  • Fashion hungry Mods, fed on a constant diet of ''Ready!Steady! Go!'' Every Mod just had to be clued up, the haircut, the suits and that Mod ''LOOK'' They had their heroes, but one band The Small Faces stood head and shoulders above them all.

Cheers Paul, am glad to make these videos, before Elon Musk puts a chip in my brain, so his ''Planet Of The Apes'' plan rules us all ,Charlton Heston beat him first😂😂😂, he needs a Parka, a scooter of his choice, go out for a run, then I will say, ''I don't wanna be like everyone else that's why I'm am a Mod, see??'' now your cool Elon , we are the Mods!!!! All the best😉

I'm now 70, English, and know my Rock music. I saw the Small Faces in 1966, a great time and very exciting,
but could hardly hear a thing for screaming girls, I was with a girlfriend. This band had everything, brilliant Rock
Pop, Blues, Music Hall, and Whimsy, all delivered with a surging powerful voice, by who, IMO, was the best Rock singer of all time, Steve Marriott.

By the summer of 1966, the mod scene was in sharp decline. The mod subculture lost its vitality when it became commercialised, artificial and stylised to the point that new mod clothing styles were being created "from above" by clothing companies and by TV shows like Ready Steady Go!, rather than being developed by young people customising their clothes and mixing different fashions together.
As psychedelic rock and the hippie subculture grew more popular in the United Kingdom, many people drifted away from the mod scene. Bands such as The Who and Small Faces had changed their musical styles and no longer considered themselves mods.
Another factor was that the original mods of the early 1960s were getting into the age of marriage and child-rearing, which meant that they no longer had the time or money for their youthful pastimes of club-going, record-shopping and scooter rallies.

What faded away in the South still lives today in the North and as done since the early 70's.

I agree with your comment. The all-nighters, Scene, Last Chance.. in the west end closed so the mod culture certainly in London was dead, as was the subculture fashion. For me personally the mod scene was Soho.
