I'm so sick daydreaming about learning visual effects and I watched one of your UA-cam you did 4 years ago about how to learn it visual effect
You mentioned some softwares to use but I was thinking you would make mention of programs like Maya and blender because these are the two programs I'm currently thinking of using mostly blender and ofcouse after effects too

I have been using and learning Blender for the past 6+ months and it is definitely worth it! Blender combined with After Effects will give you a lot of control, so I would definitely suggest you go for it. Good luck!
