There's a similar button to the left of the steering wheel on my 2016 Kia Soul EV+ that, if toggled on, will override the scheduled charging and start charging immediately. It's a little weird because you're essentially turning a feature on, to turn it off, so I think maybe the EV6 method makes a bit more sense.
Thank you for all those videos. I was just wondering if it is ok to start charging when the car switch is on. Some said it needs to be turned off before plugging in, but i tried when the car was on and it worked. Is it still better start charging after turning off the car?
Cheers. It’s always best to start the charging with the ignition switched off otherwise you can get issues. Once charging it’s ok to switch the car back on. If you charge with it on you risk the cars computer systems locking up which has happened to quite a few last year when the car came out.
hi friend i just like to ask if you have any knowlage about normal sound sistem of kia not meriden .i dont have meridien sound sistem , it was sound perfect but since last week sound like only door speakers giving the sound, do you know the mormal sound sistem has amplifire i might have the same problem as you did,i dont even know that car has front and frond side spekers ,before sound was like surround sound sistem but now its feels like only coming from the doors thansk alot
In the UK you don’t have to pay for the app. What does it do?,remote lock/unlock/remote heating or cooling, remote open/close charge door, remote sending of settings to the car.,profile management, remote location of the car, remote charging control, remote status of charge levels,12v battery status, windows, boot, bonnet open status, trip recording (distance, speed, time & date),remote sending of satnav destinations & much more.
I have an EV6 GT Line S AWD and the displayed range after charging has started to drop off recently. Last charge to 100% showed a range of 209 miles on dashboard. Did a bit of searching on EV6 forums and found that an Adaptive Values Reset via dealership might be the answer. Visited my dealer to be told that they have recently been advised by Kia of this issue but currently there is no fix available in the UK. Have you come across this previously?
No i’ve not come across that but the BMS update for battery pre-heating might have an impact when ever it gets to us. My cars range is still 312 but i only do 6k miles a year and rarely use the climate unless i have to. If you also do a lot of motorway miles at 60-70 with climate it’s the kind of range i might expect.
Yeah, the car learns how you drive your car usually and then calculates the potential range - I've learned to see that it's pretty accurate, at least for me. If you are a "big spender" with the acceleration pedal, the actual range is reduced. Andrew cites his range with 312 miles, but note, he might have an RWD. OTOH, if you actively reduce your consumption by moderating your speed or not using AC, the range extends dynamically, too. Long story short: Don't bother too much with resetting stuff to get a better range display, drive better. 🙂
I noticed when you pressed the button that the car made a click noise. Does that mean the charge cable isn’t locked into the car when it’s waiting to charge on the schedule?
No the cable is set to lock on insertion. Zappi charger may have made that noise when it’s relay clicks but there could also be relays in the car when the charging circuits engage. Something i have to study as i do ‘t really know. Could be one or could be both.
@@evodessey cheers. Have you tried pulling the cable out when it’s set to timed and it’s not charging? I helped a new EV owner the other say and the ccs cable didn’t lock until it started to charge.
AC charging is better for the battery than DC charging. They recommend to mostly 80% with the occasional 100% charge maybe once a month. Battery experts also warn against leaving it sitting around at high states of charge for long period as that can cause battery degradation. You would probably be alright as its AC and it’s getting used and not sitting around.
Plug granny charger into EV 6,press power button on V2l adapter, select Ampage on granny charger by press and hold, make sure cable is unwound or risk fire, plug granny charger into Mokka, which should then charge, let me know if it works
I use this button quite frequently, but have the problem after using it, the set schedule for my off peak charging is gone and have to set it again in the app. Quite annoying as I only want to overrule it only occasionally. Anyone facing the same issue?
Some countries offer off peak electricity pricing. For me, peak hours can cost 15-20 cent per kwh. Off peak 2-5 cent per kwh. That's why cars have that schedule option.
I needed that when I 1st bought the car couldn't figure it out to save my life, your videos are helpful
Cheers
Thank you. Mystery and problem solved. I am very grateful.
Brilliant thank you that's helped me alot
Even works in Australia - if you set the delayed charging from the car (since we don't have the app)
Well seen ! I've had the car for a year, now I finally find out what this button is for 😅
It can be use also for reset de communication with a supercharger/Ionity in case of issues
Eindelijk iemand die het knopje heeft uitgelegd. Bedankt
Finally a know how this button works haha thx :)

Thank you again Brian, who do you use for off peak charging (energy supplier)
Hi Stuart,I’m with Octopus. I’m on Intelligent Octopus tariff which integrates with my Zappi charger.
Thanks I didn’t know that

Sorry i’ve no experience of the non Meridian system. Even the demo car i drove last October was a GT Line S which was identical to mine.
Hey, we are getting the Kia EV6 air soon, and i was wondering if you have to pay for the app? And what does the app give you access to?

TLDR: "to override the schedule because you want to charge right away press and hold the hold schedule button"

So is the UK version of the EV6 only able to charge with 7kw AC? It’s 11kw AC here in Denmark. Or is it your charger?
No 11kw but my house is only single phase.

Hi Brian
Have you ever tried charging another car fto the EV6?
Yes. My wife’s Zoe. It works on some but Zoe is too fussy about proper earthing.
@evodessey Thanks Brian
My wife's car is a MOKKA E, so I hope that it works.
Can you tell me the procedure please
Plug granny charger into EV 6,press power button on V2l adapter, select Ampage on granny charger by press and hold, make sure cable is unwound or risk fire, plug granny charger into Mokka, which should then charge, let me know if it works
@evodessey Yes Brian I will let you know if it works.
We are in Cyprus now, and due back to UK on 3rd October

I didn’t notice that during testing. Are you are using the latest July Head Unit software?
That is a huge waste of effort. Just simply charge your car up. Why do all that nonsense time frames and crap? Just simply charge your vehicle.
