The accordion door idea is one of the best I've seen in years along with other easy places to hide wiring etc. Nicely done

This layout is great. So much nicer than anything we ever had. I guess I will go ahead and tell you when I was a kid in 1970 " my age" o well. Anyhow on the weekends me my bro and my dad would go to Everett where dad worked and help Martha with her camper trailer business doing repairs and at the same time fixing an 8 foot truck bed camper. It was a great experience going on Saturdays and getting to know Martha and her son Greg. What brought these memories back the most was metal curtain clips on a metal rod, and the curtains being burnt orange i and semi transparent in our Reno. Ultimately it was the tinking sound from bumping curtains that drove us kids into tents.

    Nice!
I have watched 100s of cargo conversion videos and this one was the most valuable so far. I don't always agree with your assessment, but I definitely appreciate where you are coming from. The largest difference is that I plan to live in mine (still in the design phase).
Excited to see the rest of your videos! :-)

You'll never see 90% of the lack of fitment unless you pointed it out .I think it looks great except for the imperfections that you adequately pointed out which I wouldn't have noticed otherwise . Great Job

Thank you for the detailed video on both how you picked and built your great conversion! It is a wealth of information and what I love most about the UA-cam community. We just moved to Baja Mexico on the Sea of Cortez and I am looking to build a cargo office and spare bedroom. The bedroom part will be pullout queen and the desk with retract to be flush with the wall.

Love this build, you were so right to convert a trailer we bought new caravan, 3 yrs in and roof and walls were wet, so much effort to fix the problem, we fixed it then sold it and converted a 36'6" bus to an RV much better, we were able to put in it what we wanted where we wanted it, this actually became our home for 18 months while our house was being built, so much fun,
anyway stunning build, nice use of space and well explained thanks for shareing.

    • @stevenreynolds2580
      @stevenreynolds2580 6 років тому

You are right, I live in an area where they manufacture RV's and Caravans, they are made quickly and methodically but not to a high quality, they do look lovely when finished, but they are not made with the same robust materials that we would use ourselves, so they start to develop faults straight from the factory,
I have seen RV's that have been returned as many as 11 times in a single year,
Converting a Bus or Coach, is by far the best option, and you build the quality you expect giving you the quality build that we all desire, I wish you luck, and lots of fun.

Good Job on a good trailer. I like your Roof AC unit. I don't like tacky window units on a travel trailer. Also like the well planned wood work on the walls and ceiling. Cabinets are well built. And the layout is good. Also I am glad you didn't get a v shaped front on the trailer. Gives more room for Gas tanks for your stove and heat. Well done!

Sharp looking on the outside ... white is a color that always looks good ... you barely see any scratches and looks good even dirty... I think you could put an awning on it would be a nice addition plus you could put a toolbox on the tongue for additional storage ...but that sits pretty!!!
Interior is fantastic... I’m thinking that you maybe a perfectionist cause of some of your comments... but she is a beauty inside as well ... You should be damn proud of yourself I really like the layout absolutely excellent way to have shower and bathroom set up ... I am starting to get an itch to do this ... I wished you would elaborate on the cost...

Your Carpenter looks fine, what you need is a tube of painters caulk. The other thing is Bondo makes a good wood filler. Remember that “puddy and paint makes a carpenter what he ain’t “ and final words of wisdom “a good finish carpenter always has a tube of Dap”. Nice build btw.

NEVER PULL A BOX TRAILER WITHOUT A SWAY BAR.... i just rolled my truck and trailer due to a high wind gust compounded by black ice. Almost lost my wife and kids. I've been towing for years. I know not to panic brake but it doesn't take much before its just beyond control. Never thought i needed a sway bar for a little 7x14 TA.
I didn't have one. I'll never do that again.
This advise may just save your life.
PS. Nice trailer. I'd like to show you my new one when i get her done. Everyone was jealous of my old one.

you did a great job. You saying the curve roof is a pain to finish I would consider framing it strait on the inside. That could allow for extra inso or a space to run wire. I bet you improved your building skills by the time you were finished. It takes balls to jump into a project like that if you begin it without being a seasoned carpenter.I respect that

I had a black navigator and matching black 6x12 trailer when I lived in OH. It was great. But I moved to South Florida and very quickly realized black in Florida is a VERY BAD IDEA! There can be up to a 30-40 degree difference between white and black! So my next truck, I got a white Yukon XL and I’m planning on getting a white trailer to convert into a toy hauler. I travel all over the Southeast installing gym floors so I need a garage section to haul my tools, and I’m a big guy so I need a big shower. So I plan on building my own.
