In all of my years of singing, I've never come across another duet like Peabo Bryson & Roberta Flack. As good of a singer as I am, I've only found one duet partner that allows us to capture the magic like them and it still doesn't come close! Maybe one day, but probably not soon.

I agree about Donny's amazing vocal ability and depth of soul. There are also other talented living and breathing artists today (Although not in abundance I'm sad to say) that are deserving of accolades as well.
i know roberta flack and donnie hathaway were real lovers, but when you listen to this song and others off of this album, you would think they were the real deal!! beautiful song!
I have your back on this fotodoode. I was also there for this recording. The Holiday Star Theater on I-30. Across the highway from Century Mall. Also Donny Hathaway had been prayerfully resting in peace 16 years prior to this performance.
what a great posting and album (I have it) I don't want to start an argument on this but I was at this particular concert in Merrillville Indiana and Donny was NOT there, the male backup singer was actually none other than Luther Vandross, he was known but his career had not taken off yet. The show was amazing.
I can recall that the Donny & Roberta version is shorter ... only leaving the listener wishing it were longer ... Tastefully leaving the listener yearning for another duet... WOW!! Talk about Marketing!! Sir if you find it, listen to it only once, and you will yearn the Donny Hathaway Vibration... and although he had only filled the background, It's like God answered Roberta! Peabo is great... unfortunately.. God Made 1 Donny Hathaway, and then Broke that mold!!"

Yes, this is wonderful Peabo Bryson; however, Donny Hathaway didn't sing the studio version. You're comparing Bryson to the wrong guy. The male singer was Eric Mercury. Donny only sang You Are My Heaven and Back Together Again on that particular album.

I, as a witness heard this original, and so did the followers of "Donny Hathaways Vibration" respectfully request, that you please give unto Caesar what is due to Caesar, and listen to Roberta Flack "clearly state at the end of your selection... Peabo Bryson"... in this altered duet,,, please??
God please give us back Donny Hathaway and we'll gift wrap and return Simon Cowell / Justin Bieber by express delivery. Donny's originals were so, so superior to anything done by Peabo.
This is the live version right? Peabo is great but no match for when Donny vocals' arrive on the original album cut. Great version still though. RIP Donny.

dony hathaway had so much more soul in his voice than peabo. just listen to donny say "oh why, oh why" towards the end. heavenly
