Man I love it when UA-camrs I watch play some battle brothers. The videos never seem to do well but I love seeing how other people play this absolute gem of a game.
It's a shame because it's such a fantastic game.
It's a hard game, so ppl don't want to show themselves get wiped.
Hence, he plays easy.
It is so polished, every system works exactly how it says it will. It’s also easy to learn and hard to master which is a combo most games don’t have now.
@@23kurtzyNot actually the case. But funnily enough to find out about that youd already have to be retardedly invested in the game already. Theres a good chunk of hidden armor penetration bonuses and maluses on attack types which make certain weapons better or worse than they look on paper.
For example twohanded swords thrusting attack has I believe a +10% or +5% armor pen value which isnt mentioned anywhere and the only way to find out about it is to look at the attacks damage value and figure out that the potential armor pen value is too high.
Many of the 2handed weapons have something of the sort on some of their attacks. Or at least used to have it.

pff i tried it and i just dont understand why game devs make games frustrating, its a really hard game even in the beginning. like if people select easy in the difficulty, it should be easy, I cant imagine what torn souls actually play this on hard.
I really love the presentation of the game. Although simple, the sounds and graphical feedback of hitting or even killing an enemy is powerful! Especially if beheaded. This also works if your own partymembers get hit or killed. The sound it makes and the sudden change of the sprite, when your own guys die, hurt as much, as you feel joy when they end the enemy.
As deep and intelligent as the game is, the simple things make them irresistible to play for many hours into the night.
For anybody thinking about picking the game up. DLC wise Warriors if the North and Blazing Deserts are worth the price.
Blazing Deserts:
-New desert locations
-A support Retinue system
-3 New origins
-New enemies, weapons, events ,contracts and legendary locations
-An Arena
Warriors of the North:
-10 new origins some dramatically changing how the game is played
-A new frozen northern area
-A champion system (enemies with unique gear)
-New contracts, gear, enemies events legendary locations
Beasts and Explorations is pretty mid,get it if you really love the game.
-More discoverable locations on the map
-5 new beast type enemies
-crafting system and gear ad-ons
-New ambitions
-Map 25% larger
And just forget about Lindwurms. Even if it's free. You will almost never want to fight them.

A habit I had to break when learning the game was not paying attention to starting stats and only looking at stars and thinking a brother was "good" at something they really weren't. Espen and Egil, while having 2 stars in ranged attack, only have 33 and 37 starting. If they makes it to lvl 11, they'll probably have around 73 and 77 respectively if you focus it which isn't good given how ranged accuracy is calculated.
Espen has a serviceable starting melee, really good HP, fatigue, and initiative, and a resolve you maybe have to touch once or twice. He's not a world beater, but would make for a solid melee bro or polearmer for a good chunk of the game. Egil's resolve and matt makes him fodder in my book. Regardless, they're at best an arrow catcher that are only marginally effective in fights you don't really need them for if you build them towards ranged.
Id watch a 10 hour version of this. Might take me a few days but id do it

YES, I never thought you'd play this game, it's a wonderful management game, kinda like you have an entire party of D&D characters that you're trying to manage all at once
All kills fatalities makes a huge difference when fighting undead or those who can stand back up in combat, if I remember correctly.
Also fatalities damage the enemies’ morale more than normal kills

If you don't give a brother compensation when you get rid of them, there is a chance all the rest of your crew will be angry at you for it. Been a while since I played so can't recall exactly what effect it has, but I think low morale and some other stat modifiers for a little while
Love this game. One of those titles that you can always come back to and do a few runs for a good time.

Oath Takers are amazing, somehow only with this campaign group I managed to do every end game like Black Monolith, Kraken, Goblin City, that chain lightning sword etc.
I’m a huge fan, AA. Your vids got me into some of my favorite games-Kenshi, Project Zomboid, and Battle Brothers more recently.
Have you ever messed around with the Legends overhaul mod? It took the game from very good to truly exceptional in my experience-it just adds so much depth and complexity to the already sophisticated systems in the game. There’s “a lot under the hood” that I think you would really enjoy-highly recommend.

I always "wanted" to like this game, but never did.
Wait, i do love it, but i just cant play it lol. I get SO frustrated by the Fatigue mechanic, i really hate it.
The second you get in melee range, in any engagement, on any difficulty, you lose all your Fatigue and basically can do 1 action per turn, swing, or move, nothing else. It just feels SO handicapped to the point where it detracts from player choice and tactics. I cant make any smart moves to outwit the opponent, if i literally cant make any moves at all, or only have the choice to "run" or "stay still and attack regardless of the odds".
And you actually CANT choose to maneuver or reposition even if you want to, because of the extremely strong attacks-of-opportunity the enemy gets, you're almost guaranteed to get hit, meaning you'd be better off standing in place and at least deal your own dps as well.
Further accentuating the problem of just being "stuck in place" the second you enter melee range, with no choices to consider.
It feels like you make 1 choice at the very first opening move of battle, like in Chess.
But then every successive turn, you're just stuck in the mud and can't do anything you want, can't use tactics, can't maneuver.
I hate that.
God I hope he picks up Dominions. that would be a great game for his channel!

range def is mostly useless on brother particulary the one that wear heavy armor since range attack usualy lack penetration dmg.
on the lightly armor brother I usualy to take swiff and boost initiative to insane lvl wich would result in range def high engough that the range enemy will usualy only focus your heavy armor bro that can shrug it off
until your bro are at a safe lvl give them shield
all fun and games until a brigand marksman spawns on a hill and one shot headshots your bro with no range def
Goblins and arbalesters will ruin your 2handers and archers if you don't give them any rdef. Even bandit marksmen can be a problem if they spawn with a crossbow.
There's nothing quite like having an arbalester go first in the turn order and immediately kill your best ranged dude. I always try to get anyone who won't use a shield up to at least 20.

@@TheMajorpickle01 it does not happen my recuite do have shield my intitiative tank are so fast at the start of combat that it bring there range def to 30-40 min. and my heavy armor guy can take the it no problem with there armor being so high with Battle Forged you take less dmg equivalent to 5% of your curent armor let say I am mid game I dont have the best armor yet around 200 head and 200 body for 400 so 400x0.05=20 so you only take 80%. The best none-lendandery bow the war bow does 50-70dmg and 60% effectiveness agains armor
brigand marksman hit in the head (critical hit), resulting in +50% HP damage
max dmg is roll 105(since it a crit) but 60% so it only does (63-20% because BF) 51 is rolled on armor damage, 26.5 on hp damage
Nasal Helmet with Mail takes 63 damage. 149 armor remains.
brigand marksman deals 26.5 - 15 (10% of remaining armor) = 11 * 1.5 = 16 damage to hitpoints
so has you see your brigand marksman heat hit only did 16 health dmg to my 100+hp probably 120 (it what I am aming for). so no I dont care about brigand marksman.

Leveling bros takes ages I mean ages I got runs that pass 500 days not a single one is managed to get past lvl 30 usually enemies are just too powerful or too weak(base on team compsition). And I wonder how many would it take to get the max lvl.

Getting a big group is not the best way to do it, Max 6-7 brothers quality over quantity.

The town had cold relations to you because you sold the stolen goods to a mysterious person after killing the thieves. You broke your contract by not bringing it back to the settlement.

For future range def is widely considered a dump stat in battle brothers because it just means that another brother is going to get hit and is ultimately inefficient compared to melee def, attack and hp/fatigue/ resolve
Initiative is also worth it for the long run as you get a chance to have one of your brothers to get 2 turns, 3 with adrenaline which is perfect for damage dealers
The nice thing about shields is they add some odd 15 or so points to ranged defense stats, so a common round shield will take care of 90% of a brother's ranged defense needs, if they're a two-hander with 2 tiles of range then just sticking behind someone with a shield will do the trick, otherwise just give them like 10 points in ranged defense so they don't get hit all the time and some heavy armor, and they're golden.
The other 10% is if you ever get in combat against handgonners, then you basically pray to god they miss and either try to kill them as fast as possible or distract them with dogs.
So I had to look and I'm kind of surprised I don't see any Dominions 5... That's kind of surprising I figured that would be one of your favorite games.

I love a challenge and strategy, but the Battle Brothers is a level of hard that I’m also like ‘yeah I’m doing easy, I want to be challenged but I want to have fun.’ And still get wiped by dire wolves 3 days in

Whenever you do a caravan contract and the town is well supplied, there is always a named weapon or armor for the sale 🎉
i wouldn't sleep on the peddler. They can sometimes have good melee defense, and you can get a lot of use out of one with with a shield.

just wish they ported this to mobile, i tried playing it with my touch screen laptop recently and it plays really well, there are a few kinks but otherwise incredibly fluid.

You can retire whenever after fending off a crisis, game's as endless as you make it to be (as long as you survive, cause the difficulty scales over time and you need to catch up often)
