Damned....they look so damned nice compared to today...stylish, femine and a lot of effort made to look really good! Unfortunately for me I was born that decade so missed it all!
In Sept this year, a plaque was unveiled to finally recognize Mary Quant's BAZZAR boutique on King's Road. She opened her shop in Nov 1955, 64 yrs ago.
I worked for Remington rand in Kensington high street ,every lunch time we would go to Woolworths restaurant to spend our luncheon vouchers ,then round the corner to “bobas”to chat up the birds 😀😀
The Boa's took me back. My first wife {You gotta have more than one, don't you????} Bought this fantastic Long yellow Dress with Pink Polka dot's and a Lime Green Boa, for us to got to one of the Oxford University Ball's to see the WHO. Not that I went to Uni. I ran a small Boutique called KING JOHN'S and went up to Carnaby Street every fortnight on buying trip's.... Now you don't get to live in Heaven very often.... Oh, just for the record, the Shop's owner was a king pin Gangster who shut me & the Gal I worked with out of the kitchen once a month, so all the bent copper's could come round and get paid. LOL Never mentioned that before. That my Friend's was the 60's..... Thank's for taking me back.
