love these tutorial video's - keep them coming! Your explanations are so incredibly clear leaving no ambiguity at all. Well done.
Really useful video. Love the gear. Just got my MC-3 going today. Awesome.
#0:22 lined up so perfectly with the timeline. Thank you. Just waiting for you to restock the 8 ;)
What brand midi cables do you recommend? I like the ones you used here! Thanks.
Hi! We did a review of many MIDI cables and made recommendations here: www.morningstarfx.com/amp/the-midi-cable-review
Hi Morningstar - just got an MC6Mkii - its fantastic and amazingly easy to program. But, I'm wondering if there is a way to set up toggle so that whenever I change banks, whatever state the toggle switch is in in the new bank will reflect the same state of where it was in the previous one. I couldn't quite make the enter and exit bank messages do this right, or the remember toggle states in the global menu. To explain, I want to have preset A in every bank set up as a toggle for play and stop on an external sequencer (with equivalent name changes for that switch). If I'm in bank 1, and I hit preset A (play), it works as normal - the switch will change to say stop and if I hit the switch again, it will stop the sequencer. So normal toggle function. What I want is if I've hit play in bank 1, and scroll up to bank 2, or through banks, that same preset A switch will recognise that I'm in the "play" state from bank 1 (or whichever bank i initiated it ) and automatically provide me with whatever the opposite toggle function will be (e.g. if I'm in play whichever bank I scroll to will give me the option of stop). Am I missing something on how to set this up and do you have any suggestions? I don't think its quite the same as the remember toggle states option, as that just remembers the position of the toggle within the bank (i've tried turning this on and off and it doesn't seem to help). Basically I want preset A to be totally disconnected from bank changes. Thanks!
Hi. That’s not possible. Every preset in every bank is unique and cannot have the same toggle state throughout
Hey guys! Do you think you could do a tutorial showing how to change/activate multiple pedals (and their respective presets) on the MC-8 at once? I would be eternally grateful x
Hi. As every pedal is different and requires different CC messages, we recommend that you watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/NEl0EievXd0/v-deo.html This will give a good grasp on how to program your Morningstar controller to fulfil every need. Cheers!
@@MorningstarEngineering thanks guys :)
Just got the MC8 and 2 ML5s. Love them. I created a bank (using pages 1 and 2) for my analog pedals running through both ML5s. I figured how to use the toggle to display when the pedal is on or off. The short name is the pedal. The toggle name is the pedal follow by (ON). Similar to what is in the video. I also created a Bypass preset to turn off all the loops. However, the toggle name does not reset. What is displayed is the pedal name (ON), but the pedal is off.
Is there a way to reset the display back to the short name? I ran into this issue when using the blinking feature instead of using (ON) when the pedal is activated. I used the ML5 CC message to Bypass All Loops. That is the only message I created for the Bypass preset. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Hi. You can add a 'Set Toggle' message (manuals.morningstar.io/mc-midi-controller/Message-Type-List.181698784.html#MessageTypeList-SetToggle) to your Bypass preset. Select 'Disengage' to reset the toggle states of your other switches.
@@MorningstarEngineering Great! Thank you. I'll give it a try. Take care. Keep up with the awesome videos.
@@MorningstarEngineering Hello. It worked!!! Thank you so much. I greatly appreciate the support. Enjoy your weekend.
I'm trying to use my new MC8 with an HX Stomp. Would like to use the same switch to turn an effect block on/off, and a double tap to change some parameters (mix+feedback, for example). But every time I double tap, it also turns the effect block on or off. Is there a way around this?
Hi. If you have 'double tap' assigned as an action for one of your messages, the 'double tap' action will not send the messages with a 'press' action assigned. Email us at help@morningstarfx.com if you need more assistance. Cheers!
Could I set it up so that position one would have my distortion along with the reverb and position 2 would have the distortion, reverb, and a delay also? Then I could just hit the switch again and go back to just the distortion and reverb if I understand this correctly. I’m looking to use a setting like this for my solo switch.
Yes, you sure can! As explained in the video, you can toggle between 2 different sets of MIDI messages.
Hi again! I’m a bit confused because I have my overdrive CC message on the ML5 set to both, and then I want to toggle the reverb for position 2. For some reason it’s getting reversed and the toggle mode is blinking when I just have my overdrive on, and the reverb is coming on when I’m in position one it seems because it doesn’t blink. I’m checking the MIDI monitor, and it seems to be reversed somehow.

You don't actually need to engage the Timeline Looper at the Pedal.
The MC8 will control it behind the scenes and you can keep using the Delay Presets etc.
I suspect they did it here to demonstrate the functions switching.
Yes, you are correct. You can use MIDI to control the Timeline's looper functions in the background without needing to go into looper mode on the Timeline.
Is it possible to toggle between 8 diffèrent positions by switching only one button ?
Yes. We have our Message Scroll Feature for that. Explained in the manual here: morningstarengineering.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MMS/pages/186187784/Preset+Message+Scroll+scroll+through+messages+within+a+preset
Is there a place where we can see how the MC8 is programmed to control Timeline's looper?
Well just found it!
Hi there, can you toggle between 2 banks using just one footswitch? Thanks
Hi! Yes you can. It's called the Bank Jump function. We explain it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/05s44pAI-No/v-deo.html
Hello, is there a way to toggle between more than 2 program messages? For example to alternate between 3 different reverb types. Thanks.
Hi. You can use different actions to send 3 different messages (ua-cam.com/video/XP8UgpnbjiQ/v-deo.html). Or you can scroll through 3 different messages using the Message Scroll feature (ua-cam.com/video/VtSx68vfjS8/v-deo.html).

I'm trying to use Program change on my MC6 to be able to navigate up and down through the memories of my Boss RC-600 looper. I know it's possible but I don't understand how to do it... Can you explain please?

Need help on this; my setup is mc6 mkii controlling Hx Stomp.
Switch A (CC10) set to toggle FuzzOFF FuzzON
Switch B (CC11) set to toggle OcdOFF OcdON.
I wont want to stack them both, how do i make sure when OcdON, the Fuzz is OFF and vice versa?

Does toggle mode exist in Editor 1.3.0? I can't see it anywhere sorry.
OK found it in a different position sorry.
Hello, I would like to know how do you keep from the preset changing from MSG 1 to MSG 2 if I go to another switch and then come back. I have this issue were if I press another switch and then come back to my previos switch(MSG 1), The preset will change to MSG 2... Why is this keep happening and is there any fix?
we've never seen this issue before. Can you send us a video of this to our email?

@@rickyricardo2006 oh it just looks like the toggle function is turned on for your presets, hence the names are changing between the short name and toggle name. If you are not intending to have the the preset to toggle, you can just turn it off. If you're still facing issues, do drop us an email and we can take it from there.

@Morningstar Engineering
Yes thank you. Well, the toggle function is turned on because I'm having two delays on the same switch. But the issue arises when I alternate from switch to switch. That's why you can see that it alternates to different presets within the switches every time I change from switch A to switch B.
Because lets say that Im on switch "A preset 1" and then I press switch "B Preset 1". If I go back to switch A its gonna automatically switch to "preset 2"..
In other words, I wanna go back to switch "A preset 1" without having to press switch A twice.
@@rickyricardo2006 Did you ever figure out how to do this? I'm having the same issue. I see that there is a "Save Preset Toggle" option in the global menu, but that's for if you're switching banks apparently.
Hi is there any way I can make it so when I change preset, every presets toggle position reverts back to position 1.
So i'm in preset A position 1, I press A again to position 2. I then press B, when I go back to A I'd like it to reset to position 1. Is this possible? Thank you.
i'm wondering the same
you can use an press action on preset B with a Set Toggle (type box) to dis-engage the toggle for preset A
My mc8 won’t show up
Hi Mac. Please send us an email with your order number to help@morningstarfx.com. We will trace your parcel from there.
Morningstar Engineering bought the unit brand new. However had to simply update the firmware - works well now. One question: is there a way to toggle between on and off but when going to a different preset and back it is a bit of roulette. I could of course have a button that turns everything off but I want the usability to stay close to the one on the timeline for example
As of now: when ever I activate a unit and only won’t that to play I also program that it she’ll turn off all other devices ... is that the only way?
@@maconins123 That's any easy fix. You just need to change a bank setting. Email us at help@morningstarfx.com. We provide technical support from there. Cheers!
