Momentum SeaQuartz 30: Relying on Hollywood not QC
Вставка

- As a fan of the TV show Magnum PI, The Sea Quartz 30 watch is a very recognizable watch. This watch was loaned to me by Paul with whom we've done several live shows. While a great watch from a Hollywood perspective, the QC on this watch is raising some serious flags. What do you think?

I have this watch it is a fun watch to wear, nothing so serious. I bought it because of the history. It is a great watch for the beach anything that your doing . What is great is that the price isn't going to break the bank. Buy it for what it is and enjoy it.
Excellent point.
Wow! I bought my Seaquartz 30 on the initial preorder and have had it since it released. My bezel is great, the lume lasts all night and the second hand hits the marks more than not. I’ve worn it extensively and love it. I liked it so much I bought the SQ30 Eclipse. That k e I do t like as much as the original. I just wear it in the tropic strap, which I prefer. Honestly though, it’s been on the shelf since I got my Glycine Combat Sub. That watch hasn’t left my wrist since I got it
The Glycine Sub isn OUTSTANDING watch.
From what I've seen, your SeaQuartz 30 experience is more unusual. Glad it's a keeper.
Chronosport did not design the case.
It was designed and manufactured by Monnin, a French company.
They supplied other watch makers as well;
Heuer, CWC, and more.
The crown guards and crown are the same on all Monnin cases, the idea is to surround and protect the crown from shock. Unlike the current Submariner where the crown is not fully enclosed therefore vulnerable to damage. 😊👍
Thanks for the info. That explains why the crown is shrouded the way it is. Thanks for watching and commenting.
My sea quartz is very well built - bezel is very tight and accurate - the seconds hand is a bit off but nothing crazy for an inexpensive watch - I think they have consistency issues with qc
Good to hear. Thanks for sharing.
If they up’d the quality QC and lume this would indeed be stellar and definitely sell in bigger numbers not only to those of us who remember Magnum PI. Cheers Tim 👍
Totally agree, have a great week!
Hi Tim. Been thinking about this watch for some time now. I wouldn’t have gave it a thought if it weren’t for Magnum. 😏 I’ve said it before, but I love my Citizen Promaster Diver Men's Eco Drive Watch - BN0150-28e. All night lume and just a rugged all around diver (ISO certified).
Hey, if you want a cheap one, I know someone who'll be selling his pretty soon, hahahaha.
I second that emotion! I have the Citizen too and it's my favorite grab and go watch. I have it on a bracelet that I picked up at Long Island watch. The second hand hits all the markers, and the the lume lasts all 🌙 night!
@@Paul_Whaley😂 No thanks.
Solid choice on the Citizen. I trust Citizen quartz movements more than any other major manufacturer. They all have their issues but it seems Citizen has nailed the quartz side of things.
i love this watch, don't own one yet.
i've heard some people get great QC on their watches, while on others it's a bit poor, but i think for the price you pay you can't really expect too much better than this. maybe the newer releases have better QC as they aren't quite so rushed, as i believe it went out of stock several times due to the demand outstripping supply.
the ONE thing i wish they had done different is to buy back the rights to the Chronosport name and logo, i am not a fan of the Momentum logo, the name is okay but I wish it was still Chronosport
I agree on the QC. It’s probably a few and not systemic. The Chronosport name would’ve been the icing on the cake. Have a great week.
@@Realidealgear thanks, you too!
Ive got one on the black tropic strap and it a pretty solid example. I just wish they'd released the solar version at the same time as I'd have picked that one.
Thanks for the upload.
Cheers 🍻
The solar would be an interesting twist...and I might pull the trigger on that model. Take care and thanks for watching.
Great review Tim! All of the QC gripes that you noted were there when I received the watch back in February. Really quite disappointing from the brand.
Thank you for loaning it to me!
You've hit a rough patch this year...The Arnie, the SeaQuartz have been tough on trust given to large and small company QC units. Talk again soon!
Shame about the QC issues. And also, not sure they can rely on the Hollywood effect. You and I are old enough to remember Magnum but anyone younger than 40 might not…🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for the thorough review!
Aren't the reruns still popular? I have no idea. I don't watch much TV anymore. Have a great week!
@@Realidealgear I don’t either. 😆. We probably have kids who overlapping ages. I can guarantee they have no idea who Magnum PI is. All I watch is watch related UA-cam videos anyway!🤔
@@Realidealgear they used to be. i'm in my 20s and i watched a fair few reruns of magnum when i was in my teens.
I think it looks good, the minute markers are part of the look. I’d prefer the markers and numbers on the dial to be whiter. We’re of similar age and I do remember watching and enjoying the show, though the Ferrari called my attention more than any of the watches LOL. Shame about the issues, it’s not a cheap watch and the bezel issue and second hand misalignment are quite disappointing. On a sub 100 dollar watch maybe, yet Casio can make a simple Duro and their other analogs hit the markers. Citizen is very good at this as well.
Excellent points and yes, the Ferrari was the icon of the show!
The one I got 5 months ago has no back-play at all.
That’s good to see…maybe this is an isolated occurrence.
Great looking watch but the QC issues are a total let down... Its like getting that really pretty girl you always wanted and then you find out she has very few redeeming qualities other than her looks. That being said I would probably date the girl and buy this watch hahaha! Take care brother!
Now that's funny. Now that you've mentioned that, I have done exactly that in my younger years!
@@Realidealgear Yeah bro... Not my best years but humorous none the less! Oh to be young and stupid. 🤣🤣🤣
Eyes hab dee see qauck 'tirty yours is different dem minds 😡
Not sure what you mean.
I need a well made quality watch, not poor QC junk
Agreed. A little more QC detail and think of the increase of word of mouth positive reviews! I don’t understand companies that ignore such consequences. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Agreed
Pretty damn irresponsible review. At least check with the owner about the issues you find, before you crap on the company. I guess integrity is tough.
I did. You should ask before you crap on the review. I guess it’s even tougher on your end.
@@Realidealgear Seems like you forgot what you said in your review. And yes, it’s really easy to crap on a bad review.
That took tremendous amounts of courage and thought to pull all that together. Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a great week.
