I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t like how dark the book got? I liked the first book until it got so dark, and I never hear anyone talk about how dark it gets. I feel like that’s something that should be talked about at least to warn people about how violent it is.
That is true I started getting some weird nightmares from the violence so I should've talked about that more!

You saying this makes me want to read it more lol. I'm not a massive fan of cookie cutter books. I love grit and darkness more. It makes it feel more realistic which is what I like about reading. I will read cute stories as a break from the darkness but dark books are truly my favourite kind.

I dont think it got that dark honestly, i read it in middle school and was fine. I just think the series develops into a more grown up plot.

A Court of Silver Flames is one of my favorite books in the entire world. The fact that I read it during quarantine made it soooooo much better because I feel like that was the setting it was meant to be read in.

Right? I gave it 6/5 stars and it’s one of my favorite books ever. It’s a little frustrating when people reduce the book down to nothing but smut when it carries so much more value than just its smut scenes. If you’d taken all of those scenes out of the book, still would’ve been 6/5 stars and everyone still would’ve loved it.
Absolutely! Court of Silver Flames was my favorite. So disappointed it was DNFed.

I actually love the idea of purposefully buying only one book in a series at a time and making a point to drive back to the bookstore. I always feel weird about reading series because as a kid I would get gifted maybe 1-2 books in a series and then have to wait an entire year to get the rest which SUCKED so I felt like I never finished any. So - as an adult I just want to own the entire series immediately (which financially isn't always possible). So I really appreciate this different perspective on buying books in a series!
I was SO excited to see what you thought of ACOSF and then you DNF'd it 😂 I literally said out loud out to my screen, "dude no, it gets better!" 😂 SJM has such a wonderful writing style, they're big books but they don't feel like it when you're reading them. Throne of Glass is a longer series (I think 7 or 8 books) but less spicey than ACOTAR, but still in the same fantasy, easy to read world building style.
Didn't get better for me. Did not enjoy the last book very much.

@@meh5069 I think the fact that feyre didn't have a big confrontation that perfectly resolved everything with Nesta was pretty realistic. If I was watching my sister destroy herself I wouldn't use that moment to remind her of all the shitty things she's ever done. I don't have the best relationship with one of my sisters but I could move past our teenage years to help her in adulthood. interpersonal relationships rarely get a perfect resolution irl. it makes the story a little more believable, especially the fact that Rys never really forgives Nesta for how she treated Feyre.
how fast she finishes books will always amaze me
silverflames was my absolute favorite from this series.
Nesta was such a good character to follow, her growth, her struggles, her arc. ugh that book is everything and more to me
The fact that a court of silver flames is like the best book in the series for me hurts that u didn’t finish. The character development is unreal

ACOSF is definitely a different tone to the others, personally I related so heavily to Nesta which is why it’s my fave ☺️ (also it gets better in the second half)

I agree! I wasn’t sure I would like ACOSF because it was about Nesta and the way her character was portrayed in the other books made it hard to like or understand her but I have to say this was my favourite book in the series. I related some much to her and the character development was really good. I have never felt like the sunshine girl and even though Feyre had her struggles and darker times I feel like she is still portrayed like this throughout the series so it was nice to see a character that isn’t the antagonist not be this sunshine filled character
I found my people here!!! ACOSF is my fav. Love my girlie Nessie! I do not get the hate she gets. She is the most raw and real character imo ✨
yess!! her emotions and mental battles felt soo real. to think so many people go through such a similar (less exaggerated) process of sorting out inner demons and making sense of the mess. and getting to see her character development is so satisfying!!!
Oof , I don't understand how anyone likes her. She had so many chances to redeem herself and just...chose not to.
It makes me really glad you think of the age ratings before recommending a book because as a teenager who loves reading, people don't actually give a thought about age ratings before recommending a book. I really appreciate it

Everyone has different taste when it comes to books and their topics. It’s totally fine to want an age rating to prevent topics that you aren’t comfortable with reading! Enjoy your reading journey :)

I used to work in a library and a tip to not crack your spine is flip through the pages a bunch before you read it. Like slide your finger across the pages so the fan out and go front to back and back to front
I can’t believe you didn’t finish ACOSF, it’s literally the best out of all of them. Nesta’s character arc is so inspiring and healing, I literally cried so hard during the last book. This actually broke my heart bc I was so excited for you to see the glory that is the last book :’((

I agree, I did hated Nesta and genuinely thought that this books will be the worst (if I even finish) but months after reading it, I keep thinking about it, about the healing journey Nesta went through, physical and mental, about the supportive friends she got and I wish I would have found friends like that who fight traumas together and read. It is genuinely amazing book and to people who went through trauma it can help (it did to me). I especially love that it is also one of the few books where we see main character working out their trauma and getting somewhat over it, in most books it just happens all of sudden....❤

ACOSF is one of my favourites of the series! The ending, and especially the last two thirds of the book are so emotional and gripping. So much happens!

I always say that a good book makes you feel things, and a great book makes you feel all the same things the second time you read it. I went through the same emotional journey both times even though I'd read it before and knew about all of the characters and plots...2 and 3 were my favourites as well

I read Acotar four years ago and it's still my favorite series ever! It's crazy how Sarah has this ability to make us feel inside the world she created and be completely immersed into the story
I still remember the smells she describes, textures, the streets of Velaris, each court's aesthetic, the music...
And the characters she writes, they inspire and amaze me even after all these years. I've read so many books in my life but none of them were as special as Acotar and Tog. Sarah made me love reading again, made me appreciate art even more and took me out of a depression of years because her books gave me the hope and courage that I needed to start getting better!

Haley Pham has truly evolved over the years. People like her can redeem themselves for the better. Her book recommendations are something to actually look forward to. She's very eloquent the way she speaks and provides insights for the benefit of the reader(s).

ive gotten into the habit of watching Haley whenever im stressed and for some reason her energy is just the right balance of like happy and calming and relateable
i know this series gets a lot of flack but i loved it. however i only read the first three books as the last two didn’t have great reviews and i felt as though my time with the characters had already been well spent! ACOWAR had me laughing and crying all at once, such a good ending.
the most recent one was my favorite, acosf. i think nesta is the most interesting character, so I'd recommend if you're still considering
I tell everyone they only need to read 1-3 and 4&5 are a waste of time. 🤷🏻♀️
5 was great. 4 was more of a fluffy novella, not much plot to worry about

Omg how interesting about the 5th book! I’ve only read the first one and everyone kept talking about all the spice and I was like what spice?? But now I know it’s all in the 5th book! I personally love fantasies that don’t contain any spice but still have romance, they feel so much more authentic. Two amazing romance series with no spice are A Song of Wraiths and Ruin, and The Never Tilting World, they were literally amazing!!

My gosh Haley, it is insane what you have done to me; I heard so much about this author and this series, I badly want to know what's the hype is about and so I attempted the first chapter of the first book...TWICE, but can't get through it, and your vlog makes me want to give it a go again and I managed to reach chapter 5 (a feat for me) LOL.
this series was a lifeline for me when things in my life were getting really really bad. I have not totally finished the series, still working on the last 2 frost and starlight and silver flames as they were not out when I read it the first time. but yes, this series will hold a special place on my bookshelf right alongside HP and LOTR

i’ve only read the first one and am at part 2 in the second, but i’ve watched all of cari can read’s videos on it and agree, it should’ve stayed a trilogy/maybe the novella as a parting gift. i watch those videos all the time as a comfort series and Never watch the last one bc i watched it once and hated the plot and the change of perspective😂

Haley, I love Poppy War so much. The series sort of read like an action anime (kinda???) especially with its vibrant cast of characters. Do give it a go but yes, check the trigger warnings first!
I wasn’t sucked into Silver Flames as much as I was with ACOMAF and ACOWAR, but it’s still crucial to the developing plot and Nesta’s development was so heart warming. It also helped build a bond with Cassian like we got with Rhys in the other books.
I do agree when it comes to reading, don’t restrict yourself, the way read is based on my moods, it’s pretty well known, go with what you feel, read whatever your want. You’ll be happy about it 😁 mood reading!

a court of silver flames actually ended up being my favorite book in the entire series, but i do also think sjm could have cut down on some of the spice
i definitely agree with the spice amount being a little too much. I felt like having that much took away from the whole plot of the book. Wish she made a book about Nesta’s character arc, and then made the spiciness into a separate book for those who WANTED to read it. Unfortunately had to suffer through the spice just to learn about her arc 🙄🙄🙄

The 2nd book took me 5 days of reading. I’m more than half way thru book 3 now and it’s
been 3 days.
I’m averaging 8 hours a day of reading and it’s hard to put them down. The books are so good. And addicting.
When you get to book five remember that the first half is a rough read, but it's designed to be that way and the payoff in the second half more than makes up for it! Hope you enjoy the series!!!
Literally the riddle was so easy, I didn't even finish reading it and I new what it would be because of context clues

You should read The red queen series. It's not spicy but so good. 1st book isn't much, but as the series goes on ....wowww. I was obsessed with the series . Please try the rest of the series if you haven't already.
