- This video was a behind the scenes look at how the character of Mr. Hyde was created for LXG at Steve Johnson's Edge FX. We were part of the team that fabricated the suit and make up and helped bring the character to life on set. Thanks to Steve for generously putting together such a cool featurette!

Forget foam Hulk Hands, I want one of those mechanical Mr. Hyde arms!
Me too dude, it's like something outta the terminator
This movie came out on my 33rd birthday. Practical Hyde is still a work of true artists.
So you're 54 y/o now. Oooooh.
Jason is so lovely!! This seems like such an awesome set to have been on.
I bumped into him in Oxley's Wood about 3 years ago. I dunno, but he seemed genuinely surprised that somebody recognised. He was with his family, so kept it chilled. I just mentioned to his son that he dad was a very good actor, Jason's face slightly blushed.
Who wouldn’t have fun doing this? You get to dress up as a big monster run around and hit stuff. It’s like my dream job!
That last prediction towards the end of the video about the future of special effects being a combination of practical and digital was spot on. He knew what he was talking about. Granted this movie wasn't made too long ago and practical and digital had been used numerous times already prior to this movie coming out, but I feel the statement holds true, even more so now.
jason is so involved, love it
Man! The stress alone to make Mr. Hyde. Amazing engineering and artistry. Well done. 20 years have passed.
It’s amazing to see the work and pure talent that goes into one single movie … This is one of the better looking Mr. Hyde’s
Thank you so much for posting this I just wish I could tell that director how much I appreciated this over CGI. The Hyde character was my favorite because it wasn't CGI. Absolutely grateful for everyone's hard work and the time it took to pull this off
Practical effects baby
LOL no kidding. His accent work is really impressive. He does american with a hint of Brooklyn in Mirrors with Kiefer Sutherland.
RW:just seeing Hydes arm and the metal arm includ ed in the padding skin arm reminds me of those terminator movies to what i know most of all is that one part in Judgement Day when the T-800 or 1000 cut his own arm to reveal the metal skeleton arm to show that he isnt human, but more machine.
Practical effects are king and always will. They don’t make movies like this anymore.
Hyde in this movie looked infinately better than the crap CGI one from Van Helsing.
Kousaburo not
اه لو ارجع ٨ سنين 😭😭
I think if the Van Helsing one were a little more polished he’d look better because I do sort of like the way he moves but in general I agree that LXG Hyde is so much better
The Van Helsing version didn't look terrible but it didn't look as real and grounded as this practical effects Hyde looks.
Holy shit the making of it kicks ass look at that arm!!!! Wtf!!!! Just as beautiful as LOTR or SW
would be awesome in a fancy costumed party with a cigar in one big hand and a Champaign glass in the other!
Watching this movie, I'm just disappointed because I realize how good Hulk could look in the Marvel films using the technique with force perspective. So sad.
4:36 Your Arms When Your Single Forever
Beautiful work, absolutely beautiful.
Xj
You aint got a lott of videos, but what you got is very cool indeed!
Good show man!
great job guys much more amazing than some CGI !
I love this character everythig is cool the actor made a perfect roll too
hes good at switching over to american / southern dialect for a british guy
Whenever someone badmouths this movie, show them this. The time and effort.
01:11 - The expression on the face of the woman! 😂😂
TLOTR did a good job of mixing practical and cgi. I still think Peter Jackson prefers practical.
Movie was terrible lol (not dogshit but could have been so much more) but the practical effects were on point here. Appreciate this.
al112v5 i like it so underrated as my opinion
Anthony Lopez Read the comic.
That is the only thing I remember from the movie and I always wanted to know how they did it.
Why they never do the incredible hulk practical effects animatronic that would be more great it will mix with cgi
What a shame that Steve Johnson backed out of makeup effects.
he was one of my favorite characters. of course sean connery is my favorite in every movie
@Kousaburo I Dissagree That One Captivated Me. Incredible Bad Guy.
💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
@SheeClothingINC could you re upload the 1st part, it has great stuff
Jay Jay
This is so sad in a way, because Jason Flemyng is an excellent actor and that suit is so cool, but unfortunately the horrible CGI fucked so much up of that movie's effects.
ALI RAZA You're obviously right, this film is famous for it's good CGI.
those arms that articulate would be the sickest thing to have
a god damn week HAHAHAHAHA
It’s sad that cgi is the future now and this is nothing but the past
The make up must have taken a long time
I'm not much of a fan for a hulk like Mr HYDE but I must say this is very interesting this could have been used for a Hulk movie instead of a cgi one.

to the 43 people who like this movie, spend a movement to think about your existence.
@leopoldvs well either way the movie was tolerable.
Waste of great practical effects.
The movie had such a cheap visual look.
