  • The Swift Horse is getting a stable mate. This is part I of my carbon EMTB dream build. The frame is an LCE930 built by LIGHTCARBON. It will be powered by the Bafang M820 light weight 250W 75NM motor and a 43V 410WH battery. I expect this bike to weigh under 20kg (~43lbs) ready to ride.

    I'm here to follow along and learn of any challenges as I am planning to buy/build one of these myself!

    Nice work! I really like how you transitioned the grey to black.

      Thanks! I matched the angle on the seat tube with the angle of the head tube and the angle on the down tube with the angle of the upper seat tube :).

      Thanks! I will definitely be doing some ride videos as soon as the trails dry out. I should have the build video uploaded within the next few days.

    Excellent work, great color combination. The battery mounting hole should be blocked before paint

      Thanks! For those seeking advice when painting, it's probably best to mask off the entire motor/battery mount opening.

    Beautiful emtb. I'm working up the courage to buy mine, but I want it assembled. Maybe the cef50, lce930 or Cyctrac em19.

      Thanks! I'll have to check out the Cyctrac, I am not familiar with that one. I debated between the cef50 and lce930 and could have gone either way but the shipping was faster on the lce930. Both are great options with a lot of support and knowledge on the emtb forums and from the frame suppliers/manufactures.

    Nice work, looks great. What was shipped price of the frame/motor/battery? Did you get hit with import costs or was it included in the price?

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks! I purchased this in December of last year from a supplier on Alibaba and the total cost for the frame, motor, battery, charger, display, cables, cranks, headset, chainring, rear axle, UDH, and mounting hardware was $1783 USD and included shipping and import costs.

      @@sandnap Wow that's really well done, I would of expected more for just the frame with motor and battery 👍

    I have a few questions. So you didnt sand the frame before painting at all? How many layers of paint & clearcoat. Hows the paint been holsing up thus far?

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  4 місяці тому

      I lightly sanded the frame with 800 grit before I painted it. 3 layers of each. I scratched it in one spot when I went down in a corner and it landed on a rock but otherwise the paint is holding up well. I need to add more frame protection, I only had enough on hand to cover the bottom of the down tube. If I was being a perfectionist I probably would have sanded between coats but honestly the paint looks great, even up close.

    Hey Sandnap, did you have to source the battery and motor seperately as i know some brand like lightcarbon can also provide them

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  7 місяців тому

      I purchased the frame, motor, and battery from Tars at Changzhou Fieldebikes Co., Ltd. on Alibaba. They don't have the LCE 930 advertised in their store but he responded to my RFQ and I confirmed with Jim @ LightCarbon that they are a legitimate supplier.

    did you do anything special when running the cables up the battery housing?

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  3 місяці тому

      I didn't. I can hear them rattling a bit on rough trails, jumps, and drop-offs, but it isn't too bad.

      @@sandnap there’s a new version?

    • @sandnap
      @sandnap  5 місяців тому

      Yes, they say they improved the oil flow in the caliper and the angle of the hose is now adjustable. I am a bit hesitant to order them though since they are new and the originals have been out for a while and have so many positive reviews. I'll probably give them a try though. www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806171110649.html
