In this video, I discover all the mods its hiding like the RennTech built engine, big Brembo brakes, custom wheels, performance suspension a carbon fiber intake and more! Even if it wasn't a real Renntech C38, $1000 is a steal for such a clean c-class. Great buy

I’d definitely put my money on that being a legit Renntech car. Sebring muffler, all the renntech goodies makes it seem so.
What about Kleemann? They make some insane mods too...
I bought a C55 about a month ago (only 52k miles!) that had a RennTech badge on the back, I emailed the VIN to RennTech and they were able to tell me what had been done to it.
Also, it does have seepage in the rear main seal, but I haven't observed any oil loss so I'll leave it for a while.

Why buy a car with problems?
@@mikestackz854 A car enthusiast wouldn't ask this question, that's like asking why you would date someone with problems. Every car has issues, knowing what they are and how to fix them is what is important.
Darin D I’m not I really don’t care about cars that much, I was just wondering why buy a car with problems
@@mikestackz854 Understandable, basically the answer is like I said, every car either has a problem or the potential for problems. I traded my 2015 VW GTI that just went out of warranty because if a water pump or turbo went out, which could cost hundreds for the former and thousands for the latter, I'd feel horrible because while I liked the car I didn't love it. If I have to invest a couple thousand in the Mercedes C55 in the next couple of years, I'll be happy with that and perhaps even proud of it because I have a strong love and emotional attachment to the car. I get so much more joy out of this car with a problem here and there than a problem free car. If I could afford a problem free car that would excited me in the way that this does I would be all for it, but for my situation and priorities this makes sense for me! 👍👍

@@tjts1 but this car is apparently 2001, and the M112 E37 was made available only in 2003. I seriously believe this car had its block bored by Renntech, and had the oil cooler also added by Renntech.

I'm actually about to pick up a c230 that has a renntech package. Wonder how much fun it will be. Its a 6 speed standard too.
@@TheShadow2056 i have a c32 amg... If rentech cant get the 38 to match it's performance... I doubt a 4cl supercharged would be even close. But im definitely curious
@@joshg4312 I was pretty curious myself. It looks authentic to detail as far as being a renntech car. It has the wheels, shift knob, body kit, supercharger and pulley upgrades. Im just wondering what it puts down compared to the stock version as I've never driven one stock or modded.
Color is called dark adriatic blue metallic. It has micah in the paint which causes it to shift black.
Amethyst Violet Metallic (994)
This right here is why I subscribed to this channel. Nice to see a rare Mercedes.
It started life as a run of the mill 225 horsepower C320, albeit one with a not that common cobalt blue metallic paint. The cobalt blue color is a really nice subdued blue that looks elegant, but not as boring as black. The car was sent to Renntech where the 3.2 was boredout to 3.8 and some additional enhancements, such as exhaust, intake, and rims were added. All completed the car is running a significant bump in horsepower all lag free and normally aspirated. Specs aren’t given, but I beleive the 3.8 is rated at 291 bhp and 305 lb-ft of torque and the cost of that increase from Renntech was $19,000. That is a lot of cash for the same amount of horsepower to be had from a 50 shot of NOS. Total upgrades on the car according to the seller total $25,000.
What makes this a bit of an odd duck, is unlike other monster horsepower Renntech vehicles the horsepower isn’t huge, and the gains put it right into competition with the AMG C32 that also came out in 2001. The C32 pumps out 50 more horsepower from its supercharger making this Renntech model a bit superfluous.
3.8-liter engine conversion, bore 97 mm, 84 mm stroke, and compression ratio 10.0:1, RENNtech high performance camshafts, Ported and polished cylinder heads, balanced and blueprinted.
Additional oil cooler added. RENNtech modified air filter housing, RENNtech modified electronics, rev limit raised, faster throttle response, top speed limit raised.
Rear sport stainless steel RENNtech muffler (2 ½ dia.)
305 HP @ 5850 rpm
305 ft lbs of torque @ 2500-4700
RENNtech suspension with lowering springs (1.5 inches lower)and Adjustable RENNtech spec’d Koni shocks, rear adjustable lower control arm bushings for camber adjustment.
RENNtech 8.5 X 18 Monolite forged wheels (20 lbs ea.)
Front with 235/40zr18 tires.
Rear 9.5 X 18 Monolite wheels with 265/35zr18 tires.
14” four piston RENNtech/Brembo front brakes (355 mm dia., 32 mm thickness)

What an awesome deal! I work for ZF (who owns Sachs), and correct they're not stock. There's a good chance the shocks are Sachs as well, I'll do some research into it.
Thanks brother!
You Sure? My W203 C30 Amg did come with both springs and shocks by Sachs and I believe they are the original ones, because the car was less than 100k miles and it had only 6 years (bought it in 2010)
Spinnaker if you got a factory AMG, yeah it makes sense they'd be Sachs. However, this car started life as a normal C320, so I really doubt it would come with Sachs from the factory, as they're more performance oriented.
@@MotownModels Cool! Thanks for the answer!
No need to research. I can see it here ua-cam.com/video/VEsG2vsu_1s/v-deo.html even on non maximised screen. White letters above the Sporting. Only thing is, I thought only Koni painted their shocks red (oil filled) or yellow (gas filled)

Sebring is a subsidiary of Remus. In the 80s Remus was a popular tuning brand, but still today. In addition, the company Remus today develops exhaust systems for special models of many brands. You can compare Remus to Borla in the States.
M112 is famous for rear main seal leaks... my CLK320's bell housing always looks absolutely soaked with oil but it leaks less than half a quart between 10k mile oil changes.
Man, I miss my W203. I always wanted this purple when I was younger too. Loving the Mercedes content. Really making me want another 😎 👍🏻
C320 owner here (85k miles). A stock c320 doesn’t shift like that and definitely can’t roast the tires from a roll lol. I think that thing has some pretty significant power over stock! It’s also strange how this car doesn’t even have the sport package (amg body kit, amg suspension). They basically sent out a base model 320. Somebody had some $$ back in the day!
It's likely worth about $10k or more. May be it's not desirable as a c320, but it's renntech so if it has official paperwork, it's worth good money
No more awesome a feeling than when something like this turns up. I smiled for days when I bought my Peugeot 405 Mi16 after finding out it had been fettled by a well known Peugeot tuning company

I was yelling at my phone about the rear bushings lmao glad you noticed them.
The factory injectors in my SLK320 are blue bosch ones. Its quite funny I've followed a very similar mod path on my SLK320, bigger air box/intake runners, custom exhaust, M113 thottle body, CL500 brake swap, Billstien B12 suspension kit. That thing chirps the tyres on a 20 MPH downshift too lol. Awesome new car tho!
Very cool you don't see too many modding the SLK320. Love those little things.
Also the wheels have those little holes for the wheel alignment thing Mercedes uses. As far as I know only Mercedes uses those type of wheel alignment machine where it has long thin spokes which go into the small holes on the wheel. Usually aftermarket ones would not have those holes and if it was by a reputable tuner they would probably make a wheel with it if it was for a Mercedes. Other wheels without those holes use the normal clamp style wheel alignment thing.
I'm so happy for you but dude, you have no idea how jealous I am!!! A 2001 C240 rust-bucket was my first car so I loved these c38 and c55 amg models 🔥
The color is Capri blue metallic, a very rare color provided by Mercedes Benz only for a few years. You can also find them on the Mercedes CLK models
Can’t be, Capri Blue is much more of a subtle blue/black. VIN decoders say this car has paint code 994 and not 359
Oliver Matthew Capri blue is actually a very vibrant blue. You’re thinking of diamond black. My C55 is diamond black. Looks black at night or on a gloomy day but it’s blue in direct light. You can google the two colors.

Great video, Alex.
We recently bought at an estate sale, a 2007 C280 4Matic with 120k miles. It was in very good shape with newer tires and while there were few repair records, my friend's shop looked up the VIN and found it had received regular maint. at local shops and the dealer, since new. So, the only things I had to do were: new brakes and rotors all around, new serp. belt, air filters, an oil change (I used Mobil 1 since it's my son's car) and coolant change. While on the lift, before buying it, we never saw anything bad or worn... ball joints were all okay and it appeared that all 8 CV joints were good as well. Only after buying it, when I was doing the front brakes, did I discover a torn CV boot on the left front side. I took it in and while they were going to replace the boot, a less expensive option was to replace the entire axle. It takes less labor hours to replace the entire axle than it does to replace just a boot and maybe a lone CV joint. So, we installed a new LF axle and all is good. It had a broken shifter plate so I found one on eBay which easily fit in. There were a few other minor issues but all in all, it's a great car. I popped off the air cleaner housing and showed my son about how easy it will someday be to change plugs. It's a helluva lot less work than on my M276 engine in the 2013 C300 4Matic. Oh, the VIN check found that the engine had no cam or crank sensor issues as well. The CARFAX was clean. The estate was asking $5800 for it, but they sold it to me for $5400. I thought it was a decent deal and while I spent some money on repairs, I am happy we spent the money.
Our son, who lives up around DeKalb, now has a much better car than the old 1996 C220 with a lot of paint issues and a little rust. I now have that one and will be fixing the rust and trying to get the heat to work before selling it.
This is going to be great!
Car is super cool and unique for sure, as far as price it’s hard to say. You’d have to find someone that wanted that exact package back then and didn’t have the huge chunk of $25k to have it done. I absolutely love the color! Well done you stole that car lol
MB C32 AMG brakes will bolt right across to any R170 or Chrysler Crossfire. *All* those vehicles already use the same master cylinder. I bought the parts brand-new from a MB dealer and did it for the front brakes. The C32 calipers are 4-piston fixed and replace single-piston sliding calipers. 345mm rotors replace 300mm rotors. It makes for a nice little upgrade that's super simple to do.
Damn, I wish I knew of your channel before selling my Kenne Bell Mustang.

Also it’s killing me the auction world is becoming more popular. I’ve been buying bmws and mercedes from copart and silicate auctions for years and with more light being shown on this area it’s going to flood the market with buyers and prices will no longer stay low like this. I’m glad more people are interested in keeping cool stuff on the road but the days of cool stuff cheap and making profit on them when selling are disappearing slowly as we go.
Maverick Smith bro for real!!! I bought a 2014 m4 in 2014 for 26k and fixed it for 8k 34k all in for a brand new m4 with 300 miles, deals like that do not exist at all anymore because of all the youtubers telling people
To get on copart and IAAI
Joshua Duarte I used to be able to buy 3-4 cars a year but since prices have gone dumb thanks to over exposure I’m down to 1-2 cars. Makes it difficult for sure. The only real huge benefit is more and more people are getting comfortable with purchasing a rebuilt title car. The sale price has less of a hit with the branded title at least in my experience but still.
Yep. Here in San Diego by the border, I remember when only a certain circle knew about the car auctions here in the border. ooo looks good Alex. Imagine a c32 blower on this ;)
Kleemann used to sell blower kits for M112 engine until not long ago, way better than the original AMG blower.
Oh really? I had one of the first 1500 C32's in NA...the Lysholm S/C was made by IHI(Japanese) and spec'd out above Kleeman, Rinspeed, Lorinser, etc and all the other copycats at 349hp/333lb-ft and full boost at 2300RPMs...with the Speedshift tranny, nobody came close...boost (14.7psi) hit with a double down shift, or depressing the accelerator and hitting the button on the floor...I also went to Hartmut's RENNtech shop when it was in Lake Park(near W Palm Beach) looking for a dual exhaust upgrade, but they had not yet designed it, and a new pulley and software upgrade for the S/C...don't be a fanboy... dusted a lot of cars in S FL with that little sleeper...way better? not even better, son. IHI is one of the top turbo/Supercharger companies in the world and a consistent Ward's 10 best...their stuff is in the Hellcat
@@gatorbuilt with the engine bored out to 3.8l the kleemann kit would work better with less stress on the s/c. mine was one of the first year C32 as well btw. lol IHI makes good supercharger, but the IHI used on the 32 was a smaller displacement one, but remember back in the day many people overseas in Asia was doing the 3.7l heads from the ML350 and because of the bigger displacement they all opted for larger superchargers.
WTF are you talking about...my C32 was delivered late Sep 2001...the 350 motor was years after that...if I recall, Kleemann used the OEM IHI S/C once the AMG version hit the market, and their tuner kits are pulley swaps, ECU mapping, free flow exhausts and cam swaps...Kleemann DID NOT swap the S/C on the C32 or SLK32...Kleemann has ALWAYS been a forced induction tuner, but AMG w/IHI was what they tuned after those cars hit the market...at best your talking about lower boost and an arguably better intercooler, therefore less heat stress, but the AMG was an ON DEMAND S/C while the original Kleemann was an ALWAYS-boosted blower...check their site and you'll see they don't install a new S/C with their K1, K2 or K3 packages, but re-tune the OEM S/C from IHI.
@@gatorbuilt lol, not even sure why you are angry. i wasn't even talking about kleemann. i was talking about the people overseas in HK and Taiwan swapping out the heads on the m112 with the 3.7 and use the m113 pistons. no one kept the IHI because even tho it may out spec'd others at the same displacement, it wasn't enough for the 3.7l. i've known at least 5 different C32 in Taiwan that ran whipples after the swap (maybe they did it more for thermo efficiency, but shows the IHI stock unit was pretty maxed out) and also the E37 M112 started productions mid 2002, not years after the E32 came out.

The intake setup was such a botch setup. There was quite a bit of performance loss with the setup Mercedes did.
Just because its carbon fiber does not mean it actually added any hp.
My nephew has an 2004 c240, we did quite a bit of work on the car overall.
He definitely needed new air filters. The intake pipes from OEM were soo bad they had duct tape on them instead of just removing them.
Deleted the filter cover, and the crappy pipes.
Bought 2 universal cold air intakes off the shelf, 90 degree elbow, an extra rubber boot, and xl cone filer.
Results were night and day, we didn't realize the car was soo restricted with that POS OEM air filter cover.
We even tested a quick drive with the air filters removed out of the cover and still was less response and power.
Seen a gain in fuel mileage as well, not super lots. Just city driving was able to pull 3 more miles a gallon out of the car.
CAI is the way to go on these cars, the motor breathes better. Not all that air trapped in the stock oem air cover getting heated up before passing through the throttle body.
What a deal!
Many Finnish people love Mercedes cars... And specially old cars... So damn i really want that car :D
@8:55 you can see the information sticker on the door sill. Alex, try to zoom in on the photo and get the vin to match this car!
Back in the day, my daily was a W115 240D. I found a mid to late 80's AMG690 in Aurora at U-pull it. Front brakes were direct fit, other than bleeder location. A 2x4 to stop the pistons with the bleeder up top worked. Best stopping car ever. I also had hella round h4's with a 100a gm alternator
A unicorn 😎 Time to build a undergound carpark Lol
Favorite channel on UA-cam!
Thanks brother! Have a great weekend.
Alex
Shaking while driving, the center driveshaft bearing. $13 fix. And also check the rear diff mount bushing $3 fix and it happens always along with center driveshaft bearing. Cheap easy fix. Good video. Kept me watching and commenting. Sorry for multiple comments
Awesome inspection Alex! Agreed.
That car looks amazing, whoever bought it wanted to keep it for a while.
It comes full circle.... I own this car now
@@BorisBidjanSaberi11 How do you like it? Did you fix the rust? Nice car!!!
Am I right to say that the rentech founder, Thomas was the AMG techie that built the US Hammers?
Renntech founder is a german ex-AMG named Hartmut Feyhl, and yes, he worked on US Hammers.
I had this C class Exactly same color 👌🏻
What memories with that car...
This was such a great find! I love stuff like this, one of the most interesting vids you have done...exactly the type of stuff I like watching, well done!
It's amazing how fast you were able to get it registered and insured before taking it out for a ride and smoking the tires! Lol
Omg what a bargain
We had a c320 for a while. Loved that car. It was pretty quick and handled well.
Another Great Video Brother!!!!!!!!!
