Muse made an epic symphonic opera by their own. It's called Exogenesis Symphony. It has 3 parts. Check it out please ❤. I like the way you do your analysis
Matt Bellamy is irritatingly talented. Singer, songwriter, amazing guitarist, amazing pianist. It makes you sick 😁
My words exactly!
😂😂😂 exactly
Truth!
“Irritatingly talented” is the best description I’ve ever heard for Matthew Bellamy😆
He makes me sick, because i adore him so
Muse is a rabbit hole you can go down. Madness, Reapers, Mercy, Knights of Cydonia, I can go on...
New Born is one of my favorites + I’m feeling good version
I think you'd enjoy Butterflies and Hurricanes - it has a strong opening and closing, broken up in the middle by a stunning piano section - well worth a listen, especially one of the live versions of it!
Yep. Came here to say the same. Somewhat Rachmaninov inspired arpeggios, written by Matt Bellamy.
Live at Wembley worth checking out
Came here to say the same thing as well. Not his most impressive song vocally (still really cool) but that piano section has carved itself a place in my then 12yo heart it never left since.
Yes, for sure the Wembley live version. It sounds much better than the studio version.
I recommend:
- Butterflies and hurricanes live Wembley Stadium
- Blackout live Wembley Stadium
- Apocalypse Please live Wembley Stadium
- Ruled by Secrecy live
- Sing for Absolution live Glastonbury 2004
- Exegenesis Symphony part 1,2, 3 studio version
- Megalomania live Royal Albert Hall 2008
- Space Dementia live Le Zénith, Paris 2001 (Hullabaloo)
- Micro Cuts live Le Zénith, Paris 2001 (Hullabaloo)
I think it's a good start.
I'd add Hoodoo live at Wembley
I’ll subscribe if she start making a series on Muse.
They also did another classical cover on this album. At the end of the song United States of Eurasia there's a cover version of Chopin's 2nd Nocturne.
I love that you did this song, im tired of people listening to the same 3 songs
I love this song! How can you not enjoy a bass clarinet solo?! So good!
Oh, I love MUSE. The only real successor of Queen. Pop, Rock, Classic, Drama. It is all there.
It was such a treat to see how much this affected you. Getting lost in music you love is one of the best things ever.
Thank you Bethany for reviewing MUSE. So under rated, this is well deserved. You should hear their other work.
It's lovely to hear a song that just clicks in your mind and you can't stop listening to it...
Try the Beatles m
If you want to go down the Muse rabbit hole it would help to understand what way you want to go. They do heavy songs, they do symphonys, they do love songs, pop songs, songs about death, about life, songs that will make you jump around, songs that will make you cry yourself to sleep. They are all incredibly talented and write music they want to write regardless of genre or preconceptions about them. They are also better live than recorded, if you can believe that. They are truly one of the best bands of all time in terms of their dedication to their craft, the amount they put into song writing and performing, their experementation.
Spot on. Greatest live band of our generation. Matt Bellamy will go down as one of our greatest and most genius song writer and musician
I’m sure it’s been said plenty here in the comments, but the Exogenesis Symphonies I-II-III are a must for you. Matt is a generational talent. Probably one of our greatest ever songwriters, ahead of even his own musical abilities.
One of my favourite bands and they put on an amazing live show!
Hello. You have to listen to that entire CD, it will leave you with your mouth open.
Yessssss!
I've always found Muse's The Resistance album to remind me of Queen a bit. More of a big spectacle with rock/piano vibes, instead of the more full on rock/metal side Muse were known for early on.
Loved your reaction ! I will gladly join you in your adventure going down this Muse rabbit hole ! Especially live because thats where they do what they do best. Looking forward to more !
I read that Bellamy wrote this for his fiancee at the time, which makes the inclusion of the aria that much more beautiful to me. I imagine him touring the world and yearning to be with her. That yearning feels so strong in both parts. You don't feel emotions like that in many songs these days.
Thank you so much for this review! I listened to this lp for about a year straight on repeat just trying to understand it when it came out. Phenomenal record.
There’s a version of the song Micro Cuts on the HAARP live album/DVD that I highly recommend. Also, Falling Down off of the Showbiz lp is a vocal masterpiece for the pain and struggle you hear in Matt’s voice, not live though. It’s not necessarily virtuosic in any way, just beautifully gut wrenching.
You made a lot of people very happy with this video.
I'm already a fan of your videos but this analysis was so lovely, as well as your smile ! 🙈
And with this album you couldn't be more right about the hommage to romanticism.
Don't hesitate to do more on Muse, you'll like Exogenesis from this album, also lives at Wembley or Rome
They have lots of great songs. I would agree with a bunch of people about watching them live. One of my favorites is Madness live in Rome. The crowd is amazing.
That concert was truly off the chart!
Loved your reaction to this fascinating song, Bethany. Muse's musicianship is always second to none, but they are truly special when they perform live - undoubtedly one of the greatest live bands of all time. I saw them play at Wembley in 2007 and they were incredible. You must watch "Butterflies and Hurricanes" from one of those Wembley concerts to see the musical genius of Matt Bellamy in full flow.
Was hoping this was exogenesis symphony part 1. That shit is magic...bliss. Sohyang fan here.
Matt Bellamy's vocals are spellbinding. I highly recommend Muse's Live at Wembley 2007 performances of 'New Born' and 'Knights of Cydonia' next. I know you will enjoy them!
You should definitely react to Butterflies and Hurricanes. You will def love the solo in middle section. In fact, listen to the live version. See him play his instrument. Quite a number of their songs are inspired by classical symphonies.
I remember the first time listening to this album, I was obsessed. Because, the sounds that presented are very different and beautiful. It's kind of sound that you didn't expect coming from a generally Rock group. Quite similar to what Radiohead present in "Kid A" album. You didn't expect it, so different, but you'll love it.
Amazing band, try checking out some of their live performances. One of the best live bands of all time. Well worth a much deeper dive into their music.
Yeah, INCREDIBLE. Matt Bellamy is classically trained pianist, and is so insanely talented.
Yay! So happy to see you react to Muse... I've been a fan since 2001 and have wanted to see your reaction ever since I found your channel last year.
I would not have picked this song for you to review, but honestly, I'm so glad that you discovered them the way you did and found something that was special to you in their music.. and it is such a beautiful song. Matt Bellamy is so talented and they really are a genre defying band. Hopefully this is not the last we see of Muse on your channel.
There are a lot of classical and operatic elements to MUSE and I highly recommend you check out more of their stuff. They are an incredibly talented band!!
Matt also wrote a three part symphony on this same album called exogenesis symphony. You should definitely react to that. You would definitely appreciate it
Only a few bands can match Muse's sense of drama. Queen is one obvious example. Radiohead is another. But like all great bands, they create their own genre.
Exogenesis is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh, and the live recommendation: Muse - Knights Of Cydonia: Live At Wembley Stadium 2007 (From the Official MUSE Channel) - one of the craziest, wonderful songs - usually the encore.
Loved your reaction ❤ Muse is also a great live band. I've seen them 7 times and they never disappoint 🙂. And I love the original aria too. I've got goosebumps listening too it. Music is the most beautiful "thing" in this world ❤
Muse are the masters at honoring Classic music an incorporating it to their own style and music, I hope you dive in more, in your case I'd stick to studio versions...Don't get me wrong they're better live but for us fans who enjoy their rock live sound but studio versions are what the original song is intended to sound and is great too.
Edit: Matt's mom is an opera singer if I'm not mistaken, so he is very acquainted with Opera and classical music.
Micro cuts (live) is a must.
Thank you so very much for introducing me to Muse I didn't know them before and once again you have helped me to love music more and more everyday I understanding it deeper may God bless you and keep you and may you just carry on looking forward to your next one
They have meny classical inspired song including but not limited to; Exogenesis Symphony. United States of Eurasia. Space Dementia. Butterflies and Hurricanes. Blackout and drones. But even their heavier songs like Stockholm syndrome, Citizen Erased and kill or be killed have great vocal performance that i think you would enjoy.
You should watch Muse making of The Resistance and The 2nd Law album.. It's so captivating to watch this trio makes music all by themselves.. They've been together from high school and known as Rocket Baby Doll before they changed it to Muse, they only synchronised with each others and if one of them are sick they will cancel or postpone their concert
Happy to join you in exploring the music of Muse. My introduction to their sound was through the oft-stated admiration of Muse by the ladies of The Warning. Lots I haven’t heard yet, keep going.
one of the greatest bands of all time!
Great analysis. Muse has a huge catalogue to choose from. I hope to see you do more!
The “making of” this album (The Resistance) truly shows their brilliance. I’d highly recommend it.
😍😍😍Fantastic song, amazing album (every song)! Thank you! 🙂
Oh, how brilliant you found Muse through this song. Your life will be happier from now on ... they have nine studio albums now and you got a song from their fifth one, The Resistance. I'd recommend you to just listen to this masterpiece of an album as a whole. It has a whole three-piece symphony on it, and I think it has the most references to classical music. Matthew Bellamy, the singer, is also the songwriter, pianist and guitarist. The bassist, Chris Wolstenholme, and the drummer, Dominic Howard, are outstanding musicians, too. They've been making me happy ever since I heard them for the first time 22/23 years ago. (The song was called Unintended, also just ❤❤❤)
They do various styles of music, each album has a slightly or very different sound from the others. Hope you're gonna love them!
Matt Bellamy is a genius.
He wrote (almost) all of the Muse songs and is a real music nerd 🤓
Listen to Exogenesis Symphony, please
I agree. Incorporate and refashion pieces of old operas that we modern pop folk would likely never hear. Muse got deep talent.
I think you'd absolutely looove their first live performance of "Madness" in Stockholm. New subscriber here, I love your analyses and reactions!
I’ve seen Muse live 11 times since 2009. It’s a joy to see you discovering it now, and watching you react the same way I did the first time I watched/heard them. I believe the Live at Wembley (on film) was the first time I experienced them. Matt Bellamy is an incredible musician, and I hope you enjoy finding more and more to love about their music. ❤
Been listening to them for 20 years already, I have different favorite bands early on, but Muse is one of my favorites currently.
The best Rock Band for the past 20 years, at least for their live performance alone. Been to their concert for the 1st time last year. Electrifying & stadium rocking!
You need to go to one!
You’re missing a trick by not listening in stereo using only one earphone - the mix is excellent (same with other tracks you might react to).
Album versions of great bands usually offer some amazing spacial sound features!
Keep up the good work anyhow, your content is great.
I absolutely love this song
There is plenty of Muse you would enjoy whether you choose to react to it or not. Muse are an incredible band, in particular live. As for Matt, I assume he is an alien! Here is one of many I'm sure people will suggest. Butterflies and Hurricanes [Live From Wembley Stadium] ua-cam.com/video/YDsLKEado_o/v-deo.html
By a mile their favourite album of mine. And i like most of them (except the last one...)
For the classical or progressive side to Muse I'd recommend Citizen Erased, Space Dementia, Megalomania, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Apocalypse Please, Blackout, Take a Bow, Knights of Cydonia, Exogenesis Symphony Parts 1-3, Survival, The Globalist, Algorithm, The Void, Verona.
I trully recommend their song "Butterflies and Huricanes" from Live Wembley album. Just do it!
So much good music by Muse. Matt's voice is stellar.
Beautiful and educational
someone that i love never said that she loved me too. but she presents me with this music and others as das beste by silbermond. this is enought to me.
Bethany, Kindly pay attention when you are driving. You almost ran me over.🤣
I love muse. Been listening for 15 years. He has a lovely voice. Listen to dig down, it’s a newer song.
Actually, the next 3 songs after this on the album should be a must listen for you with your background.
Exogenesis Parts I, II, and III.
I've seen this performed live. It's pretty epic 😁
Love the analysis. Most will go with popular or obvious songs in the comments but vocally interesting I would like to see you react to Sing for Absolution (studio for the last chorus), Big Freeze or Invincible.
I have one problem with this reaction/analysis, and that is, I can't like it more than once. Loved it beginning to end!
Can I suggest you watching the "making of" of the track? (just for yourself, it's quite fun 😊)
ua-cam.com/video/yr9U0sWboAA/v-deo.htmlsi=YRrmlPTn91AnbZYD
You can actually see Matt playing the piano for the middle section, corresponding to the aria, and hear him say where it comes from, including him saying it's an opera "by a French dude" (obviously referring to Saint-Saëns).
Once again, thanks for this reaction!
Obrigado. Você é Linda Como a Opera e Vibrante como o Muse.
I would love you to review "All I wanted was you" by Paramore. I was a casual fan but when I heard Hailey Williams sing the high notes with so much power and emotion it sold me on digging into their other material.
Another group to check out and a band that actually opened for Muse a few times is a British band called "Nothing but Thieves". Connor Mason (lead singer) draws a lot of his sound and vocal range from Matt Bellamy imo
ལེགས།❤❤❤
Would love to see you break down the Exogenesis Symphony from the same album. You should be able to find a video that combines all 3 parts into one.
I feel you would love Verona by muse .my take away from it was the story of romeo and juliet under the context of living under lockdown and the forbidden love wear by people were unable to see loved ones with hints of 1984 and the forbidden love that the state outlawed. Definately check out a live performace version ..its so deeply moving ❤. Great reaction by the way. Your enjoyment was tangible
you should check out their unintended live performance at wembley!!
Knights of Cydonia live from them is killer
An additional comment to push for great singers not often featured on reactor channels: Robin Zander of Cheap Trick (rock god), Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music, Paul Rodgers of Free/Bad Company and even toured with Queen, Peter murphy of Bauhaus, and Iggy Pop. Iggy in particular has been ignored. He has an amazing prototypical punk voice -- powerful, expressive, sometimes cringe-worthy, and always authentic. David Bowie believed in Iggy so much that he produced him.
These reaction videos are great! I'd love for you to do "King" by Florence + the Machine. The official music video is pure art, and everything about the song - the lyrics, her voice, the theme - goes together soooo, soooo well.
Hi there ✌️😎
Greetings from germany!
I just saw your child in time vid and yes, deep purple is amazing! And your vid was really cool about it!
As a guitar player i know some good rare tracks
you should listen and maybe react to them. 😄😊
Some guitarplayers dont have a beautyful voice and get a little help sometimes. With great results!
A good example for that is jeff beck. Never heard him singing but oh my god his guitar does!
You will see in my choises there are allways great guitars within 😅😅
Ok lets start with some ideas!
I bet you know 'pink floyd - a great gig in the sky"
That track ist the absolute masterclass of voice.
Not a single word in it, just used as a clean instrument. incredible voice job!
I reccoment the version of 1994 earls court london.
And maybe you know joss stone.
But i think her best moments was at
"jeff beck live at ronnie scotts" for example the classic "i put a spell on you" and the studio album track "theres no othe me".
Her voice explodes on that traxks! Really amazing!
And as a third track a little hidden voice that maybe
not much peaple know.
But "imelda may" ist absolute outstanding with her
Bluesy jazzy voice. Please try her track feat jeff beck "remember me" oh god that voice is so impressive!
Ok 😄😊 hope you recognize this comment and maybe you know or like the songs i named.
Have fun and maybe see your react to these great songs! ✌️😎
Oh.. and if you are allready on the "live at ronnie scotts" vid, what do you say to "imogen heap - blanket" version with jeff beck?😄
Hello I’ve seen some of your videos as of late and wanted to recommend watching Crush’s song “None” he did a colors live performance which I think is a lot better but I don’t think it has the subtitles but the mv does.
Dear Bethany. I saw your videos for the first time only today and I am sure that you are not only a beautiful girl but also a good coach. But after watching the playlist on your channel I didn't see one great artist there. (I'm sorry for the mistakes, it's not my native language) Please make an analysis of Polina Gagarina - Raindrops & Lullaby or Polina Gagarina - Kukushka (it is from the song contest from China) It won't go away without tears but I'm sure you'll like it.
Hello. I recommend "Adiós" by Diana Navarro. It's like an angel singing.
I would love to hear your response to In Flames "Paralyzed".
More Muse songs please!
For sure we need more of Muse, I suggest you to check Showbiz album.
Uff exogenesis....hello from México
I would love for you to react to Muse live!
Muse can perform some great stadium Rock !
You should really check out Alter Bridge with Parallax Orchestra Live @Royal Albert Hall. Words Darker than their Wings especially for Myles Kennedy's sustained high note at the end.
Could I recommend the album Paranoid and Sunburnt by Skunk Anansie.
Your choice as to which you analyse. I'd just like to help spread her talents to another generation lol.
South London band from the mid nineties, rock/punk if I had to pigeonhole them, but their singer, Skin, is phenomenal in range both in terms of vocal sound and range, but also diversity of style and command of her instrument (her voice). She can go from light and breathy to full on 100% aggression in an instant, and the band is a tight unified unit. I recommend the album rather than a specific track, because some tracks are more evocative than others, but they're not necessarily the same tracks that showcase her talent to the maximum.
Weak, Intellectualise my blackness, 100 ways to be a good girl, Little baby swastika and All in the name of pity, are probably the five that showcase her vocals best.
You really need to react to their song Bliss, the Live version Mayan 2015.
Oi meu amor bom dia ou boa tarde belíssima música amei❤
Check out Muse muscle museum 10:30 slot.. I saw it in the day of its release it blew me away from that point on I knew one day they would be the one biggest groups in the world.
You should review Butterflies and Hurricanes.
Please consider reviewing "I just can't cry anymore" by Kansas... you won't regret hearing Steve Walsh on this one. It's incredible.
But seriously wether you react to it or not, put some headphones on, close your eyes and listen through Exogenesis Symphony part 1 Overture straight through. You will float away. Might record it just in case and then add comments mixed into edits. Think Fairy Voice Mother does them that way. But I kinda can't imagine stopping that one on your first time through. Wouldn't feel right at all lol. It's an experience.
Please do reaction for United States of Eurasia from the same album, it's soo gorgeous song and melody!
sing for absolution!
Please react to Charles Bradley! I bet you will cry, one of the best soul voices I've ever heard
Thank you for this video! Muse is such an excellent band! As you said, in Muse songs, you can find different genres mixed together to create a new musical identity, while respecting the original genres (sorry for my poor english, i hope you can understand). Yes, Matt is a wonderful artist, and he plays the piano himself (not the best sound here but you can see him playing : ua-cam.com/video/jDF4jvftI_w/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared). As someone else already said, I think you would appreciate this too : ua-cam.com/video/KNJYBOj7Cfc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared (just perfect to me). And Butterflies and Hurricanes, Space Dementia, Sing for absolution, Exogenesis (3 parts),.... You can even find Chopin's "Ocean" in Blockades in a totally different style! (ua-cam.com/video/8muGWOjNoSo/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared). OK, I have to stop! Have a nice day!
