ABOUT PROJECT CASTAWAY:
Project Castaway is a survival crafting title set in the Pacific Ocean. Live the life of a stranded castaway, with only yourself - and the island's inhabitants - for company! Sail the ocean, hunt, explore unique islands and gather resources as you fight for survival.

An airplane with FLOATS crashes on water and goes under. That's a lot just at the very beginning.
Not to mention the way it crashed. Did its wings fall off or something? There was no obvious reason for it to immediately go down like that.

That opening sequence sent chills down my spine that is my worst fear being lost in the ocean swimming for that island freaked me out so bad and that water looked so real.
Picking up the turtle shell was such an og forest Moment from back in the day with proto, taco and the other survivors! Great job on the vid Fooster! :)
Just recently started watching your videos and I have to say that they are amazing to watch. Especially when doing homework since your videos both give me a break from college and also are relaxing/ fun to watch. I love watching you play horror games with fisk along with games like this one.
Looks promising for sure. I know I’m not the only one who really enjoyed your old Mist gameplay so I know this will be a hit as well. Can’t wait to see future videos of both!
I respect that Foos is trying REALLY hard to act like it's fun when a jaguar stands still while he pokes it with a stick and this is very much "Stranded Deep at home" But this doesn't feel like a series of a game.
I never mentioned anything about a series? The game is still under heavy development and according to steam doesn’t release till June. Maybe you got the wrong idea but this is just a peek at the game just to see how it was.
@@thefoosterchannel I'm aware you didn't, I was just putting in my dumb opinion. You've done the forest. You've done stranded deep. This, to me, doesn't seem like it does enough of either to want to see more of. I guess I should have said "I HOPE this doesn't turn into a series" apologies
@HyJyncks disagree, you won't know if you like it untill you try it. Could be the best game this year, but if you bundle it in with all the others of the same genre you will never know.

@@josephyoshizaki408 I'm really not interested in the mentality of "HERE IS YOUR CONTENT YOU WILL ENJOY IT" There was plenty wrong with this game, just watch the video. No visual feedback from attacks, poor progression, bad AI, and to even get nit-picky, the outlines on the seaweed outline the planes of the images, not the actual image. I gave my opinion on a video and Fooster was even kind enough to reach out to speak on my opinion. I also don't know what you hoped to accomplish with this comment. But my opinion, you know, subjective opinion of MINE, is just that. My opinion. So kindly, Take your opinion away from me.

i hope the full version gives a reason why we are piloting a plane in the middle of nowhere AND didn't even radio for help before the crash.
This video playthrough gave me a cool idea for a video game. Think "Life of Pi" where it's Boy versus Tiger, instead we'll have a U.S. Marine Solder with PTSD on deep-sea fishing vacation get his boat attacked by Pirates, he swims ashore to a random island, but the Pirates just a day prior also sunk a private cargo vessel containing Live Dinosaurs. Now it's Man versus Raptor as they both struggle to survive the limited resources of the relatively large-enough island, eventually forming a bond at about the same time the Pirates come back to try to capture and sell the dinosaurs on the black market, working together to hunt their hunters.
I can't decide whether that Jaguar was just the combat AI being janky, or the game doing its best not trying to have you killed during a tutorial you completely ignore on the top center of your screen for 20 minutes straight, to nose around the island.
I thought that was a Leopard
I'm definitely a survival game fan more than horror.
1:35 I know it's silly, but I love it when he does immersive commentary, and does stuff like this, "holding his breath" when underwater, or when he makes the audio echoy when in a big echoy looking place. It's those silly, but fine touches that keeps me coming back.
I've been watching your back catalogue and have started "Stranded Deep." You and Fisk gave me the strength to persevere.
Some of the best water effects i have seen. It will be cool when polished!

Definitely has vibes of a lot of other survival games but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Just very early in development so we will see what gets added 😮

It’s good to see you back in a survival setting again. The level of immersion you create is really fun to watch. I’m sure the full release of this game is a ways off, but I’m eager for you to sink your teeth into something like this in the future.

Komodos are actually venomous and their venom keeps blood from clotting, so you just keep bleeding.
Reminds me of my time on Guam, where you could pull off the highway and find these small inlets. So pretty and no one around.
I would love to see more of this Fooster. Im curious on how you escape from being there in the future

If you want survival, give "Vintage Story" a try. It started life as a minecraft mod but is a standalone game now with great devs. They basically made what you've always wanted minecraft survival to be.

@@thefoosterchannel vintage story looks like a "clone" but its surpisingly deep and has pretty unforgiving survival mechanics + some cool innovative ideas about crafting and producing materials/ going through the ages etc.
it also has biomes like minecraft does just that they are a good bit bigger (just in case you skip through a video about it and dont notice) IMO the jungle looks pretty decent :D
definitely worth a look. beware of the wolfes! :P
I loved this!! The game is beautiful, it seems similar to many other survival island games but since it's still early in development I'd say give it some time and maybe it will be able to improve from where it is now.

I like the amount of immersion this game has. It seems to have a more realistic look to it. I also like that it still has the glossary type book to use. And being able to lay out your constructions prior to the build is a big deal. You can work on em as you go. I look forward to seeing more of this game.

This was a really fun episode. Ive seen another player playing it but you did a lot better, probably because you were a SD player and grasped the mechanics very quickly. Mind you to be fair, he had only the odd coconut before the devs did an update and added a few more! This game is even more beautiful than SD and I have thousands of hours in that. So if they eventually port this to PlayStation I WILL be buying this foe sure!

Fun fact, komodo dragons are actual venomous rather than killing via bacteria! They found out relatively recently. Also you being very tired for a solid 10 minutes in a row of the video had me twitching lol

Nice new video Fooster. Reminds me a little bit of snorkelling around a deserted part of a small island in New Zealand. So many small fishes in the shallows. Would have been eating fine if I'd had a speargun.

I will 100% do Mist again, just waiting for some updates
The light rays and bloom look good at first, but once you’re eyesight is acclimated to the brightness and definitely when you’re in the shadows looking away from the sun.. that brightness needs to come down a lot to mimic real life. Maybe have altered vision upon waking up or coming out of the water, but not your entire time on the island. Great looking game tho!
