Wow so beautiful! Do you paint first the canvas before putting the paper? Your canvas has a red colour. When you draw the shape , do I need to wait until it's dry?. Thank you for sharing your great talent to us. God bless you!

Anything with texture will work when preping the canvas. You can take some thick paint or maybe some gesso and splotch it with your fine bristled paint brush or even add some very fine grain sand to the paint to give it a texture. Just a guess here.

did she ever answer the question about what she used for the background texture? I think I'm going to put the glue on thick and blot it to try and copy that background and let it dry before I put the tissue on. Wish me luck

I believe she covered it with a layer of mod podge that she had mixed a colour in with already and then just dabbed it on so she got that rough kind of texture. I'm guessing from watching the video listed above by Mapia Antonioy

I recall watching in one of her other videos that she liked the stipple effect which kind of looks like this. Or it could be a layer of tissue paper painted without design. Not sure.

Actually if u water down a little reg white glue it works 2, Mod Podge, which is a brand, was created 4 Deco Podge, I learned 2 Deco podge in high school in the mid 70's long b4 mod podge was created n all we had was white glue to attach our pic usually 2 a wooden blank that we stained after sanding smooth then we also covered the pic with watered-down white glue after allowing the glue 2 thoroughly dry then we covered the whole thing with a clear varnish doing several layers until u culdn't feel the edge of the pic, now mod podge has changed all of that bcuz u can just use the mod podge n no need 4 the varnish from wut I understand, I've not actually used the mod podge yet, but since seeing this vid I'm sure I'll b trying it soon, have fun n good luck.....😃😢✌ Peace

    2 queries -
Can I supplement mod podge with gesso?
N d you leave the tissue on d canvas or remove it off before painting on it?

yeah Gesso works, and you leave the tissue on, (although you can get some cool effects by gently sanding some of it off using a very fine finishing sandpaper)

+Hannah Saville I've used just part white (elmer's) glue and part water. I generally water it down more than mod podge so it isn't too thick and shows the texture well.
