This was very helpful, thank you! I'm just wondering what to do with the angry part during this process? I find this part to be louder than all other parts, often louder than the Self. It can be overpowering, and even when I tend to the parts that are in need of parenting, the angry/raging part keeps saying it's not fair that I have to do this work, and that I have to pay the price for being hurt yet again.
This happens a lot - you are not alone. I would recommend doing some sessions with a therapist who is at least level 1 IFS trained. Often the angry part needs some space to be heard and validated. I find doing it alone gives one level, but having someone else present to really hear what happened and validate the anger is completely transformative. It changes everything. Good luck, Jen
Hi, thanks for this great video. I’ve been doing IFS work for about a month now and it is very very helpful for me. My question is do we have to know the age of the exile? It doesn’t seem that I ever find or feel like a age comes to mind. Maybe becauseof the amount of trauma I don’t remember much about my childhood. OK, thank you
Great question. No, you don't need to know the age of the exile. Sometimes, there will be a group of exiles holding a similar pain, so the age is not so important.
Thank you for this very helpful session! Giving examples is so beneficial!
Glad it was helpful! Please help by subscribing and sharing 🙏🏻
This is amazing!! Thank you Jen, this is helping me understand myself and develop compassion for all of my 'parts'.
You are so welcome, thank you for the feedback 💥

This is terribly abstract. A demo would be far better of an actual nblenfing.
Thank you for this - maybe I'll record one.
