What a fantastic set of items in the baby box! I love the bear jacket the most, that was super adorable. And WOW hearing you receive these from the Scottish government - I was planning to check the video description for a link to see where you got it thinking it would be a great gift to give. I am in the US and would be really surprised if our government did anything like this (I am not a parent so I could be wrong). What a thoughtful and useful selection of items. I live in England and didn’t get anything from the government for either of my children (first born 2018 and the second 4 months ago) so you were very lucky to receive this.

@@TheASMRGirl from memory, I think Finland give baby boxes. I don’t think it’s that common, especially with the range of things you’ve been given. It’s saving you a lot of money

I’m in the US and don’t make a lot of money. The state of Ohio has a program for those who are low income . They do give you some things however you have to attend all 2 1/2 hr meetings your whole pregnancy bi-weekly with other members of your community. They check your weight, blood pressure, and babies heart rate and teach you about the different stages of pregnancy and labor. They also assign you a hospital to deliver and schedule your tests and ultrasounds. Each one of these appointments are around $40 (US Dollars). Towards the end of your pregnancy they gift you a pack and play, a crib sheet (plastered with baby safe sleep regulations across it which is good info to know but not cute on sheets) one baby book(again about sleep regulations) a pacifier, a stroller and car seat combo, two sleep sacks and a pack of diapers. I am grateful for the stuff I do get and the education but I wish we had cute stuff like this more accessible to more moms across the country!

When you do need nursing pads, Amazon has some lovely rewashable ones that are reasonably priced. They even come with a washing bag.
Also, they make an electric nail filer that’s pretty cheap and it has different heads with varying thickness as baby grows. That is one of the best purchases I made for my baby. So many girls I knew clipped their baby’s nails and got the skin and were always so nervous about it so I recommended the product to everyone. I believe Amazon has them for less than $20 USD.

In the Netherlands you don't get anything from the government. Sometimes with extra insurance the company gives you a box. There are a lot of commercial initiatives though. In exchange for your info they give you boxes for your pregnancy and baby boxes after birth. Never seen anything quite as big as your box though.

Most peoples individual health insurance companies provide them with one gift when they complete their doctors appointments throughout pregnancy. Since we don’t have free healthcare it’s not necessarily a free gift but it’s still nice. I got my choice between a carseat and a pack n play pen

This is great for those who really need it. My concern is that's lots of people will get it and not use all of it when others would need it. Must cost the government so much money
You can say no when offered it but every single child is eligible so those in need will always get one 🙂

That is a fantastic program in your country! We don't have anything like that in my state within the USA. There could be services for people who qualify (have an income below a set amount), but not widespread for every baby.

@@TheASMRGirl the U.S. doesn’t have a national maternity law or anything. Federal employees get 12 weeks off, then the rest is up to states and companies. My sister had to use vacation time to wait to go back to work until 8 weeks postpartum😅 Most of it is unpaid, and rarely do fathers get more than a few days to a week off.
Oh my I can’t believe you get so little time off if any at all! 😨
