hey oddbawz i was wondering if you were aware about the modification research bug in air RB that has been around for 2+years and goes something like this. join a game and leave before the match ends. You then start another match, which ends BEFORE match 1 ends, and you successfully research the module "new enginge". You can then select a new module to research. Now however, match 1 STILL contributes ONLY to the already researched module "new engine", effectively giving you 0 XP, as the progress is NOT transferred to the newly selected module.
12th time asking you to play 8.7 Sweden, the gist of it is that you get constant downtiers to 7.7, you face German teammates more often than not, and you will see a lot of king tigers. Also include the Saab 105 g. It’s stupidly op with a full bomb load. T55M, strv103c, strv104, ikv-91-105, veak40, and rush with the itpsv90. IT IS STUPID FUN.🤩
It's an absolute shitfest, so I don't blame him. I've got some 11.7 tanks, but haven't touched anything above 8.7 for more than a year now. It's just not enjoyable at all
I reached top tier with Russia and Germany simultaneously during the winter event and I´m loving it and by far the best thing about it is not facing those CV90105 premium plebs any longer. I´d much rather get bombed by Gripens who didn´t just buy their ticket into top tier.

Meanwhile most if not all of the T-80s have inbuilt spall liners called "bullshit coded side armor". It's astonishing how much shrapnel those fuel tanks and the void eat.
Yeah, makes you wonder why, instead of composite armour, they didn't use fuel tanks all around. The tank would be indestructible. Every shot would just disappear as if swallowed by a black hole.
The tank that actually brought top tier to its knees is the Str 122+ and Leopard2A7. Seriously it is crazy how strong Germany and Sweden are now, a team with Germany and Sweden on the same side is has almost 90% chance to win, even more so if the other side has US.
Dude yes. The fact that side shots sometimes only kill 1 crew member or even sometimes ZERO damage is unplayable. STRV and 2A7V take anywhere from 2-5 shots to fully kill with pixel sized 1 shot kill shot areas from the front. Spall liners NEED to be removed from all or added to all 11.7 tanks to slow down the gameplay or balance it out. It's ridiculous.
Seems like most US teams have genuinely decent players on them at super top tier if it’s not premiums. Just the Abram’s falls way behind on protection compared to the Leo’s/strv/bvm t90m. You cannot take a hit in Abram’s like you can in those tanks.
@@Honoer agreed. It's almost like they need to remove spall liners for all tanks to balance it out. That, or add spall liners in for all top tier tanks to slow the gameplay down. They clearly don't care about accuracy of tanks cause the Chinese tree and French tree are sooo underpowered for what they should be.
And yet, german mains will endlessly cry about the so called "russian bias" and "chinese bias" while driving the best damn tank in the whole game. I would challenge them to try the Soviet tanks a bit and see them swear about the horrible gun depression, the slow reload and the turtle level reverse speed that we have to deal with during the whole tree. In addition, everything after the T-34 has slow turrets and slow up and down gun movement. Russian bias has just been a meme or a coping mechanism for quite a while now.
The 2 things that hurt the T-90M are its reverse speed but also it’s reload, especially with the Abrams getting a reload buff the T-90 M has quite a poor reload overall
True. If it were a T-80 variant it wouldn't be that bad, but because it's a slightly better T-72B3M it keeps the 22 round autoloader and 7-ish second reload instead of the 6-ish on T-80 tanks.
@@YoBuddy_Still_Alive those .6 seconds in-between the T-80 and the T-90 reload is the difference on being able to out reload a Leo 2 and getting killed by it. I, for one, just got used to the atrocious reverse. 9 out of 10 times reverse speed ain't gonna save you in top tier if you make a mistake anyways.
The metal around the 50 is because the 50 is now remote controlled from inside the tank. Not that it matters for war thunder logic cause they are magically remote controlled anyways without a crew member exposed

@@Frankovelli low teir is absolutley easy, been playing low tier the past couple days because of it being so much less stressful… going from 10.0+ to 8.0 and under… the game is no where close as rough. Have players that drive right by me in plain day light, you start at low br and work your way up for a reason
Here's some ideas for more SPAA's for the US tree: T100 MGMC, T85 MGMC, T69 MGMC, T77 MGMC, T52 MGMC, and an M24 chassis with a 75 mm T22 gun which had a 45 RPM count and a proxy fuse HE shell.
Dearest Mr Oddbawz, i would appreciate if you would ever so kindly play the low tier t-80 that sits at 2.3, it has has a sloped 35mm front plate that bounces a lot of shells, it has the russian 45mm cannon and has the ability to scout, it unfortunately very bouncey when it comes to suspension and coming to full stops however i believe the previous statements negate that. Would you revisit the Strv 122 (specifically the B+)? Better yet I would recommend playing the CV90120 its a personal fav of mine unlike other top tier tanks it requires skill. Edit: Another suggestion would also be either the Type 90 or TKX (p), 11.0 Japan is just constant downtiers in the current meta.

Gaijin thinks that the wait time would be too long. I would happily wait longer for a match if this was the case. Even .7 each way would be better. Most changes impact a tank moving up, but rarely does a vehicle get moved back down. In 3 years the T20 and Jumbo will be 8.3.

As A abrams owner along with russian german tech tree idc anymore on this game but getting some kills and listening to music with my tanks driving plus i have more fun on custom battles such as desert storm maps or ww2 battles it gives me a break from realistic battles all the time no joy as much.
the MG turret can be manned from the inside of the tank, thats why they have that thing on the outside, its for the auto loading, and actuators for traverse
Wouldn't mind if at some point spall liners were removed, I'm very used to them now and don't have a problem with but at the same time it wasn't a necessary feature, especially since many MBTs still don't have theirs.
Honestly, I may be alone on this but I think that the issue with Russian mbs’s is how Russia actually uses them in combat scenarios and the corruption and insufficient training inside their military that alter their combat effectiveness not the general design of their vehicles.

yeah, I was gonna say this. Apparently, it's news to people that tanks aren't invincible. Literally anything can be destroyed by almost anything else with a lucky shot or just the right circumstances. and don't get me wrong, I don't think the T90 is a great tank. But tactics and logistics are almost always the deciding thing on what makes a tank survive or not. Same as WT applies in real life: The best armor is just not getting hit in the first place.
@@gaiofattos2 The point isn't that the BMP-2 is even really objectively better than a Bradley. It's that there's really no reason it couldn't - in theory -, do the same to an Abrams. And I say in theory, because on paper, there's really no reason a Bradley should've been able to destroy a T90, either. And the same thing has happened with a lot of vehicles, albeit rarely. Essentially, it's like saying Batman can beat anyone with prep time. In theory, sure. But in practise, pretty much any tank can be destroyed just given bad enough circumstances, or the right things being in the right place at the right time. Hence logistics and tactics.
@@foxxowoxxowillow7855 The thing is, bmp-2 vs Abrams is a whole different thing. Even if 2 bmp catch the Abrams like the Bradles did to he the t-90m. The Abrams can always hit reverse gear and get out of the ambush. While i know that "many thing" can beat a Tank, its important to see how pathetic was the whole bradley vs t-90m thing was, they didn't have tow missiles or even apds to fire at the T-90m and they manage to get a mission kill on it.
@@Shiraumereit really is fast, but just like your daily car you use everyday, maxing out your top speed really isn’t a thing you should do. It screws with the transmission over time, making it weaker and weaker. Kinda like how tank barrels need to be replaced over short periods of time when being constantly fired

I mean Sweden's pretty fun I find from like 6.0 up. Pretty fun line ups. I like my 10.0 line up, the 9040s are stupid fun and the 9040 BILL has a deceptively good top/down ATGM. Like way better the TOW2B on American and german

That Machine Gun looks like that because it has a mechanically operated servo. Which allows the commander to shoot soft targets himself while being fully protected inside the tank. Nobody has the budget to put cosmetics on a tank.
The T-90M is using a prettied up T-72 hull, Russia was trying to replace theT-72 but it was still cheaper to use the hull so they just made a new turret and called it the T-90
Its a T-72B Hull that while not near as good was meant to be close to the T-80 hull who was URSS equal to the M1 abrams, T-90M might got even better hull armor and reactive than T-90A.
Hey oddbawz got a video idea for you as a former French main and current Israeli maine. Id like to see you give both countries some love. for the French take out the AMX 40 at 9.7 I had to say this is my absolute favorite tank in the game 120 mm gun 20 mm coax that has saved my life multiple times, it’s fast, the armor isn’t all there but for its br that it’s at I don’t think armor really matters that much anyway I’ve gotten five nukes while playing this game. Two of those nukes have been with this tank. I hope you have fun with it. For the Israelis takeout either the gal Batash or the merkava mark 2B both of these things are really good and I honestly could not decide between the two these two tanks are tied for my second favorite in the game. For the Israeli tanks, all I can say is that they’re quite similar to British vehicles in the sense that they might not be the fastest or the most well armored, but they do pack a serious punch.
I love the t90m with the double spall liner. the first shot is stopped by an era and the second shot is stopped by a spall liner. a third shot maybe make the magazine to explode :D
Controversial take, but spall liners were a rly bad idea lol Only added to some of the end of the line tanks, some of which did not need them at all (cough cough leo 2a5/6 and their variants cough) and they only make the game more frustrating to play.
Nah the tanks that didnt need it were the Russian tanks. They already had an artificial spall liner, now they are even worse to fight against. Leopards were easy enough to kill, spall was never really an issue
The problem isnt that they exist its that it just adds another layer of RNG to gaijins broken damage models when the games become so overloaded with issues from volumetric armour, bugs, ghost shells and sneaky armour modifiers that reduce spalling anyway
It was just damaged but not destroyed. Also crew survived and there was malfunction in turret's rotating mechanism. Also that bradley was prob destroyed later.
One of the drawbacks to Top Tier is that there are no (or very few, not enough) large maps like 5+ km size maps. The main issue is that these tanks, IRL, are meant to be used at longer ranges (like 2-3 kms) for delivering shots and better survivability. The squares need to be like 0.75 - 1 km each, and yes while that will make for longer times to get to positions, it would make it more realistic in terms of how tanks are really to be used in modern warfare and less short-range or urban warefare (although there still needs to be this in rotation). Additionally, the optics need to be more realistic, where some of these tanks and shots in general, wouldn't be such "lasers". How often would breaches and guns take damage or be taken out IRL? Too often tanks seem to have way to strong of an ability to locate an enemy and fire a round into small areas like a driver port, when in reality it would rarely happen - or at least not that frequently. Now I know the goal of the game is to drive money and make gameplay "balanced" but more often than not, it feels like the outcome is decided before the game even starts. How oftern is the experience where you play one nation or another, and shoot against someone with little to no effect in one game? Then use the same vehichle in another game and completely roll over similar or same tanks?

Because okay, both teams start with 18000 tickets and lose tickets if points are captured by enemy, or your teammates are dying, but... how much we lose if for example the map is 3 capture points and all points are the enemies? What if they capture 1 point or 2? how does this work? If I cap a point, do the enemy instantly lose some tickets? every minute you lose a amount of points? (tickets/minute lost would be the right formula?) and how much tickets you lose for a light tank, or a heavy? the same? I think if you see this, this could be even a great youtube video, because I haven't found any good explanations on this topic, and for example me, who would try to play the game for winning, I would be interested in some situations, what would be the best for me to do. Disabling the turret ring and optics isn’t something special, lone tanks without a convoy/support vehicle and infantry support are easy targets to pick on

@MichaelDavis-mk4me the turret traverse was jammed but the tank was still operable and could've returned. The comment before is correct, once you get shot in a tank you're essentially panicking for your life with the added benefit of you being blinded. An Abrams would be the same in this position.
@obvioustroll.yetyoustillgo1634 Unlike in War Thunder, a mission kill is a kill. Being disabled is basically being dead : you you become a poor excuse for a bunker, just waiting for artillery and drones to finish the job. It's the same for Leopard 2's running over mines, the tank survives, which is nice for the crew that can escape, but that tank is eating a shell in the next minutes, it's effectively dead.
Hey oddbawz have you noticed how the exp gain as of last couple weeks has been extremely low..my usual low gain was around 8 to 10 now on a good game with 8 kills an a cap or two plus winning with a booster i made 7 thousand exp
@@Rickmanou81293Yes because they are simply wrong, the tank was destroyed right after it got abandoned and well since the crew left the hatches open as they were leaving the enemy forces were able to chunk a grenade in there and destroy it, if there was a friendly convoy nearby that T-90m could have been evacuated right after the fight
Most of the complaints about the T90m having spall liners and how it was going to destroy top tier was from when they first announced it and it was going to be the only tank in the game with them, they only added them to all the nato tanks after everyone complained.
It isn’t, all tanks are useful in combat as both a tool and a moral weapon. The T90M is just more vulnerable to being destroyed and worse at protecting its crew, so it gives less room for error. If you put a T90M in the hands of a competent crew and unit commander the T90M will do well, but Russia doesn’t have much of those
@@avex3903 they are already there, and considering how western tanks have down quite well so far at protecting their crews, they will also likely do decently well in the fighting. They have also shown themselves to be really good irl, this isn’t the first time they been in combat. After the T72’s not good combat record, the M1 abrams has seen the most combat and overall has done extremely well
Avoid FPV’s and being alone would be more realistic since it litteraly took two bradleys just to take out the optics and turret ring forcing the crew out of the tank since they couldn’t perform operations, if the tank wasn’t alone tho it would have been a different story

Wasn't there an order from Stalin that basically said any retreat was to be treated as treason and desertion? If that was signed into law and nobody bothered to repeal it after the fall of the Soviet Union, then the terrible reverse speed might simply be tank manufacturers complying with the law.
Nah it’s doctrine, soviet doctrine was flooding the battlefield with tanks and cheap price, so to make the tanks fast and the gearbox cheap they sacrificed the reverse gears

the fuel tanks are a double edged blade, because even though it can eat up shells, sometimes when they explode the tank dies

I, for one, just got used to the atrocious reverse. 9 out of 10 times reverse speed ain't gonna save you in top tier if you make a mistake anyways.

The metal around the 50 is because the 50 is now remote controlled from inside the tank. Not that it matters for war thunder logic cause they are magically remote controlled anyways without a crew member exposed

Here's some ideas for more SPAA's for the US tree: T100 MGMC, T85 MGMC, T69 MGMC, T77 MGMC, T52 MGMC, and an M24 chassis with a 75 mm T22 gun which had a 45 RPM count and a proxy fuse HE shell.
Chaffee is already an AA in my hands, and the idea of a proxy fuse to go with it…I may need new pants.

Would you revisit the Strv 122 (specifically the B+)? Better yet I would recommend playing the CV90120 its a personal fav of mine unlike other top tier tanks it requires skill.
Edit: Another suggestion would also be either the Type 90 or TKX (p), 11.0 Japan is just constant downtiers in the current meta.
I'm currently spading Japan's 11.0 and I love the 4sec reload, great mobility and constantly being top tier against all premium tank players.

Gaijin thinks that the wait time would be too long. I would happily wait longer for a match if this was the case. Even .7 each way would be better. Most changes impact a tank moving up, but rarely does a vehicle get moved back down. In 3 years the T20 and Jumbo will be 8.3.

Wouldn't mind if at some point spall liners were removed, I'm very used to them now and don't have a problem with but at the same time it wasn't a necessary feature, especially since many MBTs still don't have theirs.

yeah, I was gonna say this. Apparently, it's news to people that tanks aren't invincible. Literally anything can be destroyed by almost anything else with a lucky shot or just the right circumstances.
and don't get me wrong, I don't think the T90 is a great tank. But tactics and logistics are almost always the deciding thing on what makes a tank survive or not. Same as WT applies in real life: The best armor is just not getting hit in the first place.

It's that there's really no reason it couldn't - in theory -, do the same to an Abrams. And I say in theory, because on paper, there's really no reason a Bradley should've been able to destroy a T90, either. And the same thing has happened with a lot of vehicles, albeit rarely.
Essentially, it's like saying Batman can beat anyone with prep time. In theory, sure. But in practise, pretty much any tank can be destroyed just given bad enough circumstances, or the right things being in the right place at the right time. Hence logistics and tactics.

Irl the T-90M is extremely fast and maneuvrable as in game, maybe not exact like it, but is pretty comparable to Abrams execpt for the reverse speed

That Machine Gun looks like that because it has a mechanically operated servo. Which allows the commander to shoot soft targets himself while being fully protected inside the tank. Nobody has the budget to put cosmetics on a tank.
The T-90M is using a prettied up T-72 hull, Russia was trying to replace theT-72 but it was still cheaper to use the hull so they just made a new turret and called it the T-90
Its a T-72B Hull that while not near as good was meant to be close to the T-80 hull who was URSS equal to the M1 abrams, T-90M might got even better hull armor and reactive than T-90A.

Id like to see you give both countries some love. for the French take out the AMX 40 at 9.7 I had to say this is my absolute favorite tank in the game 120 mm gun 20 mm coax that has saved my life multiple times, it’s fast, the armor isn’t all there but for its br that it’s at I don’t think armor really matters that much anyway I’ve gotten five nukes while playing this game. Two of those nukes have been with this tank. I hope you have fun with it. For the Israelis
takeout either the gal Batash or the merkava mark 2B both of these things are really good and I honestly could not decide between the two these two tanks are tied for my second favorite in the game. For the Israeli tanks, all I can say is that they’re quite similar to British vehicles in the sense that they might not be the fastest or the most well armored, but they do pack a serious punch.

Nah the tanks that didnt need it were the Russian tanks. They already had an artificial spall liner, now they are even worse to fight against. Leopards were easy enough to kill, spall was never really an issue

It was just damaged but not destroyed. Also crew survived and there was malfunction in turret's rotating mechanism. Also that bradley was prob destroyed later.

One of the drawbacks to Top Tier is that there are no (or very few, not enough) large maps like 5+ km size maps. The main issue is that these tanks, IRL, are meant to be used at longer ranges (like 2-3 kms) for delivering shots and better survivability. The squares need to be like 0.75 - 1 km each, and yes while that will make for longer times to get to positions, it would make it more realistic in terms of how tanks are really to be used in modern warfare and less short-range or urban warefare (although there still needs to be this in rotation).
Additionally, the optics need to be more realistic, where some of these tanks and shots in general, wouldn't be such "lasers". How often would breaches and guns take damage or be taken out IRL? Too often tanks seem to have way to strong of an ability to locate an enemy and fire a round into small areas like a driver port, when in reality it would rarely happen - or at least not that frequently.
Now I know the goal of the game is to drive money and make gameplay "balanced" but more often than not, it feels like the outcome is decided before the game even starts. How oftern is the experience where you play one nation or another, and shoot against someone with little to no effect in one game? Then use the same vehichle in another game and completely roll over similar or same tanks?

Because okay, both teams start with 18000 tickets and lose tickets if points are captured by enemy, or your teammates are dying, but... how much we lose if for example the map is 3 capture points and all points are the enemies? What if they capture 1 point or 2? how does this work? If I cap a point, do the enemy instantly lose some tickets? every minute you lose a amount of points? (tickets/minute lost would be the right formula?) and how much tickets you lose for a light tank, or a heavy? the same? I think if you see this, this could be even a great youtube video, because I haven't found any good explanations on this topic, and for example me, who would try to play the game for winning, I would be interested in some situations, what would be the best for me to do. @MichaelDavis-mk4me the turret traverse was jammed but the tank was still operable and could've returned. The comment before is correct, once you get shot in a tank you're essentially panicking for your life with the added benefit of you being blinded. An Abrams would be the same in this position.

Being disabled is basically being dead : you you become a poor excuse for a bunker, just waiting for artillery and drones to finish the job. It's the same for Leopard 2's running over mines, the tank survives, which is nice for the crew that can escape, but that tank is eating a shell in the next minutes, it's effectively dead.

Most of the complaints about the T90m having spall liners and how it was going to destroy top tier was from when they first announced it and it was going to be the only tank in the game with them, they only added them to all the nato tanks after everyone complained.

It isn’t, all tanks are useful in combat as both a tool and a moral weapon. The T90M is just more vulnerable to being destroyed and worse at protecting its crew, so it gives less room for error. If you put a T90M in the hands of a competent crew and unit commander the T90M will do well, but Russia doesn’t have much of those

They have also shown themselves to be really good irl, this isn’t the first time they been in combat. After the T72’s not good combat record, the M1 abrams has seen the most combat and overall has done extremely well

He shouts "Обороты" (oboroty) which can be translated to "revolutions per minute" as in the engine RPM. He shouts this when the engine reaches maximum RPM

Wasn't there an order from Stalin that basically said any retreat was to be treated as treason and desertion? If that was signed into law and nobody bothered to repeal it after the fall of the Soviet Union, then the terrible reverse speed might simply be tank manufacturers complying with the law.
Nah it’s doctrine, soviet doctrine was flooding the battlefield with tanks and cheap price, so to make the tanks fast and the gearbox cheap they sacrificed the reverse gears
