Even though the cars have performed under their official name since this performance, I have always seen this as the final performance of Cars 1.0. Just when we thought it was all over, we got this one final live gem, with just enough of the old magic to take the time machine back to the 80s for one last look. Very cool! I’ve never heard this song or seen this performance. I didn’t know he was working with both Greg and Eliot then. Fantastic! I’ll have to listen to the rest of that album!

Donna!!! I'm so glad that you found this clip and posted it! I've been looking for this clip for several years. I had only seen this performance maybe one time before. Quick story - I recorded Game 6 of the NLCS, which aired on CBS earlier this same night - 10/13/93 (I'm a Phillies fan). I let my VCR record the game without hitting pause for commercials. I re-watched Game 6 a few times and caught a quick five or ten second commercial for Letterman ("Join Dave after the game when his guests will be....and Ric Ocasek!") I don't remember if my tape managed to record this performance after the game (I was not yet a Cars fan - I was only 11). My guess is the tape did not, or it did and I eventually taped over it. Knowing what I know now, I wish I hadn't recorded over a lot of things. Anyway, again, I am so glad you posted this. You totally made my day! Thank you and have a great day!
