halfway clipped into a wall would make it so the titan HAS to be from out behind cover. Which would put the other teammates at risk to have to cover them idk how they would implement that but i think itd work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I stopped playing Destiny 2 a while a go but this video came up in my feed. So I got two possible ideas: 1. Give grenades an extra damage modifier to shields. This would mean 1 grenade + tiny amount of firepower would break a shield. This way shields retain their cooldown and strength against guns but have a means to tear them down in an appropriate time and effort 2. Have teammates receive friendly damage if they walk through teammates barricades. This way, they have to think carefully about barricade placement and can't just freely place them wherever they want and choke out the other team. Give them that balance change you mentioned where they do 50% health damage instead of 99% as well
Not really just give them other option to use and barricades use will go down Just introduce twilight garrison that consumes half or a third of the barricade
It’s really just the oversheilds from barricades the movement of shoulder charge and dumb exotics that are too strong in PvP and bubble is just annoying af now in trials with capture zone
Titans always get Timid nerfs! It’s like Bungie it’s afraid of actually nerfing Titans! Titans have been soap for the last 2 years and Bungie takes forever to “Nerf” them, and when they do it’s the most minor nerf of all 3 classes! While the other 2 get ( not really needed) actual nerds!
Yeah I knew after each of the recent nerfs it wouldn’t really do much, I think Antaeus nerf will obviously help but I could see 3x pk titans just replacing it lol
Honestly I think if rifts and barricades just didn’t last as long once there deployed. Cuz the cooldown and the reduced health for barricades def help but lets face it barricades and rifts last like 20-30 seconds after deployed so if u play it right u can have half or more of ur cooldown just by playing in a rift or barricade. That would still keep then strong just now theres more time and room for counter play and it wont be the end if a barricade is popped on zone at least they wouldnt have it till the zone is capped. Food for thought. 😂😂🎉🎉
i feel like one way of changing barricades should be to reduce the damage taken, but also to maybe add a similar damage to passing through an opponent's rift if the damage taken has to remain in the game. part of the point of barricades is that they're transparent, i dont think that should be changed, but maybe changing the actual size of the barricade could be interesting. it would probably be too difficult to make the cooldown of one's barricade tied to the number of fireteam members that are also titans, and might screw over someone who solo queues and ends up with one or two other titans. perhaps also increasing the amount that a damage barricade obscures your vision?
Since they nerfed healing rifts into the ground, they’re almost useless to run. If they are trying to balance the other classes then I would suggest the damage taken from walking into barricades is slow, and slightly lower health on the barricade. Then nerf the cooldown on hunter dodge.
Barricades need to be removed from pvp. Their shoulder charge ability should be tied to class. Knockout should be tied to melee and should be used up on a kill.
"Players (in PvP only) can no longer move through Barricades. Citan's Ramparts now allows all players to move through the augmented Barricade and the caster of the Barricade can shoot through it."
Ngl titans can’t have anything 😂🤷🏾♂️they want to nerf us into the ground because of the abilities THEY GAVE US. I agree with going thru the barricades doing 99% health. Make it to where you lose health but be able to survive a punch after the health loss.
I don't really think titans are as big of an issue as we say they are. Obivously bubble is annoying but there are several counters including the most used shotgun in the game, condintional finallity. I do agree with your idea of not allowing baracades to take away 99% of your health. Every class excels in their own area of the pvp meta it's not just titans.
What’s your best roll on the overreach now? Yeah agree really. I want everything that slows the game down nerfed. Bubbles and Wells should be banned in Trials or any game mode with a capture point too for obvious reasons. I was watching a stream and they were like sick bubble what a play lol like it took any skill rather than pressing a button, and I was like wtf is this cringe game I play.
@@Awake_wl Nice I got Snap Opening but only 57 handling so I use that one on warlock and use my arc elemental on Titan too. My favourite one is my snap moving target one though but it has a perfect roll, I like moving target for trials though where il gladly double body someone to have an advantage and moving target stays active. I want a better handling opening shot snap tho too.
I definitely think sbmm is a big part of why the game feels so bad. It makes the game so much harder to balance, Because people feel forced to play the meta. The game would feel so much better without sbmm.
Really?! Titans are OP, hunters are literally garbage now. Allround titans are far the best class, i use all classes and no one can touch titans overall in pvp

So I got two possible ideas:
1. Give grenades an extra damage modifier to shields. This would mean 1 grenade + tiny amount of firepower would break a shield.
This way shields retain their cooldown and strength against guns but have a means to tear them down in an appropriate time and effort
2. Have teammates receive friendly damage if they walk through teammates barricades. This way, they have to think carefully about barricade placement and can't just freely place them wherever they want and choke out the other team.
Give them that balance change you mentioned where they do 50% health damage instead of 99% as well
Not really just give them other option to use and barricades use will go down
Just introduce twilight garrison that consumes half or a third of the barricade
Even a nerf won‘t fix the state of cruicible. I feel like destiny UA-camrs trying to fix the game through balancing solutions is the sisyphus meme
2:21 im not even a titan main but i find that too funny. I wish it never was nerfed. way more fun and chaotic than arc titan
What do you think about Strand Titans
Actually a really fun class, working on a vid for them right now!
@@Awake_wl Yeah. I am a Hunter Main as you probably know but have been playing Titan Strand lately and really like it
Nerf cooldown, how much dmg they can take, make it so you don’t get one shotted for touching them, and make it take longer to deploy them.
Remove strafe speed and sprint speed from PK,s
Okay nerf it also don’t make hunters able to vanish cause they’re harder to shoot… ridiculous.
Sad year to be a Titan main in pve been nerf after nerf
Yeah I feel that I really hated the shoulder charge change for pve it was fun to spam lol
triple titan?more like triple solar warlock or triple hunter with bows and grenades
The most successful teams still run triple titan at this moment
I don't really think titans are as big of an issue as we say they are. Obivously bubble is annoying but there are several counters including the most used shotgun in the game, condintional finallity. I do agree with your idea of not allowing baracades to take away 99% of your health. Every class excels in their own area of the pvp meta it's not just titans.
If SBMM is a thing, they need to make cross platform the default and only option. If they aren’t gonna for that, leave SBMM out of quick play.
I have a snap elemental cap roll I really like, still looking for the snap opening roll to use when I’m not on arc
There is a subset of the pvp community that will basically not stop intil titans have no ovp value...
I definitely think sbmm is a big part of why the game feels so bad.
It makes the game so much harder to balance, Because people feel forced to play the meta.
The game would feel so much better without sbmm.
Yeah I think this is the biggest thing tbh, personally I think sbmm in games that don’t incentivize winning just feels bad
100% they need less health
Happy to trade a nerf to titans for a nerf to hunter's reloading their weapon, getting their health back, and going invis with wormhusk.
Really?! Titans are OP, hunters are literally garbage now.
Allround titans are far the best class, i use all classes and no one can touch titans overall in pvp
