Here on January 1st, 2025.. just watched Luther Vandross’ documentary on CNN. This is one of my favorite songs of Luther’s because of the duet with Gregory Hines. Rest In Peace, Mr. Vandross and Mr. Hines. Thank you for this beautiful song that we will enjoy for years to come.. 🩵🙏🏼🩵🙏🏼

Gregory Hines and his brother Maurice were both performers from childhood. Maurice passed in December 2023. It wasn't hard for Gregory to hold his own with Luther, he was a lifelong performer. Look for him and Maurice performing Crazy Rhythm from the movie The Cotton Club.

The mom of the group I went with was a very petite lady. We were fourth row from the front. When Marvin sang Sexual Healing, this little lady walked up to the stage with her hand out for a hand shake. He shook her hand, and she was so excited, I think she jumped higher than the stage.

Cissy Houston, Alfa Anderson and Lisa Fischer are some of the background singers in this song and they sound so beautiful together. The instrumental of this track is stunning and really shows just how good the background vocals are. Try and find it if you can and you’ll see what I mean. When I saw Luther in person in the 80s, it was with Gregory Hinds. I saw this concert my first Luther concert. What a great constant and Gregory Hines is fantastic! Both are very, very much missed, but definitely remembered.💙💙💙💙

ban2fab4 I went to four Luther concerts, and he outdid himself with each concert. I went to a Marvin Gaye concert a month before he was killed. The mom of the group I went with was a very petite lady. We were fourth row from the front. When Marvin sang Sexual Healing, this little lady walked up to the stage with her hand out for a hand shake. He shook her hand, and she was so excited, I think she jumped higher than the stage.
As a grown woman, I understand the apprehension of trusting your heart and letting love lead. I appreciate this song so much. It really is beautiful.
