Right? I always thought that those SM64 slopes which you slide down on were horribly lazy design. I remember doing the same thing first time I played as a kid. "What? That's literally barely a slope, I could walk up something twice that steep in real life, this is dumb."
Some patents like that are still around. In the PS3/360/Wii console generation a company (I believe Capcom) had a patent on minigames on loading screens, so very few if any games during that time had them.
