I think it could be possible because near bordering Cameroon is the igbo in Southeast nigeria. The igbo people share so many common names with luo people like okoye, okeke, Akomo, Gombe,(Luo,Igbo)Okonkwo(Igbo… Okongo(Luo) mean the same thing in both languages Okachi (Luo- Okach), Agali (Luo Ogali), Okocha (Luo okochi) ojukwu (Luo Ojuku) Amadi (Luo Amadi) and several others are very similar. the cultural similarities from rites like the second burial, which luos reffer to as loso sao, to things like not calling small pox with its real name , to taking care of brothers compound, to the burial rites where youths wear twigs and mourn ,the hooting of the owl being a sign of death, and many many more
Luo as Acholi we also experience the hooting of an owl is a sign of death depending on the time and also, sign of a pregnant woman nearby and could be a mysterious thing awaits
Luo should form international festival in one of the country to bring all the diverse culture together. I love the Luos coz they are too proud, resilient, hardworking and leaders.
Thanks for your work and the visible precision. The Luos immigrations went further than Kameroun or Cameroon. There Luos in Congo Zaire, Congo Brazzaville, Chad, Gabon, The Central African Republic, Nigeria, Ghana, North of Ivory Coast, North of Liberia and the Gambia Senegal border (that's apart from being present in Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania). There is however no confirmed evidence of Luos in Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali and Mauritania eventhough a small community is Senegal is said to be descendants of Luos who transversed the last four countries. I met one of them who's a University Lecturer and he told me that as a matter of survival, they were forced to adopt Wolof and Mandinka as their new mother-tongues but deep down they know they're Luos even after so many mixed marriages.
@@luohistorychannel , I equally appreciate your consideration. The challenge in accurate documenting lies in social pressure. An example i met a man called Onnuongá from North of Ivory Coast. He said his father was called Okkora. He told me that his family formed a community numbering about 680 thousand people in the whole of Ivory Coast who were however marginalised since they originated from the east Africa and had settled for more than 400 years with some living around a place previously called Ottiende but later changed to Odienné. He said the younger generations are shy of their past and prefer to identify with the local Afro-asiatic group rather than their" Lwo" (as he called it ) origin. Next time I'll shoot some videos and share!
I am glad to see this report again since I first saw it while researching on endangered Luo languages. I was similarly attracted by the word Tor for mountain. The report similarly said the Luo opted to be assimilated into the major tribes because they felt threatened by the big tribes. The movement of the Nilotic tribes was westwards since 9000 yrs ago. Another language similarity is that of the Ibo and Luo namebof God. Luo says Jok while Ibo says Chukwu. The two are phonetically similar.
Wow that's nice. There is also Tor or o in Tororo Eastern Uganda where the Jo Padhola Luo reside.Tororo was just corrupted by the white man.Tor is a mist then oro year. In Acholi Luo oro is dry season or year and as well as Alur.oro is year❤❤ Thanks for bringing this 🙌 🙏
Thanks for that information. I highly appreciate that as I have been working on a video on the same topic. I hope you don't mind if your comment is captioned!
The Tikar people of Cameroon have oral traditions of migrating from Sudan and the Kingdom of Kush. Is there a possible connection with Nilotes such as the Luo?
The Kirdi and Sara (Ngambay) people from northern cameroon/southern chad may have connection with Luos since they are Nilotes just like Luo and they also came from Egypt
@@4Waridi They actively compete for political space. You can imagine how that can be emotive considering that Luo is very communal in living style with a feeling of being the first people on earth that others may be su-human beings. Luo sees another Luo species as a brother, this has not augured well with some establishment.
Luo Group can make a whole country together

Do you want to tell us that any name that begins with letter "O" is a Luo, well in that case even German chancellor Olaf is a Luo. What away to argue
You're absolutely correct. Almost all Igbo ('Ibo' 'Ibor' which means 'tall' or 'far') names and not one or two but majority. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I always knew Jay Jay Okocha was a Luo..Too flamboyant and flashy

That would be great! There are groups in the diaspora doing this, but I should be within the continent as well!

Amazing! The Luo language must have been handed down to men by God himself
I am a Luo from Tanzania. I can hear some words which are similar to our counterparts in Uganda esp. Japadhola.
But Luos in Tz came directly from Kenya.

Have you checked on all other Luo in different countries to qualify your claim.?,the Anywak Luo of Ethiopia would certainly disagree with you on this.
Total population of all Luos in the various countries mentioned could make a Sovereign State like Kenya, Tanzania etc.
Bigger.
