Do you have any of these symptoms? 🧂
I'm always constalated and my fingers and my left heel is always numb and I do not eat much carbs but at least once every two weeks I have pizza or a sweet treat .
I get all this stuff during the middle of the night if I don't eat properly and hydrate properly during the day
Yessss!! I know I don't drink enough water and I sweat a lot. I need to do my body better!!! Thanks for this video.... you're so informative.
Stephanie from Kentucky ❤
@@adriant7883that sounds like a lack of sodium because you need for nerve function.
Especially if u go low carb, your body excretes more sodium and chloride as u lose the water weight.
You need to drink more amounts of water and maybe a sports drink and take sodium bicarbonate or add sea salt to your meals
You nailed it again. Many of these symptoms both my wife and I have been having. WHY are our MD’s NOT talking about low electrolytes as a possible cause!!??
I noticed since eating more sea salt my headaches have diminished I used to get a big headache once a week
👍👍
Wonderful video Kait! I do need to up my electrolytes!
Great video, Kait! I used to suffer from cramping at night until I started adding electrolyte drops to all of my water. I supplement with magnesium, too. No more cramps! Thanks for all the good advice that you share in your videos.
👏👏
Hi Kait I really enjoyed this video thank for sharing.I hope you have a great week.
that's why I'm against LMNT, 1000 mg of sodium on an already high sodium carnivore diet and barely any magnesium or potassium. People think they are set and they have a huge imbalance.
I started Keto a month ago and decided to get LMNT electrolytes prior to starting Keto thanks to your videos. Especially in the first week or two, I had to take 2 packets a day to avoid headaches.
👍👍
Lmnt is soooooooo salty tasting!
@@JackieMoss Agreed, but I actually really love the Watermelon Salt flavor. Some of the other flavors I’m not too keen on, but Watermelon Salt is delicious 😋
LMNT is super low in Potassium - didn't work for me
I was BackPacking on Isle Royale in Summer. It was HOT! I Drank A quart of water before I started a 13.5 mi leg, emptied a 72ox camel back of water and had to filter water from a beaver pond, there was a lg bull Moose watching me from 20 yds away! In the afternoon my legs started Cramping ! I was super low on electrolytes!
I had Covid back in March, and it threw my electrolytes way off. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks, mainly due to low sodium levels. I've been recovered, but am now even more mindful to make sure I have enough electrolytes!
Wonderful video
Correct Kait, I ended up in Flinders hospital with very low potassium and a seriously high heart rate and pressure. Now I know how important meat and vegetables that have potassium. 😊
Oh wow! Ya, electrolyte imbalance can be serious! Glad you have figured out how to get more in through diet now 😁
🙂👍☕ thanks for the great information
I woke up one night with a huge leg spasm. I put some Himalayan salt in some water. Problem solved. (I wish I knew this years ago when I was playing basketball a lot more and would wake up with serious leg cramps. Better late knowledge than never, I guess)
I supplement with Magnesium Glycinate. Anxiety issues and this form of Mg really helps.
Thank you ❤
I have palpitations from time to time but I thought that could’ve been from drinking iced tea. I take magnesium supplements. I do have a bit of problem with constipation. I will try taking electrolytes more and see if there’s a difference. Thanks for this info.
This is really helpful on the education part. However, I need absolutely zero sweeteners, and the ones you suggest have stevia. Do you have one like that, with higher potassium and magnesium.
I must get back on carnivore! Keep ‘em coming coach Kait 😁
Good night maybe morning for your gorgeous have an amazing day

About 4 years ago, I was lifting heavy weights and doing crossfit while also doing a Keto diet. I had bad symptoms like you mentioned, but also I could NOT get enough water in me. I was constantly thirsty and drinking more and more (plain) water and could not get enough. I was also getting horrible leg cramps. Someone at my gym told me that drinking pickle juice might help. At the time, that did help a lot. I started eating more carbs and at the time I felt much better. But I've always been intrigued about the electrolyte imbalance issue and your video caught my eye. Thanks for the helpful tips!
It's been suddenly hot where I live. I almost fainted in public yesterday from the heat. The place where this happened felt like a sauna with no air conditioning. I just couldn't handle the intense heat after being in the room for a couple of hours. I have been drinking water like crazy to stay hydrated, but maybe I'm drinking too much? 🤔 I drank gatorade today and rested. I feel much better. I think my electrolytes are low. TY for explaining the symptoms. I will try adding electrolytes to my water bottle once a day until I feel normal again. Everything in moderation correct?👍😊
Had the cramping problem. Magnesium helped, just plain old One A Day did the trick better.
My mom has all of these symptoms. However, she has lymphademia in her legs. How can you correct an imbalance when on a strict salt intake? 1800 to 2000 mg a day. She takes supplements for both magnesium and potassium. When we mention the dry skin and all the other symptoms we always get the standard "oh thats from the water pills", she is on 2 different kinds, with no suggestions to help alleviate her discomfort. She feels bad all the time and we are at a loss.
Are heart palpitations the same as an irregular heartbeat?? What would high sodium look like??
Would be nice if there were much more morning beverages with low sugar...I've found believe it or nit Rockstar energy drinks makes about 4 flavors with only one to three carbs without using artificial sweeteners plus their full of minerals electrolytes vitamins...much better than Gatorade and other so called health drinks...the one I like actually has 1 or 2 carbs sugar and uses coconut water
Whats #4?
I use primarily sea salt or pink salt with many of my foods
👏👏
You might be sure to check the fluoride levels in the pink salt. Some of them have a lot of it.
Since adding in LMNT in a werk ago both myself and my daughter are experiencing dry mouth and parched lips. What gives?
What happened to number 4?
Oopsie!😮
Great video! I was wondering can you over do electrolytes? I always add electrolytes to my water… all my water , is that bad? (I use ultima)
Can’t overdo sodium, can overdo potassium. Which is why every day electrolytes have a higher sodium/potassium ratio. I have Sodii in all my water.
Not sure about the exact breakdown of Ultima.
@@HealthCoachKait thanks so much for the response. Interesting because I eat a lot of bananas too. Recently have had headaches I wonder if that is related. Thanks again!
@@HealthCoachKait Ultima has 55mg (2% DV) of Sodium and it doesn't say how many mg or IUs of potassium and magnesium but it does give DV %.
Calcium (6% DV)
Potassium (6% DV)
Vitamin C (110% DV)
Phosphorus (6% DV)
Magnesium (25% DV)
Zinc (10% DV)
Manganese (8% DV)
Chloride (4% DV)
It's 30 servings per container, if you get the 3.6oz container, with 1 scoop (3.4g) being one serving size.
Salty pineapple 😮 how salty ?
What was 4? You went from 5 to 3.
You don't have to buy pouches...
"Water, lemon juice and sea salt" ...
Sea salt contains sodium , magnesium, potassium, calcium ...
Lemon juice contains potassium, magnesium and calcium ...
Dizziness
I get my low sugar electrolytes got to have them..I avoid gator ade or anything with high sugar..but I also avoid artificial sweeteners

2:25 minutes in. How much sodium should be consumed in 24 hours? Also, is there a difference between iodine salt and sea salt or pink salt?
I did a keto diet and fasting diet 2 years ago and lost 145lbs in 6 months. Since then I gained it back off the diet. The keto diet I did basically says i can't eat noodles, butter, bread, sugar or at least limited to 25 grams a day. Fat is limited to 50 grams a day.
In general, 3-4g of salt per day should meet most people’s needs. You need more if you’re active or live in a hot climate (sweating). You can use either form of salt, but don’t rely on iodinised salt if you think your iodine is low. Better to get it from seafood of supplement directly.
On keto you don’t want to limit fat. Assuming you didn’t go back to eating a completely off the rails, high processed food, high sugar diet, the reason you gained back weight might have been due to restricting calories (and fat) too much on keto. You lost weight but your metabolism was damaged. I did a video on this a couple of weeks ago. I also have videos on the best foods (macros) for keto and insulin resistance which you might find helpful 🩷
@@wayne4740 Never heard of a keto diet that said no butter. (They would say no margarine) The more organic grass fed butter I work into my diet the better I feel.
Can magnesium build up in the body?
No, your body will excrete if you consume too much. Which is one of the reasons why high doses can cause diarrhea.
@@HealthCoachKait thank you for clearing that up for me.
Dr berg covered the same subject today? Odds?
Haha weird coincidence!
I have permanent lines around my mouth after a prolonged carnivore diet with improper electrolytes balance 😢
Interesting. Not sure why low electrolytes would cause any lines.
Your skin is probably dehydrated, meat dehydrates you
I take 800mg of magnesium oxide daily for my heart. If I use these supplements can I get too much magnesium?
Magnesium Oxide isn’t absorbed by the body very well. If you want a Magnesium supplement for your heart I’d suggest looking into Magnesium Taurate. The LMNT packets only have 80mg of Magnesium Malate each. I just watched another video on YT which said it’s nearly impossible to take too much Magnesium unless you have kidney failure/problems or a couple other unlikely things like that. The forms of Magnesium I mentioned aren’t the forms known to cause diarrhea (like Magnesium Citrate) but I believe if you take “too much” of any kind of Magnesium that that may be a side effect. Is someone guiding you with your current Magnesium supplement and dosage? Because it seems like a high dose and like I said, that form isn’t known to be absorbed very well. If you do switch I definitely wouldn’t take that high of a dose with a new one, especially to start, unless advised to do so by a Naturopathic Doctor or someone like that.
cant afford 2 packets a day on my current carnivore ,,,,,,any cheaper alternatives ....help the poor man out ....thinking of dr.bergs electrolyte powder for 36$ shipped and 50 servings..anyone on here tried this....thanks
I use Redmonds or Himalayan salt, plus supplement with potassium and magnesium glycinate
Yes all the time it is great. 😁
Looks like coconut water is actually the best… for potassium… and dodo is best for sodium… thoughts??
I am a bodybuilder and I have numb left heel and let fingers and I'm always constalated what's those packet names I will definitely purchase them pedylite has way to much crap in it anyway love this channel and I listen very closely when you're sharing your views thank you for being so informative.
You need more sodium if you are a bodybuilder
Hello kait, I love yr content as you explain in a simple way all things for people who are not MD or health professionals. I have been doing the low carb since 2018 and have read books of Lustig, Fung, and several others explaining why refined carbs and especially sugar and flour are causing conastant high glucose and insulin and keeping you hungry and overeating and storing exess glucose as fat in yr liver and subcutaineous and visceral fat leading to inflammation, High blood pressure and inflamattion of yr arteries and causing vessel damage of the endothelial layer and causing small dense ldl to go up and cause high tryglycerides and low hdl and causing calcification and leading to high risk of becoming hungry and fat and insuline resistant causing high risk of CVD and alzheimer, Parkinson, pcos, gut problems SIBO, bowel syndrome from gluten... I loved yr natural look way more then yr high make up and hair colouring and fake eye lashes. It would be better for all male and female subscribers to get to see you in your natural state. It would save you a lot of time and money and people would not compare themselves with the movie star fake look with all the make up and hair styling, I do love to trim my eye brows and trim some of my private parts hair as i don't like the forest look, and i get why woman do there eyebrows, but wouldnt we all fel way better if we loved ourselves without all the fake looks, i love to shave and get a decent haircut and maybe taking care of yr nails a bit can be nicer than someone like me eating away at my nails on my hands( i agree) I do love you and your content and yr smile, but i love the more natural look in yr you tube video's from 5 yrs ago
Drink lots of water because of the whoosh. Keto dehydrates you. Then we are told our electrolytes are low because we are drinking to much water.
I didn’t have cramps when I wasn’t on keto and I didn’t gain 10lb every time I had an accidental slice of bread because I had lost only water weight.
Fact... you lose 10 lb on keto .... water weight. Is not weight. Yes I was 10lb lighter but I felt muscle pain and empty for 6 years. Ever had to look up muscle cramps before keto
I don't know how ANYONE that is on a limited income can afford this @ $1.50 a pack for very long , even with the discount..
People pay more than that for electrolyte drinks (Gatorade) which have far less electrolytes. As I said in the video, salt also works for sodium, too.
Water, lemon juice and sea salt ...
Sea salt contains sodium , magnesium, potassium, calcium ...
Lemon juice: potassium, magnesium and calcium ...
Shouldnt there always be more potassium than sodium?? That’s the problem with electrolyte additives…
No, because your body can excrete excess sodium. It can’t excess potassium. We get plenty of potassium from food, not enough sodium. Which is why good electrolyte supplements prioritise sodium.
Unless you are doing an extended fast I don’t recommend supplementing high amounts of potassium.
@@HealthCoachKait that doesn’t make sense… very few foods are high in potassium…
How much do you recommend per day
4700 mg potassium is what I see we are suppose to have is that correct?
I messaged u many times but u didn't reply me mam 🥲
I do Keto and I have terrible cramps in my stomach when I do an abs workout and in my legs at night.
In your stomach might be due to improper form/not engaging properly. But legs at night could definitely be low magnesium!
@@HealthCoachKait and or lo potassium. I need both.
