This. Immortality does not necessarily stop certain processes of the body, like brain adaptation or muscle growth, for instance.
So, it stands to reason that he can also get some other side effects (stress)

I believe it's implying he was dosed in the womb with a version of V and mix of soldier boy DNA, the show makes it clear that Ryan is the first natural birth, the comics I don't know though. If I had to guess I'd say the aging factor is more random than anything seeing as it seems to be on random characters in various points of time from storm front and soldier boy in the old days to now kimiko who was originally intended to be a supe terrorist to be abused. I don't think they have any control over who gets what power simply because multiple facilities exist to house the dangerous, uncontrollable ones.

His teammates were way younger and they got the mass produced compound V, which didn't have the anti aging effect, Crimson Countess for example, DID age as opposed to SB. That was probable a fail safe for Vought.
My theory right now is in ep 4 when a train opens hl’s “v drawer” some are missing so maybe he’s taking more v to become more powerful but it’s also working against him. Overdosing if you will

He probably got random powers from soldier boy , and he either DID get no aging, or slower aging , and its just stress, OR Soldier oy didnt pass down his direct powers , so Homelander didn't get the slow aging power like soldier boy, and has powers Soldier boy doesn't have like lazer vision and x ray vision . He also could have juat been dosed with more / other versions of Compound V, that gave him different powers.

Again to be clear, I think that Soldier Boys powers weren't directly passed on to Homelander, as Homelander didn't get Soldier Boys exact powers, but didferent ones , so I think its most likely Homelander just lucked out.

Here's the facts: Homelander's male zygote is a supe with V, his mother's identity is hidden still but it's likely it is Stormfront or another female supe who has V, rather than a normal human woman. Obviously the homeless woman was only the surrogate, which imparts no DNA to the ivf fetus, aka baby Homelander.
On top of having a confirmed male V father and a likely V mother, he was also given numerous injections of Compound V while he was a fetus, so he is absolutely filled with V down to his very molecular, DNA level.
He's the first truly natural born supe in the show (and yes, IVF babies, aka 'Test Tube Babies' count as natural born, they aren't literally grown in a test tube like some people seem to genuinely think).

Soldier Boy is Honelanders father .... So given that Homelander didn't get Soldier boys exact powers, chances are Hinelander just got unlucky and didn't get the "don't age" power.
Soldier boy presumably passed on the Compound V through his dna, so the exact powers arent a match.
Assuming he's not being affected by outside factors, there are quite a few possible explanations.
It could simply be stress. The guy has been on the verge of a mental breakdown for like 3 seasons now
It could be that the version of Compound V he was given was an adapted formula instead of the original, much riskier, version by Frederick Vought
Maybe its because he's a natural born Supe, meaning that while he doesn't suffer from any inherent side effects he also doesn't get the bonus of aging incredibly slowly

@slamyourheadin9449 considering his added powers wouldn't really help him defeat Soldier Boy says alot. His x-ray vision useless. His heat blast I doubt is strong enough to unalive Soldier Boy. I'd give Soldier Boy the edge in physical strength though they're probably pretty close. His flight is useful for trying to blitz SB simply because Homelanders travel speed is faster then His combat speed. Also he's aging like a normal human which means he'll expire like one to. We know for a fact that SB either doesn't age or ages extremely slowly and will definitely outlive Homelander.

@slamyourheadin9449 you did see the s3 finale were SB was basically owning everyone right. Ryan hit him with the same blast that destroyed Stormfront SB walked it off. Homelander and Butcher hit him simultaneously with their heat beams and barely moved him. A supercharged Starlight nailed him with a blast got back immediately and started wrecking shop. Homelander has no real way to put down Soldier Boy but Soldier Boy had a definitive way of putting down Homelander. If they start the fight both at 100% I'm more then positive SB can hold Homelander down long enough to blast him with his chest blast. And even if Homelander survives the initial blast he's powerless and easy prey for Soldier Boy.
Imagine homelander dying from old age, that would be so anticlimactic 😂

Personal Pet Theory here, but it could be a case of Rapid Cellular Degradation. We know Homelander had powers as a baby and it's safe to say Vought probably feed him doses of Compound-V as he grew up to increase them. What if the results just speed up his Bodies aging, giving him all the powers he would've NATURALLY grown into over the years, faster. Vought probably knew about the Aging issues and kept it an absolute Secret just so they could win by forcing him to use all of his powers more, thereby burning himsel out....
