That is absolutely gorgeous fabric. I am a long-time knitter who learned to spin two years ago. I then ended up with lots of yarn, so I got a 20" knitters loom as well and now am weaving. I have never sewn in my life (except for grade 8 sewing class,,, many moons ago), but your videos are making me want to keep an eye out for a sewing machine. These are great. Thanks for posting.
Oh how much joy you have in your laugh as you roll the fabric off the loom. That is so beautiful! you have such a gift! Thank you for sharing all this with us. You, your fabric, your lovely garments, your work space are all such an inspiration to me (and I’m sure to many others). Oh for the day when I can spin my own singles to ply into “random” amazing yarn and then weave into fabric I can make into a garment. That will be the day!
Oh, Sarah! I love that fabric! I bet from a distance it looks a bit muted from the contrasting colors. But then up close it gets to be a lovely surprise! Just brilliant. I can't wait to see next steps. Thank you for doing this! You're doing something really special for the rigid heddle community.
I’m enjoying watching the process from yarn to garment. My sewing skills are very rusty, so I’m looking forward to seeing your process for laying out the pattern pieces, cutting, and sewing the fabric. I’m glad you chose T001 since that is the one I’m planning to make.
Thank you for your videos I love them but I know it's a lot of work.getting ready to buy a bigger loom, don't know if I need a 24 inch or a 32 inch, interested in how you sew two pieces of fabric together for the back piece of your clothing, thank you so much.
Ooh.....I'm not a fan of wide looms unless they're floor looms. I just find them a bit unwieldy, and you need such long shuttles! The back and front seams will be the usual- right sides together, 5/8in, pressed open. I'll be showing all this in a future video, so please keep watching 👀
Lovely fabric! Your fabric is like what I’ve been working towards for about the last 1 1/2 years! I already call the “wear your weaving”clothing item, my coat of many colors. I’ve been spinning the yarns out of many colors. Where I am getting stuck on is how to place the yarn colors along the width of my fabric (and the weft yarns) that will look good. Will you advise please?
Hi there! I thread one colour at a time across the width, I generally avoid wide stripes of one colour unless I want to weave a definite check. Then fill in with the rest, one colour at a time. Doing a wrap first helps determine the width of the stripes. The weft is different again- I was weaving with 2 shuttles, alternating, changing one then the other. I had about 7 shuttles altogether, so I have very random stripes! You could try counting rows of each colour if you want a regular stripe, then match them as you cut and sew, but like matching wallpaper, this can waste quite a lot. I find that it's definitely worth weaving a small sample, or even a few samples, to get the look I'm after. Good luck!
@@getweaving8459 Very good description of your process! I can visualize it happening. NOW I have the courage to "Get Weaving and Wear my Weaving"!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much 💗
I absolutely love the finished cloth.🥰 Now I’m excited to get weaving and finish the cloth on my loom. I’m am curious as to what you do if the washed cloth came out smaller than the 13 inches you need? Also are all your hand spun yarns made from the same wool?
It was 13in before washing, now its 12in +, which is what I wanted. If it had shrunk too much I'd have had to be creative with my sewing, I'll be covering that in a later video...called "Help!" The handspun was all the same wool, from the same fleece, a Suffolk Cross I think.
I'm really enjoying you classes. There is no one around to ask here in West Virginia, USA. There are guilds but they are 2 hours away. My question is.... I'm a plus size girl so my question is what width of loom should I be using. I have a 40 in wide floor loom and want to purchase a rigid heddle loom. Any help you can give is a blessing.
Hi Joyce, I use my 20in Ashford Knitters loom for most of my clothing, you might find that a 24in rigid heddle loom suits you. I don't personally like a wider rigid heddle loom as I find it too unwieldy. I'll add your question to my list and address it in a later video. Happy weaving, Sarah ☀️
I relish watching your videos and see one every Sunday morning. You are so happy with your results !

Love your videos, thank you! Did you use needle cord on the bias to bind the neck and sleeve hems of your green bias shirt? Love the colour!
No, I bought it as a ready-made bias tape, I think it was very old!

@@getweaving8459 Do you ever mix different different wools in a weaving?
Yes, I mix wools- colours and thicknesses. As long as they have roughly the same stretch, and I put the same warp yarn on both edges
@@deejcarter2003 I'll be doing a video about that at a later date
