I'm so glad that you posted part 2. I just finished watching part 1 and I thought it was probably going to be several days or a week before your part came out and it was a bit like watching a Cliffhanger at the end of a show. I was excited to see that it didn't have to wait!
You all talking about the LDS levels, and all the things you need to do to get into heaven, it so WOW! It honestly reminds me of the episode of FRIENDS where Joey auditions for the Bamboozled game show. Its just that insane to me. Haha! "Well what’s complicated? You spin the Wheel of Mayhem to go up the Ladder of Chance. You go past the Mud Hut through the Rainbow Ring to get to the Golden Monkey; you yank his tail and boom! You’re in Paradise Pond!" I honestly hope no one takes offence by this post.
Oh the programming, it’s just so powerful but then the longer you’re out the weirder it seems and you at one point you can’t believe you ever believed. Former LDS left 10 years ago and I’m now 71. But life is good.😍🇨🇦
Wow, Eskel, I'm really proud of you. You have come so far in just a few short years! I'm thankful our family had a small part in your journey for a few years. You are a remarkable young man. 💗
my friend married when she was 14 to an older guy in his late 20s with her parents permition. I grew up around alot of polygamy in BC canada on a farm right next to a very well known family there. I was married at 20 to someone in another country! its crazy how normal it seems till you mature and your like waaaaiiittt a min.
Eskel i remember watching you on the show. You look so healthy & handsome. I truly hope that you are healing inside and thats why you look so good on the outside!
I'm not LDS but have grown up around many who are and have always been curious about the temple. When they remodeled our local temple, they did an open house for the public and it was so cool to be able to go inside and see the different rooms. It was beautifully done.
It's always so interesting for me to hear stories from people who fully went through the temple. I left the LDS church when I was 18 and only went through the temple for baptisms for the dead when I was a teenager a couple of times. That was enough to freak me out, so I can honestly only imagine how I would have felt actually seeing the full temple ordinances! Great to see pt. 2 of this interview, thanks for sharing Eskel!
Baptism for the dead is one thing I never had heard of before my grandpa died in 2003. When my grandma said my sister had asked for her permission to do water baptism for our grandpa (my sister converted to Mormon to marry my brother in law). It actually made me pretty mad at my sister that she would have the audacity to think she had any control over what happened spiritually to our now dead grandfather. She totally ignored the FACT that scripture clearly states that the only path to God is thru Jesus & that it's a persons belief in Jesus being the path that makes a difference, not being baptized for someone else. She totally shunned the fact that our grandfather had his own beliefs that have NOTHING to do with LDS, FLDS, or any other off-shute of those beliefs in celestial marriage/celestial extended family, etc. To this day it bothers me, as it's a slap in the face to the man he was, as though in all the good that he was in his life, that she had the audacity to think SHE has control of what happens to him after he already returned to God, that HE didn't have any accountability for himself/his life, that SHE was his path.
@@darciejones7271 wow I understand your anger as I would be very upset too, I hope your mother didn't give her grandmother didn't give her permission to do that
@@darciejones7271 the lds church believes it the choice of the deceased to join post death no one is forced to convert. Corinthians talks about baptisms for the dead so there is a biblical basis for it.
Being LDS, this was very interesting to learn about your experiences. Some of my ancestors lived in the Southern Utah area and had some friends that went with the FLDS church. As far as I've been able to find in my research polygamy was a lot different in the LDS church before the manifesto stopped the practice.I'm glad you guys have turned out relatively well.
Eskel - you certainly sound like a very well-adjusted young man - in spite of your background & growing up in such a closed group as the Kingston clan. I wish you all the very best & hope that your life on the "outside" is everything you want it to be. I was very impressed by those candles & the mugs you & your sister are making. I was not able to see the mug close up - but the artwork on it certainly looked very intricate & impressive! When it comes to things like the illegality of "polygamy" - I understand that part of the reason very few legal prosecutions are able to be made, is because in essence, the husband is usually only "legally" married to the first wife, & the subsequent "marriages"/wives are not "legal" marriages recognised under the law, but merely "religious" marriages. So because, with the subsequent "marriages", no "law" as such has been broken, no legal action can usually be taken for bigamy/polygamy. It would be different if the subsequent wives had gone through a "legally recognised" marriage ceremony with their husbands - but such ceremonies can usually open happen in semi-secrecy where none of the witnesses/wedding guests are aware that either the bride or groom is already legally married - or they would all be witnessing the crime of bigamy/polygamy being committed. From the perspective a child growing up in polygamy - although it may seem like fun, having more than 1 mother & lots of siblings & half-siblings - there is also always the problem of how much time the father is able to spend with each of his many children - & whether the children truly feel like he is being a real "father" to them, & doing all the things with them that a good father would normally do with his children. In many instances, I suspect, these children simply do not get to spend enough time with their father to develop a genuine father/child relationship - because there is simply not enough of him to go around, amongst all of his children. And this is where I feel the children are missing out on a lot of good parenting from their father. Also, with 1 husband having to support so many wives & children, I would imagine it's often difficult for the father to earn sufficient income to support his family well - especially if the wives are pregnant much of the time & unable to engage in paid employment to earn additional income to support their family. I guess that is why there may be pressure on the children in each family just to complete a very basic education & then go out into the workforce as soon as possible, to start earning an income to help support their families. So in many cases, I'm assuming these large polygamous families probably live below the poverty line. And when the men/husbands are not always able to financially support their polygamous families - I'm assuming that sometimes they may need to rely on government social security benefits to support them. But how can the government be expected to financially support a man who may have anything up to say 200 biological children (as I heard quoted for 1 such husband) who may be relying on him for financial support? This is yet another reason why the government has laws against polygamy - because at least in a monogamous marriage, the number of possible children will be much more limited. But with polygamy, there's really no limit as to the number of children a man might father - & if the man himself cannot support them, it may fall back on the government to support them - & that's a real burden on the government coffers. I take my hat off to all the children like Eskel, who have managed to "escape" from these polygamous religious cults, trying to live a much more independent life - where they can be their own person & live a rewarding & fulfilling life.

I've just recently started watching your videos and I'm learning a lot. I'm not a member of any religion but I have to say that leaving your religious upbringing, although it might seem harder or stranger, is not different from leaving any set of beliefs behind. Once you realize that what you've learned from your family or church or school or society is not working for you, that's when your real journey begins ❤ We all have to find what works for us and what we can believe in. Thank you all so much for making these videos available 💞😊
I love your cute little laugh and your personality. I’m sure you’re not upbeat all the time but I feel like I could be around you 24/7, and that is rare for me. I love your openness and your honesty and your love, care and concern for other people 💓💞💓 you really are great to listen to.

What a great collaboration Eskel. I really enjoy watching Melissa and Sam’s channel and enjoyed watching this 2 part interview. Good advice and insight and all around a good watch.
My thought, first time through the temple was good, I had no fear, nothing scary. Back in 2018-19, I started to feel a desire for a word change, in the temple, I prayed and asked God why couldn’t it just say… I knew it would still be the same covenant, just a few words, and when it changed, to the exact wording I asked, I bawled, and felt the Spirit stronger than ever. I now wonder if my desire for change was inspired by the Holy Ghost?
In the "real world" having sex and being pregnant at a young age is frown upon..but I guess in some world it's okay and is still okay. Learning so much!!! Thank you guys!!!
I know for many people who experience trauma remembering anything is hard. Glad so many people are leaving these polygamist groups and finding healing. I can relate to Melissa talking about how many LDS are not properly taught about the temple and only the handshakes are not to be revealed as they help us recognize Christ's nail prints in his hands and wrists . Just an FYI.
The level of physical damage to a woman's body from so many pregnancies without real medical is unimaginable. Even animal breeders would not treat their animals that way. The obliteration of individual identity is beyond cruel
The law of one above another gives off very IBLP vibes. Kids under mother, mother under father, father under God. The whole umbrella structure. Women are blamed for every stumble of husband and told to support n help him fix issues, like Melissa was saying.
As an educator, it's heart-breaking to see how children are indoctrinated to distrust their own minds, which makes them vulnerable to other groups/leaders who claim they have "The Truth." The process of disillusionment and coming to trust your own experience of reality can be dangerous and so painful. My heart goes out to people transitioning to secular life.
You make perhaps the most important point about their situation. Growing up in the mainstream Mormon church and leaving it in my late 20s, I found this to be so true and the biggest challenge I faced.
I dont know if anyone agrees with me. but individuals born in a cult, i guess because they are brought up to believe that even their minds and thoughts must be pure, turn out to be this really sweet, with almost child like honesty and transparency. of course i dont know anyone personally in a cult. this is just based on a couple of you tube channels i discovered (by accident) in the past week or so...
I agree in that they have a sense of naivety. E.g., when George Santos defrauded the Amish dog breeder, I felt super angry because I felt we need to protect such naive people from such a fraudster. I thought "Santos will directly go to hell for that."
Good to know! I'm in Aurora and while I'm not LDS, touring would be very cool. My dad was an ecumenical Baptist pastor and I was fortunate to have learned about a variety of denominations and faiths. 🙂
I’m curious about what your experience was like in the temple, Melisa. I love watching your videos and learning about the Mormon faith has been really interesting to me. I love how loving and kind you guys come across to all different kinds of people. I’m a Christian, as a Christian we don’t consider Mormons Christians because of all the added doctrine and the emphasis on works or earning righteousness and many other doctrinal issues. Religious or ceremonial acts are not important in Christianity other then baptism but that’s not believed to be required for salvation. We believe that the only way to receive salvation is by believing Jesus died for our sins and repenting (turning away) from sin. The Bible says that our righteousness is like filthy rags to God, we can never work our way into being good enough for Him which is why Jesus was the sacrifice for our sins. To be saved we believe that you put your faith in Jesus Christ and walk through a lifetime of relying on him to help you resist evil and receiving his grace and repenting when you fall into sin. Also, we believe that good works are only a result of our salvation. We are inspired to do good works by the Holy Spirit and we choose to submit to the Holy Spirit out of gratitude for what Christ has done for us but not to earn God’s already unconditional love and affection. Overall, I would say one of the main differences is that there are so many requirements in the Mormon faith when all that is truly required is stated in Romans 10:19 “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved”. Faith in Jesus is all that’s required. When we have the revelation of the sacrifice He made for us and how good of a father he is we will joyfully turn from sin and devote our lives to the one who saved us while we were still sinners. The one who doesn’t judge us based on being “good enough”. He looks at the heart and doesn’t nit pick everything we do or give us a list of rules and requirements. He leads us into all truth by his Spirit and His Spirit will never contradict his Word (new & old testament) I hope you enjoyed reading about my faith as much as I’ve enjoyed learning about yours! Blessings to you guys and thank you for being so committed to helping others.❤
People say the Amish do that, but Rum springs is a myth. The young people do some foolish and wild THINGS but it is only with their own people. Not actually living outside the order.
@@rabrubaker296Practice of Rumspringa seems to differ from community to community. The main problem outsiders have is the belief that "the Amish" as a consistent group exists, while in reality they have self governing communities, which over time leads to wildly differences in belief and practices. E.g., some prohibit any use of electricity, while others only reject the landline, i.e. electricity from the state is evil, but use solar panel to power lights, etc. Thus, many members leave after having changed communities due to moving to another place and recognizing that the rules are arbitrary and inconsistent. So your statement is true and false, it is true for some specific community but may be false or different for many others.
The fact that ex cult members are so easily led and are able to so readily follow, is the reason that ex cult members excel in the military which is a cult unto itself.. 21:15
Yes, but marrying a 14 yo girl as a 40-60 yo is even more pervert. Maybe this way the statement makes more sense than the one you correctly criticized.
@eskelgrant this is a little odd but I would like to share something with u medically speaking re ur memory. I grew up in a Pentecostal cult without the polygamy aspect but with everything else - we married early etc. I now have a condition that affects my memory and I have not heard any of u speak to my condition to date however I believe it would be prolific within ur group as I believe it is in mine. Can I email you at all as I believe it may help urself and ur family long term and this is my own way of giving back to others like myself.
@@charlesmendeley9823 fair enough. I know quite a few people left Hilldale/Colorado City after Warrens arest. At one point prison got to Warren and he actually admitted to being a fraud but then his family (it was either his son or his brother I can't remember which) talked him back into being the "prophet".

In the "real world" having sex and being pregnant at a young age is frown upon..but I guess in some world it's okay and is still okay.
Learning so much!!! Thank you guys!!!
I went to open house in Farmington Ct , I’m catholic. I loved how was it organized.
"Saving it up for the church". LOL
Interesting! I thought Kami left before Amanda. I'm not sure why I thought this.
Well Kami is older so most people think that
Awesome. Thanks for sharing these stories
Ohhhhh Eskel, I see a subscriber boost. Yay!!
The level of physical damage to a woman's body from so many pregnancies without real medical is unimaginable. Even animal breeders would not treat their animals that way. The obliteration of individual identity is beyond cruel
I find these videos very interesting and show how strong you have to be to leave a high demand religion and your family and friends.
The law of one above another gives off very IBLP vibes. Kids under mother, mother under father, father under God. The whole umbrella structure. Women are blamed for every stumble of husband and told to support n help him fix issues, like Melissa was saying.
IBLP? which one is that an acronym for ?

As an educator, it's heart-breaking to see how children are indoctrinated to distrust their own minds, which makes them vulnerable to other groups/leaders who claim they have "The Truth." The process of disillusionment and coming to trust your own experience of reality can be dangerous and so painful. My heart goes out to people transitioning to secular life.
You make perhaps the most important point about their situation. Growing up in the mainstream Mormon church and leaving it in my late 20s, I found this to be so true and the biggest challenge I faced.
I wonder if anyone who is still in these polygamist cults wat h. Great interview
I love this guy!
Does the company named Young Living have a connection to the Kingston clan?
Where's part 1?

Part 1 on Sam & Melissa's channel, Growing Up In Polygamy.
I have a feeling Sam is a great dad💜💜
Hey they are building one here in Grand Junction Co. Sam and Melissa take a drive over and take me through it . We can have lunch !!
He leads us into all truth by his Spirit and His Spirit will never contradict his Word (new & old testament)
I hope you enjoyed reading about my faith as much as I’ve enjoyed learning about yours! Blessings to you guys and thank you for being so committed to helping others.❤
Young men less likely to marry early because the older men were snatching the young girls
Yes.... So sick!
Eskel, I really believe that the more you guys keep talking, ultimately, the safer the children and young adults in the Order, will become
I picked up on Warren's deceit when Warren was in his 20s🧐
The Amish people let their teens to try live outside of their communities. Sounds like a good idea for other groups as well!
"14 year old just to a guy in their 20's" ugh what?? That's a disgusting age gap too,
Yes, but marrying a 14 yo girl as a 40-60 yo is even more pervert. Maybe this way the statement makes more sense than the one you correctly criticized.
Sam, the beard.... oh my goodness.
He's adorable.
I looked it up and Warren could become eligible for parole in 2038.
The question is what's left of his "church" in 15 years.
@@charlesmendeley9823 fair enough. I know quite a few people left Hilldale/Colorado City after Warrens arest. One of his wives (I think it was his 65th) bought his old house and is using it as place to help people who want to leave the group. At one point prison got to Warren and he actually admitted to being a fraud but then his family (it was either his son or his brother I can't remember which) talked him back into being the "prophet".
Just new!
I don't think you can sugar coat that excrement and make it palatable.
Eskel, you want to ask your father why he is living the way he is but yet you are choosing to live the way you are in the LDS church. The LDS church is not transparent either.
