I completely agree! I have some many books on my TBR, wasting time reading a book I don’t like is not at all enjoyable!😂

I'm 5 chapters in and I can't help but notice that all the problems presented so far come from the chieftain and none of the characters or even the narrator seems to notice. Like, this character claims that all their problems will be solved if they take over the magic crystal mines while wearing much of the same stones in her hair like jewelry. Plus, the main character seems to have only gotten her high ranking position through nepotism since she's literally sleeping with the chieftain (and its specifically mentioned that people who used to be her superiors became her subordinates) which ends up getting her men killed on her first day of the job.
But these issues are never addressed. Like, its right in front of everyone. The main character is even concerned about malnourished child soldiers but doesn't realize that the root of the problem is her own lover.(Since the magic crystals apparently make food which. again. she wears in her hair like jewelry) It doesn't make sense.

I really don’t like some of the books you read. But, I'm glad you read them so I don’t have to. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅. Other books you review are pretty good though. 👍

I had a very long rant about this book and accidentally closed the tab and lost all of it 🤬.
So in brief because I am not typing that out again…
I had a strong suspicion you would DNF it because I almost did at chapter 9. I kept going when they stopped talking about killing the magical animals. The rest of the book was… fine.
The romances fell flat. Lettle was annoying. Yeeran is ignorant.
I will not be reading the rest of the series. I did read March book already and it’s better than this one. It’s a bit drawn out though. Out of the 29 books I’ve read so far this year, only 5 were 5 star reads and even then the SJM books were a soft 5 compared to her other two series.

I hated the book too I almost dnfed with all the animal death and I didn't. I agree, I thought that the characters were very mature and I expected some growth throughout the book and there really wasn't any. I thought the romance between the main character and the princess who captured them was ridiculous because it was her brother who the main character killed and who would forgive that?

Okay this definitely validates my decision to DNF. I’m just so surprised because I try to pick generally liked books so this was crazy that it was so rough. The romances were also some of my main problems and when I skimmed through and read other reviews, there were a lot of similar complaints. I’m sorry you didn’t like it! Hopefully the next couple of picks are way better 😭
