Another major thing about improving is that when you die to something even if its "cheesy" or they had a loadout that was objectively better than yours instead of getting mad at the situation think how you could've not died there sure the solution might require you to put in way more effort to win said situation than what the enemy is putting in the kill you but at the end you'll come out a far better player.
Ok this is basically what I needed to hear. It’s just frustrating having to put in so much more effort to beat someone just because they’re using an overpowered weapon or ability. Fusions are my least favorite weapon to fight. And when I use one, I don’t feel like I deserve those kills, so I never use it. Sometimes I just ask myself how could I have won that fight. And when fighting these things, the answer sometimes literally is I couldn’t have. I would’ve had to not challenge.
@@BuffGenji sometimes that really is the answer. You lost because you tried to fight the weapon in its (ridiculously large) range and you should've either played cover or disengaged. The most golden rule of destiny is dont take a fight unless you have a win condition thats consistently achievable.
This is huge! If I’m losing a trials game I am always tempted to switch to a “cheesier” loadout, but staying focused with my loadout helps me improve in the end. Try to figure out what happened. Was I outside/inside my engagement range? Did they get to a lane first and were waiting for me?
Great video! As a slightly above average player (I’ve gotten solo flawless in freelance several times), getting better with a challenging loadout helps you improve so much. Stop caring about your k/d and your placement on the scoreboard. A small tip from me would be to get comfortable with a loadout in 6v6, then take it into rumble or survival to actually get good with it. You’ll have way more 1v1 situations that show if you’re competent with a new loadout or not.
A few more things I want to say, obviously use whatever you enjoy using, this is just my advice to help improve specific parts of your game by trying to use certain loadouts Also im not hating on playing to win either, it is totally valid to play however you want and use whatever you want to win . This video was more so just to point out that you should you make sure your loadout matches your intentions of playing ..I am just genuinely trying to give my advice and share what I did to help myself improve!…if you disagree with the point of view that’s totally fine you’re allowed to:)
I’m a smg peace keepers main (shout-out cool cheese) and would love to see a vid we’re u just break down ur movement and some of ur opening lanes at the start of games, lately I’ve found myself just focusing on map play and positioning
Since I started playing, I’ve always used a build to improve my skills, running hc and shotguns or snipers with warlock, the hardest character to use imo. I never went for the cheesy easy win stuff, I always had a very positive mindset about skill growth despite getting constantly stepped on by stompies hunters or one eyed titans. As soon as I switched to hunter two seasons ago my kd is constantly jumping higher. And then I see some players with 7k hours and 500+ flawlesses abusing the meta as much as possible, melting everyone and tbagging out of nothing. Definitely a very good video, something I never saw anyone doing. Cheers man. (also good choice for the music, I recognized the original theme from Pokemon Emerald, so many good memories)
My lovely friend he was the one what inspired me for pvp and the only one what has patience enough to hang arround with me all the years until now (still he's there thanks god 😂) he used to say to me all the time; "Improvement is everything.." Well after so many years im indeed using finally handcannon sniper and never ever have something felt better and more rewarding than that ❤ yeah yeah also these days with almost everybody spraying arround with scouts and pulse yeah... Thank you for that video and your words ❤
Nice work bro! I agree, annoying as it is to lose a game because the other player is using something obnoxious, switching to it or something equally broken is just gonna make the situation worse! Not everything in this game is created equally, I think you can outplay almost everything if you play smart but it’s definitely annoying dying to something cheap when you have to put in more effort to use something that requires more aim, positioning or movement. I think hand cannons require all 3 of these to use well and shotguns require 2 out of the 3 (not really aim) as with that loadout you constantly put yourself in danger, over using a pulse or a scout which is just an easy rotate away to safety. Hopefully they fix some of the broken stuff soon so skill is more involved with the outcome of gunfights!
I personally really enjoyed this and respect the vibes your putting out for the community. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, I hope it helps a lot of guardians👍I know it will help me!
I agree with you on winning vs improving. Alot of ppl only play to win with the cheesiest loadouts. Your example of ppl using omni in trials was perfect. Now I used to run this setup long b4 void 3.0 , hell since omni came out but I get bored and build something else. I used almost all weapons but for along time I refused to use shorties. I felt like they weren't skillful, but it does require a certain skillset tht you can utilize with other weapons. I don't agree with ppl about snipers( BTW you were hitting some amazing shots). I personally don't use meta weapons, there always weapons tht ppl write off as trash. Like 180's or scouts. Right now I ppl to win, so I don't use hc or shotties but I'll play with any other weapon, I haven't played with fusions in about two seasons just because of the ammo nerf. I don't know if I care to improve because I'm currently trying to improve on apex. Maybe one day. Great video
I actually enjoy you this is my first Video of watching you as a player, and god we need more people like you explaining this crap to everyone. I've as a descent player been trying to explain this to everyone not just in D2 but that also includes a lot of games there are habits people make, and it ruin their flow of the game because they gotten so use to playing that way. For me I've now just started using more guns in PvP to get a better handle on them with me use to be (Blizzard Player) HC, Snipers. Now since I've been trying to work on other guns I've improved my skill as a player but mainly people complain that I don't use Meta, and I could get more KD... I don't care for KD I only care with my friends, and I are playing together as a Team! Really dude keep it up I like you.
Thanks for the vid! I completely agree with the statement that some people play just to win, others play to improve. I like to say I play to improve. Cuz I don’t crutch weapons typically. Sure I used classy restoration, but only if I happened to use solar
This was interesting. Ive seen a few vids on improving and always felt like the advice was vague as its hard to explain how to essentially improve your intuition and instinct, but hearing you explain a practical way to almost force yourself to rewire the way you play by using loadouts that require this level of instinct was insightful. Thanks.
I’d play all of them, they all help w certain things, I think rumble is really good to practice 1v1s where as control is good for forcing you to take on multiple enemies in a short amount of time which are both important skills!
A very interesting point of view. Kind of agree, but using solar classes right now (with the seasonal goodies) feels a bit easy. I main hunter and like to go invis - without Omni ( Graviton, Jesters and Foetracer). With solar, especially Wormhusk and restoration, my KDA goes up. So, should I try HC + shottie with solar or go all out and switch to arcstrider? Right now, that would be harder.
I agree. Using solar is easiest at the moment. My KD has been easiest to maintain cause of solar. Before this season I was an arcstrider main, gonna switch back to get use to it again. Just gonna feel a little sweaty lol
i main arcstaff even in this meta. i’m almost always using hc shotty. but in trials i will switch to solar w classy. my advice is if you want to improve you can use solar, just don’t use classy or wormhusk. they breed bad habits, bad game sense, and being able to get away with stupid plays you wouldn’t be able to get away with otherwise
Good one for a new player like me. I main pulse and HC and now I can tell they dictate my play style. With pulse I die less but have to keep distance to my advantage. For big maps I run pulse and SMG, and HC shorty for small maps. Look forward to educational videos like this man good work
Great vid man, great points made here. I've been playing d2 since forsaken and never have been a pvp god haha. But since 30th anniversary I've gotten a lot better. Been doing a lot of what you have been saying here and it has def made a big change to my game sense. Was always a pulse rifle, shotgun guy. Could never really master HC's. Now I love using 140's and 120's and when I go back to pulse's I feel even more accurate.
That’s great dude! That’s exactly what I did as well used to main pulse, switched to hand cannon and now when I do use a pulse I’m much better than I used to be! That’s sort of what made we want to make this as I just wanted to share what I did since it really helped me out!
Thank you for this. I'm going to switch it up a bit and hope I can really improve my primary shot. I'm struggling with enhanced rangefinder on austringer but I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.
Im mainly a hand cannon main. Ngl its kinda hard this season because everyone is using pulse rifles, scouts, lorentz, specials. Basically no skill weapons
Well, I can say that even simply trying smth new can improve you as a player. I've always been a sniper main but only this season I started trying a lot of new weapons and builds that helped me improve my positioning, movement, aim and etc. And after 2 month of trying different loadouts and weapons i realized that i started playing much better even with my previous main loadout. I guess i just got bored with it and needed new experience but anyway. All of that experience (and switching from ps4 to pc) with different builds showed me a lot of ways to play that improved my skill a lot. Great video that i would like to see earlier but anyway ty for content and thanks to Cammy for inspiration with trying something new in this giant game
I'm in a bad spot. This month I went from being a botwalking jim, to drop +25 guardians per game and top fragging. I don't know what I did or ceased to do to improve. How can I track my improvement? Because I just live in fear it's just a phase and it'll go away.
Hey love your vids. The snipe one helped me a lot! Decided I was gonna main sniping this season and get good with it. I didn’t use classy or anything cheesey just straight up wanted to develop my skill. And I did! I get pretty damn good! And now I feel like my skill has completely retreated. I’ve talked to my clan and some people who are god tier snipers and asked what I’m doing and almost all of them said the same thing, “it’s just the growing pains of sniping.” Or “sniping is often 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.” Things of that nature. So I was wondering if you can make a vid or give advice since your such a beast with a snipe of what to do when you’ve hit your rut or “growing pains” with a snipe. Cause this is driving me insane.
