  • This is part II of my dream light weight EMTB build based on the LightCarbon LCE930 frame and Bafang M820 motor. The battery is 410WH 43V and built by Bafang. I am happy to have this as a stable mate to my Custom Freesky Swift Horse and look forward to creating new videos on both of my EMTB's.
    Coming soon: LightCarbon build overview, what went well and what didn't go so well.

    Interesting to see after RobridesEmtb’s build. Just a thought, the front brake line should go in between the fork and the front wheel… in case you crash on the left and damage the brake line.

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  Місяць тому +3

      Rob's video is excellent, I can't wait for the ride review. Thanks for pointing out the brake line, someone else caught that too. I don't know what I was thinking, I should have known better than that 😵‍💫. It has since been corrected.

    Perfect timing, I was just wondering about building one of these. Would you please weigh this? I was looking at the lighter battery option but not sure if a bit of battery weight would even be noticeable.

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  8 місяців тому +2

      Weight according to my scale is 43.6 lbs/19.77 kg. Not bad considering the only carbon is the frame and I didn't go light on the tires, drive system, fork, or shock either.

      @@sandnap Thats a great build weight! Great build choices IMO. A bit of extra weight is worth it in those components.

      Yes! The nice thing about a custom build like this is you can decide what is important to you. I like having 160/150mm travel and the higher end Fox suspension. I ride some pretty rough trails with some drops and smallish jumps on it. More AM/Enduro than XC.

      @@sandnapdo you know a mtb frame that hast 170-180 in front and 160-180 in the back? the trails in austria are no joke, my fox 38 died because the oil overheated and destroyed my bushings 😂

    Awesome build! I am just about to assemble my LCE930... How do you get the Bafang Connection cables through the Headset? Arent the connectors too big to go through the holes of the headset?

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! The connectors were able to fit through the metal opening in the headset and the rubber grommet has slits that can slide around the cables.

    great video man, awsome build!
    im just so sad that there are no other brand options than bafang because i really dont like them that much.

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  Місяць тому +1

      Ding ding, you are correct on the start nut tool supplier. 😂 Thanks, I really enjoyed building it and I love the way it rides. So far the Bafang M820 has been great other than the flaky Bafang app. I solved this problem by buying the K1 flash tool and now I can set the ride parameters up the way I like them. I am considering buying a second motor to have on hand in the event that I need parts down the road.

      @sandnap  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks! I have the light connectors and the display connector that go to the head tube. I didn't install a light (yet) so I just coiled and tied it off and it's sitting in the down tube. I am interested in following your build!

      Great to hear, I thought it was a light cable but I wasn't sure. I got the rockbros lights from Ali so I won't need a cable for it. I will post on emtb forum the full build. Thanks again for making these videos really helps keeping me sane... also I am really liking the carbon and finish on the bike looks really great. My build will be black stealth build.

    No lock tight on the motor mounting screws? It is going to vibrate loose and disassemble itself.

      I applied blue locktite on them. I also marked the position of every bolt with white nail polish and check it before every ride. So far nothing has backed out.

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  3 місяці тому

      Awesome! Using your terms, loosely, lol. Yes they rattle a bit, I intend to open it all up again now that it has some miles on it and inspect the cables and install some insulation foam around the cables.

    are those brakes any good for stoping an eletrican bike giong fast on a decend?

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  5 місяців тому

      For me so far, yes! I used the stock hybrid pads on my first two rides and the brakes even worked well with those. I did order some metal pads though which may even work better. I don't have a lot to compare them too but they stop my 19.7kg ebike with as much or more authority than my SRAM Guide R brakes on my Specialized analog bike. There are several reviews out there so I wouldn't just take my word for it. I will be ordering these for my heavier ebike soon.

    Any idea or advice where i can a budget Super light emtb that isn't the price of a new car?

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  5 місяців тому +1

      The SL bikes seem to be pretty hot right now and since sub 20kg bikes are fairly new the used market for them is not great either. So far I have enjoyed my build which I have about 3000 USD invested in, it's hard to come close to that with a brand name SL. In order to get down to $3-4k you would have to pick a lower end build with an aluminum frame.

    what dropper post did you use?

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  4 місяці тому

      It is a KS EXA Form 900i 445mm (150mm travel) that I bought from AliExpress. It is decent for the price but it sticks at the top occasionally and the lever it came with was junk. I replaced the lever with a ZTTO ball bearing lever (AliExpress) which works well.
