One of the best DYI I've seen especially for an over engineered German pia design!

Outstanding video. I followed it and was able to replace my broken door lock actuator. It’s worth mentioning that those clips holding the harness in place break during removal, also one or two of the clips holding the door panel broke. And I have those trim removal tools. And the T20 tool needs to be long enough, I had to go get one during the disassemble process. Other than that, extremely helpful video, kudos to people like you!

I have done a couple of these and am about to start another right now. BE careful with that little silver set screw on the door handle carrier! I tightened one down to much and it broke the plastic door handle carrier. Just tighten until snug. Once it twisted off there was no going back with the replacement part! Great video and instruction Brian.

Super thorough and well edited tutorial. Straight to the point without over complicating things.
    Thanks!

Great video...all the steps, moving at a good pace without too much editorializing. This made it easy, and it was good to learn that I wouldn't need to drill out and then replace the rivets like on some other door panels/window regulator systems. Did this on a 2006 Mercedes ML500 (w164) to replace the door lock actuator with a new (non-mercedes) ~$80 part. This is the NOT keyless-go version.

Really appreciate this video buddy, many thanks! Unfortunately the spring was fine in mine, so I had to do the job again with a new actuator, but that worked perfect. I wouldn't have been able to do it without your help.
I did seem to struggle with the 3 black clips holding the actuator to the door skin. I had to put a trim tool in behind to pull it off, and then in order to put the new one on, I used a socket on one side, and a hammer on the other, to get the black clips to push in. Hard to explain with writing, but I got there in the end. Cheers mate!

Outstanding vid, worked a treat for me, I really am impressed by both the vid and myself👍 fir attempting the job .
One door down 3 to go , already save a small fortune, my issue was the very cheap actuator spring around £2.50 each here in the UK and your vid was soooo helpful I now have the courage to do the other 3, thanks again you’re a diamond , Best G.

There is an important and tricky step of removing the door handle, and subsequently how to pull the whole metal cover out of the door with door lock and actuator assembly with it. It's not shown in this video.

Thx for the really clear video. I've refitted my replacement part and offered it up with all the cables connected yet I'm getting no response from the lock attuator. I didn't plug in the crash sensor.
    Any advice really welcome.

@@HowtoAutomotive Thank you. Both left and right front doors bounce when I press the key remote and they never lock. The driver's door doesn't even move when I press the remote. I'm trying to figure out if I need to buy the actuator for just the driver's side, or also the ones not moving when I hit the remote. Hope I'm not bothering you.

Do you have any experience with a 2004 MB ML350. My computer went out and the dealer kept it for six weeks and said the AAM can't be ordered from Germany (Obsolete). It has good engine and tranny with new tires, interior is clean. Is there any hope from any where, dealer won't try any used parts. It was suggested to find all like new computers from another vehicle that was working and replace all 4-5 computers. (VIN and Keys also need to be factored in.) Is that even possible?
