This is a cover of It's Going Down Now by Atsushi Kitajoh, Lotus Juice and Azumi Takahashi from Persona 3 Reload. I have recreated the track as if it was originally composed by Shoji Meguro and released on the PS2 around the time of the original Persona 3's release.
Persona 3 Reload has been out for almost a week now, and I happen to really enjoy this song, so why not be trendy and cover it while it's hot? Just like my previous Shoji Meguro covers, I've tracked down his guitar tone that he used from Nocturne to Catherine and recreated it to use in these covers to make it sound authentic. The multi effects processor that he used was the Line 6 POD 2.0 and with some fiddling and EQ, you can achieve his tone from that era.
The vocals have been isolated from the original track using AI which I've never done before, so there are a few artefacts but overall it came out better than I expected. I've also uploaded an instrumental version juuuuust in case Atlus doesn't like them though.
The trouble with this track is that it was already composed in Shoji Meguro's style to begin with, using plenty of trumpets, piano, clean and distorted guitar, the "baby" sample etc. So just doing a straight cover would be kind of redundant, but I didn't want to change things too drastically. So I changed a few elements and added a guitar solo and changed the bridge to sound a little more like Battle for Everyone's Souls.
I'm not as confident about this cover but I hope you still enjoy it anyway!

I really love the attention to detail in making this sound authentic to the PS2 era, up to and including that fact that Lotus Juice is mixed into oblivion.

Considering this has been stuck in my head all day, here my thoughts:
Negatives: It's not longer
Positives: That guitar, bro. The original is good, but the Meguro guitar strings make this song feel like it's an actual Persona song. The drums also help too. And to the original's credit, the strings at 1:37 are probably my favorite bit from the song as a whole. The fact that you added an entire solo that wasn't there in the actual song as well is just 🤌.

Very impressive and kind of comically accurate. I do think the mixing could use some adjustment, like the voices being a bit louder, but overall amazing job.
Honestly the vocals being too low in the mix makes sound more ps2 authentic imo 😅 flashbacks to trying to understand a single word in Deep Breath Deep Breath or really anything in Nocturne

Imagine this as an endgame battle theme, just like The Almighty. I hope more of these bangers keep coming up, cause they SLAP.
Funnily enough, this theme borrows elements from Darkness, FES's final boss theme. And this remix makes the comparisons a LOT more apparent, especially with the added guitar solo.

This cover is absolutely sick, & I just love the concept of trying to see what this song could've sounded like with Meguro, instead of Kitajoh, in the original Persona 3. Let me just say, you absolutely nailed the Meguro guitar tone at 2:18, it sounds super similar! I read your description, and its great to gain some insight into how this was achieved. Also, man that guitar solo was flames. Overall, you did a great job with this cover, it sounds great!
If you would like some more insight into some of the virtual instruments used in the original Persona 3, a plugin called "Kick Ass Brass!" was used for the trumpets everywhere, even up until P5R in Take Over. Unfortunately, not much else is known about P3, apart from a lot of the vocal samples being from "Best Service." Trilian, Stylus RMX, & Scarbee Mark I are used for the bass, breakbeats, and rhodes, respectively, in Persona 5, though! I hope that helps you out, & good luck with your music!
This Remix helped me remember a lot of important associations with Persona 3 that I needed to percieve for a new time again. It's saving.

I think my only criticisms are the lyrics feel a little too muted and the drums sound too artificial, but otherwise this is incredible. You captured the PS2 era of Persona really well with this.

The instrumental version sounds far better imo, so I think the major flaw is how the vocals were integrated into the rest of the mix
nah vocals are perfect being muted that is the way music SHOULD BE Vocal in harmony with music not the sole attention grabber.

Your guitar cover is great. But what it makes really feel shouji meguro persona 3 is the drums. The drums kick if i am not wrong at this section (2:21) were sick, this drum kick almost in any persona 3 ost that shouji meguro did. And i love it.
Eventhough the original is good on it's own. I feel missing some part that it feels this is persona 3 then i realize it was the drums kick all along that i missed.
Anyway still great cover tho.
