- In this video I play the IS-6 in War Thunder for the first time. I decide to see how many kills I can get in just 6 games!
The IS-6 in War Thunder is a Russian Heavy Tank that was infamously powerful years ago when it was first added. In update Direct Hit, the IS-6's BR was lowered to 7.0 meaning it can fight vehicles such as the T20 and Sherman Jumbo!
Since I'd never played the IS-6, I thought it would be pretty cool to see if I could pull of a high kill to death ratio... and well... just you wait and see! :)

The IS-6 is one of the best things in the Russian tech tree. And your a good player. It's less a surprise than an expectation you'd roflstomp with it.

No matter how good the tank I'll never have a higher k/d than 2 for 1 despite having over 3k hours in game I'm rather jealous of how consistent you are lol. Great video as usual

I hear spookston saying, "I consider a tank good if any average person can get a 3:1 KD ratio in it."
And found out I only have maybe 2 tanks with a KD better than 2:1
guess no tank is good for me lol
I just looked and my highest k/d is in the jagged panther with 30 kills to like 8 deaths. I have like 3 or 4 other vehicals with over a 2:1 k/d and I don’t have more than 25 battles in any of them.
But do you have the feeling that when on a tank doing good and get many kills, start to become boring and move to others??

i love seeing heavy armour and aphe rounds vs heavy armour and aphe, seems less complicated and yet more nuanced and tactical than heat fs and apds vs paper thin steel.
This tank always scares me when I face it, I never seem to be able to pen it. Great vid odd! Hope you are doing well!

Great video! I like this format as well. The more I watch the more I realize you have quite a few different flavors and many variations.
I can't help but think of OrangeFan's videos with his first 10 series, showing the spading process, but yeah it does take a long time, hard to get through, if not really curious about the tank, whereas these smaller ones make the lack of interest more encouraging to watch. imo ofc.
This tank looks awesome, not sure about that tier's meta. Might consider when it is 50% off or better, looks solid and that reload is managable, until you miss because of volumetric lol.

IS-6 was (is) my most favored tank on WOT, even got my heavy mission 15 (the 1st ever mission questlines, way back)

Glad to see you play it Odd! I’ve logged about half my war thunder hours on that machine and I love it, the only downside is that to “even it out” they put it against 70s stuff. Cool they dropped the BR tho

I love heavy tanks and for sure this used to be the best heavy tank in the game back in the day. First tank I bought and learnt to play in, great great times. Once they fixed the armour, raised it's br and added all the heat boyz tho it was pretty sad to play. Glad to see that it is a power on the battlefield again at 7.0, but the reload and gun depression can be pretty frustrating. The US T29 is actually still a better heavy tank at 7.0 imo due to it's survivability when penned, plus better reload and gun depression + 50 cals. But IS-6 is back in the top 5 heavy tanks in game for me... even tho the ZSU57 is a far better choice to use for Russia at 7.0! xD

the T29 unlike the IS-6 is over-br'd though. The IS-6 is practically unstoppable unless you have HEAT. Its direct counter the T114 has been moved up from 6.7 to 7.3 for some god forsaken reason too.

Bought this on a whim around Christmas and it’s the most fun I’ve had in WT in a long time. The sheer amount of people you can bait to shoot you is unreal (it faces Germany so no surprise there)
The IS-6 was one of the best thing I bought in WT, I went from the T-35-85 and IS-2 to the IS-4 in less than a month. Also get a talisman for the IS-3 for that line up with the T-44-100 and BMP-1. Hands down one of the strongest line ups I have played)

You should play the super conqueror. Definitely one of the last good heavy tanks.
IS 6 is a pain to deal with for most countries at 7.0 but you make it look terrifying. If I hadn't already learned how to kill them I would be very upset right now. I do believe you just destroyed the whole "heavy tanks are bad in a uptier' Line that some people like repeating.

15:24 I've noticed when shooting top down with planes. All my rounds(at least the tracers) hit the turret, but in the preview they all hit the engine. It always felt like they hit lower than where they look like they hit.

i really appreciate this style of vide though, i asked you if you could do a spadding video on one of your vids but this is really nice and probably much easier for you and potentionaly shorter than spading a tank! Thankyou so much i really enjoyed this :).
My only experieces with the IS-6 so far is to be vaporized by one in a full uptier while trying to spade my Centurion Mk 1

IS is probably my favorite tank family of all time. They're just so cool. The only cons are the reload speed and gun depression I think.

IS-6 used to be the quintessential example of Russian Bias. Didn't it come out at 6.7 or something initially? Wasn't it the reason the M46 got its first HEAT round too? Jesus this thing used to auto-win games all by itself.

7.0 means it won't have to deal with helicopters its literally still fighting the exact same thing.

in my experience the IS-6 has actually been worse at 7.0 than 7.3 as 7.0 is more prone to uptiers than 7.3 is.

I've seen this thing destroyed by oxy from the front using a jumbo 76.. he took out the gun then the tracks then hit the cupola, he made it look that easy.. the only thing I can pen this with is a HEAT FS.. whenever I see this thing and I don't have that round, I just backtrack and go the other way..

I played today (after this video came out) and there were so many IS6s running around, might be coincidence or maybe I noticed them more but there were a lot more then normal.

this was my first premium, and the choice was this or the t10M, in the end im really happy with it although id does suffer a good bit in uptiers. since im not as good of a player as oddbawz xD

its almost as if sometimes odd has a biased angel over him, idk how he does it
completely honest i would much rather face a Maus at 7.0 than one of these and that is entirely because this thing is a volumetric wet dream

yesterday i flick shot twice in a row two IS-2 with a tiger h1 and both of them where one shots.
The tonk is perfectly balanced when it gaijins unreal incoming enemy shots but can't lower gun enough on level ground
it was even 300mm in the mantlet and absolutely stupid op

Meanwhile the T32 and T32E1 is stuck at higher BR... 7.3-7.7. Because it's super fun using a heavy tank with slow reload vs small light tanks with heatfs, apfsds and atgms...
